Wow, what a terrific region! It looks really good, the pics are great! On the city engineer-side of things - bridges carry power across water. Don't worry you're not the only one, I didn't realise that until I read it here on ST!!! Keep it up! A

Date:9/30/2004 8:06:29 PM Author:uncrazycooper13 Hey Norwich is looking better then ever! However I would suggest that you should probably finish up the ring road before you start the subway system. I vote for Norwich Tube because I think it's really cool and Norwich is getting to be a really big city, and tube seems to be well suited for a big city. Keep up the good work! I can't wait to see more updates!!!!quote> Uncrazycooper13!! Long time no see! How have you been? Thanks for the advice - it was the plan anyway. Come back soon! Mattc005 - I know what you're going to say - it sucks and I should delete it from my hard drive. Suspense is definitely the order of the day, I feel..... Utora - I will find out the name of that building and let you know. I get the feeling Parkstone are in for a long, tough season.... Dark Avatar - thanks for the compliments. Another update soon......... (yeah, right!) A Don't forget to cast your vote for the name of Norwich's new subway system!!!!!! a) Norwich Metro (3) b) Norwich Subway c) Norwich Subrail d) Norwich Subterrail (1) e) Norwich Tube (1) f) Norwich Underground (4) g) N.U.N. Norwich Ring Road Project - Phase 8 - Thistlehurst Good evening folks and welcome to this long-awaited update on the progress of the project. Tonight, we are in the borough of Thistlehurst, in the south-western corner of Norwich. First of all - the transport views as we left the borough a long time ago. First of all, congestion..... .....and volume..... Now, we follow the building of the road. This is by far the most awkward part of the ring road so far - the protected area of Thistlehurst Common meant some very difficult decisions from the transport department and lengthy public consultation. It was agreed that as little of the Common should be built upon as possible - which meant that road was built very close to existing developments. The A205 (South Circular) enters Thistlehurst in the Seven Sisters area from Kelseyheath..... Junction 9 is a two-staged junction - the first stage takes traffic on and off the A205 onto the roundabout where access can be gained either to Seven Sisters Park + Ride..... .....or the second roundabout - which provides access to the A3 trunk road running north-south, while the A205 turns sharply north to circum-navigate the north end of Thistlehurst Common..... Thanks Matt!!!!!!! The South Circular heads north-west around the Common..... The road continues past Thistlehurst Golf Course. The residents of the nearby high-rise homes are shaken out of their beds by traffic thundering by..... Junction 10 intersects with the new M4 motorway, which heads west, from which access is gained via Junction 1 to the A400, towards Pentney and Central Norwich..... The A205 and NLR head into Oakhill, close to a new industrial estate..... The most southern part of Norwich thus far, a mainly residential area includes Thistlehurst Library, the Royal College of Geography and Cartography, where the next generation of map-makers and urban planners (geography essential to their occupation) learn their stuff, and the National Geographic Exhibition, where interesting artefacts are displayed from many different ancient civilisations from all areas of the world. It is close to the A30 - which runs from Central Kelseyheath to the A3 in south Thistlehurst..... This in an area slightly further to the west, with the A3 (left of screen) and the A30 (top)..... The Seven Sisters area close to the new ring road..... Business in Thistlehurst has taken off surprisingly well, considering it's relatively low population..... New housing areas - one of which is only just under construction - just to the north of Thistlehurst Common in Stickley. Stickley Pool is in view here close to the NLR. The blue-rooved homes here are a definite style statement unique to Thistlehurst..... Thistlehurst Common is a strictly protected area - mainly due to the abundance of wildlife - causing a limit to development..... More housing and industry. City Of Norwich Airport and Central Norwich are immediately north-east of this corner..... Budget and population..... Region views to follow shortly. (chimes on public address system) Please accept again our apologies for the delay in updating this region. Please be assured that we are doing everything in our power to regain normal service, thank you. A

SOCCER SUNDAY Good evening folks and welcome to our analysis of this afternoon's big game at the Olympic Stadium in Central Norwich.... Yes this afternoon saw the first home match since Norwich City were crowned champions. 75,000 screaming supporters turned out to see what they hoped would be a comfortable win over league newcomers East Statham from Stathamstow. But, as ever in football, things weren't that straight-forward and the Canaries were made to work for the three points. East Statham stunned the hosts in only the third minute with a headed goal from a corner. After twenty-five minutes of subsequent pressure from the home side they got back into the game with a great team move culminating in sweet finish from midfielder Damien Francis. Unfortunately, City were not on level terms for long, and the visitors got back in front just three minutes later with a dubious penalty award after Drury was adjudged to have fouled inside the box. Half-time: Norwich City 1-2 East Statham. In the second half East Statham put up some fierce resistance but in the end, sheer weight of numbers in their penalty box told and Norwich got a deserved equaliser on 75 minutes. Good work down the right from Marc Edworthy and Gary Holt saw Edworthy get behind the East Statham back four, and his cross was jubilantly headed home by Leon McKenzie. The Canaries' fans' delight was soon turned to ecstacy as their team took the lead for the first time almost immediately. A long throw from goalkeeper Robert Green found Darren Huckerby in space on the left. His sheer pace took him to the edge of the box, and once the last defender was commited to the tackle Huckerby shifted the ball outside to Bentley, who curled a delightful 18 yard shot beyond the keeper and into the far corner. East Statham were clearly stunned and despite a flurry of corners in the closing minutes, were unable to deny Norwich City the win. Full-time: Norwich City 3-2 East Statham. As we can see, that result has lifted Norwich City into second place behind Stokesbury United only on goal difference - as these two are the only teams to have a 100% record after two games. That's all for tonight folks. Thanks for joining us. A

