  1. CitiesXL 2012 New Images

The landscape is beautiful, but I'm not wasting my money on it because my computer couldn't handle that much rendering. SC4 and SCS is already a killer for resources on my computer.
  2. Too Many crashes to handle.

I remember downloading a patch off of the Maxis website, but I did download the patch from SC4D anyway. However, the problem still lingered, so I backed up my plugins and regions and reinstalled the game. Now, it works. Thank you for your help though A Nonny Moose, at least there are some people out there who help fellow gamers!
  3. Too Many crashes to handle.

Hello there guys. I've been having crash issues lately. I'll run you through the scenario. When I want to play SC4, I start up the game, and after it loads, the "EA Games" logo in the animation freezes about half-way, then returns me to my desktop. Here's a picture: I apologize for the bad shot, Ctrl+PrintScreen didn't work. This issue happened back on May 21st or 25th and persisted for several days straight. I went to the point of restarting my computer, reinstalling the game, and almost to the point of re-partitioning an old hard drive (that has Vista on it) and installing XP as the main operating system. Then, as I said before, several days later, the game starts up and plays without crashing. So, today, I wanted to play SC4 (as it's been a couple months), and the same issue comes up. Today, and even back in May, I looked online to see if anyone had the same or a similar problem that I have had; I was unable to find any similar symptom. So, I've come back to Simtropolis to see if there is a resolution, or if anyone has had this problem before and their remedy. Here's the exception report, as well as the DirectX Diagnostic dialog box. Exception Report Exception time: 08/13/2011, at 16:48:00. Exception code: 0xC0000005 (-1073741819) ACCESS_VIOLATION. Thanks. By the way, I have a quick question. Do Mac users with SC4 have this many problems compared to the PC user's version?
  4. Update 4- West Auburn

I was wondering where you found the two buildings to the right on the sixth-to-last photo. Did you BAT them? Or did you get them from here? I'd like to use those buildings in some of my cities. I've been looking at your journal for a while, and I love how colorful it is, as well as the trees and greenery around it. Nice job!
  5. Ah, still neat though.

  6. Good first car?

If you want something that's no more than $1200 and dependable, than you'll have to be thinking about getting an economic car from the 1990s or earlier. Here are some cars I suggest: Chevrolet/Geo Metro: Gets about 49-50 MPG on the highway, very dependable (came out in 1989, and many people still drive them on the roads). However, they are very utilitarian, don't be expecting anything sporty or soulful, unless if you want the convertible that they made in the early nineties, or find a stick. I'm not sure how big you are on safety, but you more than likely won't be very protected. (1989-1994 Gen) (1995-1998 Gen) (1998-2001 Gen [as Chevrolet]) Honda Civic: This car doesn't need much explaining. They're very dependable and because they still make them, it's very easy to find parts. You probably would want one from the mid-to-late 1990s. My cousin bought one, brand new in 1998, and she still drives it. It would be fun to drive in a coupe with a sunroof, but don't count on woodgrain (you could probably find a beige interior one). Also note that the engine is louder than other manufacturers (I'm sure Honda has improved that with newer models). Toyota Corolla: Does not need much explaining either. They're good gas savers, hauling people around, and they are safe as well. If you want one that's in your budget, you will need to get one from the nineties. However, (this isn't really an issue on the car) you see so many of them on the road, they aren't very attractive (in my opinion). Saturn S-Series: Made from 1991-2002, this series comes in a sedan, coupe, and wagon. They updated the design in 1997. Nowadays, they are dirt cheap. I saw in the Saturday newspaper that a sedan version from the 2000 model year ran for about $350 USD. (I would not buy that car if it was that cheap FYI because there's probably some problems) (1991-1996 Gen [W/S] [C]) (1997-2002 Gen [W/S] [C]) Those are the base cars that I can really describe. There are other economy cars (or what would be considered economic and small today) like the Dodge/Plymouth Neon, the Ford Escort (ZX2), Toyota Echo, Chevrolet Cavalier, Eagle Summit, and many others. Here are some that are more than likely cheap and sporty, but note that these cars are more than likely 10+ years old: Eagle Talon (1990-1994 Gen) (1995-1998 Gen) Pontiac Sunbird [basically a Cavalier, but sportier] (1990-1994 Article) (Coupe) (Convertible) (Sedan) Plymouth Laser [rebadged Talon and Mitsubishi Eclipse of that era] (1990-1994) That's all I can think of for now, I hope that this helps. Be sure to look for cars in the classifieds, Craigslist, eBay, etc. Good luck! Forgot: Look at the different Geo models here, they're really quirky and cute, and gas savers as well...
  7. SimTower

I never heard of SimTower until a few years ago. I came across it on the Internet, downloaded it, and I have loved it ever since. I haven't played it in a while, but I love some of the dialog boxes like "There are a group of terrorists inside your tower. You can call SWAT for $50,000."
  8. Thanks! I really like your Fiero. They were really sharp looking, and still are.

