  1. Sketchy Stuff is Happening

Hey guys! Just though I would share a sketch I drew of a house. Its kind-of based on a FLW prairie house, but with some 21st century stuff thrown in. (All roofs are hipped. for some reason the right side looks gabled.)
  2. If you're cool, you'll read this

Thanks MamaLuigi and Huston! Zulu2065: I do have the extra cheats, but I kinda like the dilapidation here, as old farm houses are often run-down. (Western NYS, anyone?)
  3. If you're cool, you'll read this

HEY YOU! YOU NEED TO READ THIS UPDATE! Its not actually that important, but you should read it anyways! Today I have a small mosaic of Loyalsock, a semi rural community in the extreme southeast of the area. AND I broke out some MMP's that don't look terribly shabby at all! I think I shall use MMP's more in the future. Thanks for coming! Enjoy!
  4. The Laughing Moose Showcase

Roger51: Thanks! I received a comment A while back asking where Sunderland was set.... So, after a bit of work, I present, a Map of Westramine, the Nation in which Sunderland is located. Sunderland Is the County Head of Northumberland County. Gloucester, Northampton, Castledon and York are the other county heads of their respective counties. EXETER is the National Capital, home to Parliament and government offices. I hope to eventually build Exeter on a custom map, but that is a long way down the line. The Key: Red: Major/Included Cities and metropolitan areas Yellow: County titles and Borders Green: A-Roads Dark Blue: Motorways (Major Motorways are signified as {M+an Even 10 multiple for E/W routes} or {M+an Odd 10 multiple for N/S routes}. Secondary Motorways are spurs or connectors signified by the parents first digit with an even second digit for E/W spurs and an odd second digit for N/S spurs) Light Blue: Parkways (Minor, car-only motorways, usually signified by a single letter other than A or M, or by a three digit M###) M-1 is the Nations first large-scale Motorway, and the only fully tolled road. It acts as a thruway, so speeds are not strongly regulated, and interchanges are rare. M-1 Interchange Numbers are shown on the Map. Most of the other major Motorways (aside from M-90) radiate from Exeter and its Metro Area. (spurs of M-1 have numbering as if M-1 was really M-10) The Is. of Pembroke is a sovereign dependency of the Nation of Westramine, and there is a movement for Melancholia to become a sovereign dependency as well. I do hope to have actual game pictures for you guys next time!

  6. Music

This is the description in the guide: Ok, I never been atracted to the Drumm and Bass or Dubs, but I'll explore. Have you listened Powernoise Music? Okay, I got into the guide, and there's no Dubstep... the Dub there is not dubstep, but Id say dubstep's grandaddy would be Rave. Dubstep is like a combination of techno/rave with drum and bass. As for powernoise and noizecore, I get enough mechanical sounds with my dubstep and alt-rock EDIT: and UK Dancehall, Garage and such grew out of ragga, rave and the Carribbean dancehall
  7. Music

That's Techno music, right? According the guide of electronic music that I've post here is Techno Music (of the Detroit Family). Sorry, but I can't check out the guide, It freezes up on me... There are many takes on Dubstep, but every true dub song has a specific drum beat, usually with a snare every third beat, and usually syncopated and shuffled... and most have a "wobble base" or the wubwubwub sound.... and the best have a bass drop. It grows out of the UK garage and drum and bass musics and is closely related to dancehall culture. The video I posted is from the strand "Brostep," a strand of post-dubstep. Its a whole subculture down here. Once you start digging, you'll discover a lot!
  8. Music

What is Dubstep? I see it on YouTube in the related videos all the time. Technical Definition Wikipedia, explains the drum beat that constitutes a "dup step" and the genres many facets Example: Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites, by Skrillex skip to :35 for the bass drop, the best part of any Dubstep song, where stuff gets EPIC
  9. Civilian, by Wye Oak http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2guLl6Hmwo Absolutely Amazing
  10. Music

As far as electronic music goes, my favorite is Dubstep, the industrial, dirty, skrillex kind. I also like the post-modern bits like Deadmau5. And Folk-Rock-Electronic stuff like Wilco. But really my tastes range from stripped down guitar folk to alt-rock and most everything in between, (barring Country-Western and Pop/RB/rap, ugh to all those, but for some reason I can appreciate old-school hip-hop... ohwell)
  11. Ipswitch Borough

10000000000000: Thanks! I actually find the lack of traffic a problem, so I will probably switch to the 24h radical NAM Zulu2065: The ones facing Kew Gardens start at $350,000 US, so this is NOT a cheap area, for sure, but the side street ones are substantially cheaper. Mamaluigi945: Thanks! armpit43: This would be in the range of North America, somewhere in the industrial north, but the river mouth is in the west, so it only lends itself to a fictional location. But I used the Binghamton map from the STEX.
  12. Ipswitch Borough