SPORTSCENE Good evening folks and welcome to this week's edition of Sportscene. First of all, a round-up of tonight's football. In the Simtropolis Football League Norwich District, five matches were held this afternoon: Stokesbury United have moved to the top of the table by building on last week's victory with a confident performance against one of the predicted strugglers, Parkstone Rangers. They scored a goal in each half to record a 2-0 home win. Maidenwell have made a surprisingly sluggish start to the season, and were well beaten at home by Clarendon Athletic 3-1, leaving a bitter taste in their optimistic supporters' mouths - who will surely demand big improvements. A late winner snatched a victory for Norwich United at home to Barton Hatch Rovers, 1-0. Elsewhere, Bradwell were stunned at home by Salham, where despite being on top of their visitors for long periods of the match, came away with a 1-0 defeat. There was a battle of the minnows in Oakhill - as an attendance of just 5,000 saw Pentney comfortably beat Swanton 3-0. In tomorrow's match, champions Norwich City play host to East Statham. Now we can take a look at the league table and next week's fixtures..... Mayor Andrew George was today delighted to announce that the City of Norwich is planning to host a marathon in the future. A route is still in discussion, but it is likely to feature a number of Norwich's most famous landmarks from all boroughs of the city - so go and begin training! That's all for tonight - we look forward to bringing you news of a further expansion to Norwich very soon. And, don't forget - cast your vote in the poll to choose a name for Norwich's imminent subway network! Have fun A

Hey guys thanks for all your votes - they are really appreciated! It's pleasing to know there's still some interest despite lack of updates recently - so thanks again. So, let's analyse the voting thus far - a) Norwich Metro - 3 votes AND a logo! (Matt - you are ahead of the game YET again - I was going to ask you to do this once we had confirmed the name - that's cool! Maybe we need a logo for all the other popular choices so that folks can decide on logo as well as name.....) d) Norwich Subterrail - 1 vote and some contempt! It was one I created so I guess I'll never make it as a transport marketing manager...... f) Norwich Underground - 3 votes. I thought this might do well because of the Britishness aspect. So 7 votes so far - and on advice maybe we will add another two names into the hat I think. It's not too late to vote and as Norwich is a free democracy you can always amend your vote should you so wish. The choices (current scores in brackets)...... a) Norwich Metro (3) b) Norwich Subway c) Norwich Subrail d) Norwich Subterrail (1) e) Norwich Tube f) Norwich Underground (3) g) N.U.N. (Norwich Underground Network) - Thanks Utora. h) NorMet - Thanks mayormommy and Utora! Thanks guys and gals. Your friend, A

Subway System On It's Way To Norwich Hi folks, long time no hear, eh?! This is a request for some readership participation - for those that are interested. Norwich's new Ring Road is almost complete - together with it's new NLR monorail network. These have helped boosted the city's peripheral areas - but now Mayor George wishes to focus his attention on the city's central areas - particularly the business hub in Central Norwich. A new subway network has been approved and planning is being undertaken: what Mayor George would like to know is........ What would Simtropolians like the new subway network to be called? The monorail was given the name NLR, or Norwich Light Railway, to assist in it's advertising and promotion campaign. So vote for one of the options below or even suggest an alternative if you prefer. Choose from: a) Norwich Metro b) Norwich Subway c) Norwich Subrail d) Norwich Subterrail e) Norwich Tube f) Norwich Underground Thanks! A

I've got a cool house - right by the Cathedral - nice! That'll bump the value of the place up! (Us accountants, you see, think of everything as Pounds & Pence, Euros & Cents, Dollars & Cents etc. That suit I'm wearing must've cost a pretty penny too! Nice stuff Utora! This journal is really taking off now, probably one of the most popular on here - your shout-out for more support seems to have worked...... A

Kiphtin Bay, a teaser journal by MrCinatit

Welcome to page four! MrCinatit - I think your journals are undoubtedly my favourite on ST. All the detail you put in is admirable - I try to do this myself - it often takes me 2 or 3 days to present one update in Norwich - it's an exhaustive process. But you update three journals and it seems effortless! You must spend your working days creating visions of updates in your mind and thinking up new features and storylines (I do this also......), but whereas my ideas dry up - yours keep flowing endlessly! Well done. And, as I said before (I'm sure it was this journal) - those land formations - extra-terrestrials......... A -

More superb work! I'm not sure if that skyline could get much bigger - it's huge! I like the attention you pay to the transport network - the tidiness of digging tunnels etc. Great stuff! A -
I love the use of the ponds and parks - it's looking beautiful. Keep it up! A

TimeBomb, a Mr. Cinatit collection of stories
andrew george replied to MrCinatit's topic in SC4 City Journals
Some great updates here - I love the snow! I think Bill Iguana-labrat accumulated his fortune by growing dangerous genetically-modified broccoli underneath his garden (his normal garden would lift to reveal several secret plots of land growing super-broccoli from gallons of toxic waste). He would then sell his broccoli to the government who used it to obliterate the race of Moon men by sneaking the evil broccoli into their food chain. -
Hey guys, relax! Never said I was quitting. Just waiting for inspiration!!!!! Thanks for the concern though!!!! Today was the first day of the Simtropolis Football League Norwich District. Not too many goals about, a predictably tough start for Parkstone Rangers at home to champions Norwich City, and a solid start for Barton Hatch Rovers. Stokesbury travelled to veterans of last season's campaign Salham and came away with an impressive 3-0 victory. Thanks everyone. And, re inspiration, any ideas you guys may have would be greatly appreciated. A