  9. I love your Oldsmobile! We used to have a Ciera from 1988. What year is yours?

  10. Should I buy Sim City Societies?

It isn't a bad game, but I had problems installing it. There is security software in the program that prevents pirates from keylogging it, etc. The software, if I remember correctly, is called Secur-ROM, and it blocked me from playing the game, even though I have a legal copy on Compact Disc. I had to call the EA Support Team to help me. After you resolve that issue, the game is okay. I also found the game to be entertaining for the couple weeks I had it and then got bored of it; SCS (to me at least) did not have much replay value.
  11. Simcity 4 VS CityXL

I prefer SimCity 4, as it is forgiving RAM-wise on my PC rather than CXL.
  12. SC4 Deluxe on special on Steam - 75% off!

This great game is now reduced to five dollars.
  13. Automotive

I couldn't find anything in the forums on individual automotive transportation, so I thought I would make one. If there is one, please tell me. I was looking on the STEX for a school bus, I am sick of the original one. I once had the Euro school bus in my cities, but then I wanted to drive them, I got a CTD (Crash to Desktp). So, I was wondering if any brave soul would like to take a shot at making a school bus, but with the engine under the bus instead of in front. Click Here for an Example **This was probably not the best place to post, sorry**
  14. EIA Sign Pack - Part One

Sweet! Some new signs! Especially for the new widening mods!
  15. What are you/ your parents driving?

My mother and I share a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Ours is in white though. It's such a great car, and it has about 77,650 miles on it. I wish they still made them though. Hopefully GM will regrow a brain and have more affordable two-dour coupes.
  16. Roman Aqueduct pak Vol. I

    Amo id! (I love it!)
  17. What car(s) do you drive/have?

Hello, I currently have my learner's permit and I am driving a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. If there is a thread like this, I didn't see it and I apologize if so.
  18. Cartoon Favorites

No one has replied to this topic over a year, I must revive it. (CPR) Anyways, I love and miss all the old Disney, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon TV shows. They are SO MUCH better than what is on today. Most of what is on today on those stations are real-life and "reality" shows. I better stop before I rant even more. Here are some of my favorite shows. Dexter's Laboratory Rugrats Hey Arnold Scooby Doo (the old ones) Angry Beavers Animaniacs Sonic Are You Afraid of the Dark? (not a cartoon, but still great, used to scare me so much) Ed, Edd, and Eddy All That The Amanda Show Legends of the Hidden Temple (I know this was a game show. I love to look at all the "new" prizes) ...and many others At the moment, I am watching the original Transformers. When I was little, I never really payed attention to the show and action figures. But after watching the second movie that came out, I bought the first one and then decided on YouTube one day to watch the start of it all, the G1 Series. I have also seen a couple episodes of the new show. Although it is different, it isn't as good as the first one. The new one is too "anime" for me. You can't go wrong going "back to basics" sometimes.
  19. top mpg cars

1967 Ford XL. No air quality control and eight miles to the gallon Lovely car, huh?
  20. This is for all you McDonald's haters out there

If you read "Fast Food Nation," it really makes you not want to eat at McDonald's. Especially when the author talks about the slaughterhouses. 21. Show us your Computer!

At the moment, I can not find my camera, so instead, I found a Google Image. I have one of the last made Dell Dimension E520 computers. It ran Windows Vista Basic, but I wasted my money and upgraded to premium instead. Here is a glimpse of the inside: This is what it looks like, except I have a 19" monitor rather than a 17". It was a gift from my mom and dad when I turned thirteen. Over the two years I have had it, I have had over 6 or 7 Blue Screens of Death, and I had to buy a new Hard Disk Drive because the HDD was causing all the problems. I got so mad one day that I broke the stands of my keyboard.
  22. Piano Players Unite!!

I can't believe I found this topic. I used to play piano. I started around seven(?) and stopped at ten. The summer when I was thirteen, I wanted to pick back up on piano. Around that winter, I had to quit because of school. That summer, I went back to play it until I turned fifteen. I am still fifteen. I love the piano and I play it sometimes when nobody is at home. I like playing it, but I am just burned out from learning anything new. I do miss my piano teacher though, she is a nice lady. I play Ben Folds Five and Ben Folds music.
  23. World Languages

I speak English, but I hate Latin, I am taking two years of it (one is out of the way) and it is no "walk in the park" either. However, I would like to learn French, German, and/or Dutch. I would like to learn and speak something European. It is kind of hard speaking a dead language anyways. =]
  24. Personally, I prefer animation by hand instead of animation by mouse. I respect the people who do computer animation, but it seems like you have to do a lot just to produce a scene/picture. Well, you have to do that too with drawing it out, but I feel like you can "express yourself" more-so by hand rather than mouse.
  25. What car(s) do you drive/have?

Wow, every thread I try to make is already taken. I am discouraged once again.
