  1. Hi all, I have made a model in SketchUp ,see image, and I want make the UV map in 3ds Max. Importing the model from SketchUp to 3ds Max goes normal (saved the model as sketchup version 8 and used the import function in 3ds). When i open de uvw unwrap modifer and use the option flatten mapping it appears that the model has a lot of flat polygons, see image. Any idea what caused this or is this normal?
  2. Thank you for the explanation, it all make sense now. Just so I get it right, you want to have that all faces have there 'own' edge and vertexes and not sharing each other edge. So the edges of adjecent faces are actually overlapping/stacked. I still need to redo some of the model because I messed up some measurement. I really want to thank you for all the effort you put in this topic
  3. 1st of all thank you @Darf for cleaning up the model. Although I find the discussion very interesting but I'm very curious how he cleaned up the model?
  4. Here is the file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/23f7um4gc7slyjm/model .skp?dl=0 I still need to split the faces in smaller faces for the uv layout (walls/roof)
  5. thanks @Avanya and @Darf for the reactions. I loaded the model in blender and found out that the model has a lot of double vertexes at the window frames (with remove doubles). In the UVW unwrapmodifer when i moved a polygon connected to the flat polygon, the flat polygon becomes a normal polygon. So i think there are double/invisible vertexes in the model who create these flat polygons. Any ideawhat caused this? It seems like this only happens around the window frames. My sketchup workflow (simplified) for the window is as follows: create rectangle, offset to create the frame, push/pull window face. edit: or prevent it?
  6. Thanks for the quick reaction. Do you know a method in Blender? I also have blender but i mainly focused on 3ds Max because i worked with other autodesk applications. not that it helped me much xD