Okay, so you were probably expecting to see a smorgasbord of Light rail and subway stops today, eh. Too Bad! Instead of doing a mega update of the subway system, I will show bits of it in each setting. Today, we will look at IpswitchAs I said before, Ipswitch is a borough in Sunderland City. It is located in the East Valley of the City and it is one of the more historic boroughs, though the others also have historical buildings. Ipswitch is serviced by the C-Crosstown (Red) line of the Sunderland Metropolitan Rapid Rail. In the borough, the line surfaces and becomes GLR, runs through a station, and then terminates at another. The stations servicing Ipswitch officially are Ipswitch Center and Eastglen, though residents of western Ipswitch often use Riverview, a subway station as well. The Map again for Reference: Eastglen Terminus, mostly accessible only by car. It is used mostly as overflow for Ipswitch center, and by commuters from the eastern portion of Ipswitch. From Eastglen, trains cross East River Street, then run behind the shops lining it. We can also see the Heavy Rail line, which will tunnel under River St and the neighborhood near Eastglen. Ipswitch Center Station. We will get off here to see some of the borough. The center of the borough, showcasing Ipswitch Central Elementary School, ICC1 (Ipswitch Community College), Church of St. Raphael, and The Rosalind Barclay Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. The Corners is the local business hub, and an outlying financial district. Also, we can see where Crosstown sinks to subway level. Behind St. Raphael's Church is Kew Gardens, a botanical garden house for city dwellers. Thanks for visiting! I <3 comments

  15. Penn State Scandal

I live in North Central PA, so naturally everyone around here acts like the are PSU alumni and are personal friends with Joe Paterno. When the chain of command above him did nothing, I think He or the actual witness of the crimes should have gone to the cops. When authority fails, the individual must take responsibility. What annoys me most, however, is that Paterno is getting the worst rap in the whole thing. Also, If this had been taken care of when it first happened, we wouldn't be here, the Uni wouldn't have a tarnished rep and their "precious" coach wouldn't have to step down. In any case, my thought and prayers go out to the victims and families. We should not be so concerned about a football program.

  19. Midtown Sunderland

Thanks for the Comments! REPLIES in comment threads like always! Midtown Sunderland is just north and east of Downtown. It is made up of mostly Middle to Upper Class residents and several service businesses. Cumberland Central High School, grades 9-12, is named for CaptainJames F Cumberland who discovered the valley. Sunderland Central Terminal, the Primary rail station in Sunderland, and the Church of St Mary, located a couple blocks east of the High School A few blocks Southwest of the Terminal is Park View, comprised of some of the wealthiest Urban Dwellers of Sunderland. Park Av, Lower Court St, Park Place and Park Ct are reserved for the creme de la creme of downtown society. Also pictured is the Metro Museum and Saintsaviour Church. Crossroads is the Central intersection of Sunderland. It used to be very busy, but people have begun using the extensive underground metro and mall system to commute from uptown to downtown. It is and Integral part of the Theatre District (The Regal and Odeon are located here, along with three underground/indie/community theatres) that continues to the southwest. North on State Street will bring us to the main part of Midtown. To the West(right) is Shaftsbury Av, another classy neighborhood. To the East(left) is a middle class neigborhood that fades to low wealth and industry. The Jerome Avenue Exit of the Motorway. Maynard Street is traditionally the border between Midtown and Lower Trumbull, a slightly poorer neighborhood wedged between the Motorway and the River. And a map of the area we covered in todays update: Thanks for visiting!
  20. Sunderland Rapid Rail

Replies! Efkin: thank you klr650c: Pictures of the system will be coming with the next few updates if all goes according to plan.
  21. Sunderland Rapid Rail

Hullo Everyone! Just a little peek at the next update! Now, I have a MAP for you guys! This is Sunderland Metro Rapid Rail, a system of Subway and Light rail that circulates the people of the area. It's not quite finished, as the North bit of the green line and the west bit of the red line are not even built yet, but for now it looks good! Thanks for stopping by everyone!

  23. How to Solve the Problem of Hunger

I think this English assignment greatly limited your angle on the book. I read the book in 7th grade, and from what I can remember from then, It was pretty good. I thought it more about over-"perfecting" society and where that gets us. On to the topic: the main problems I see are transportation of food to arid/underdeveloped/overpopulated/corrupt places like Africa or India and use of cropland for capitalistic, profit-only crops like ethanol corn. Also, as it is now, the gov'ts might offer incentives to farmers to NOT grow crops to "stabilize" the market.
