I'm getting a bunch of commuters on my two main rails. The problem is, I can't run the monorails through the cloverleafs and the highway systems. Can you connect a monorail to some kind of underground system? I doubt it.

I hear the concerns about the super demand mod. I'm using it now with my main city, but I don't plan to use it with every tile/city I build. I'm still learning the game, though, even with the mod in my main city.

I've put in four monorails. Two are working very well, carrying lots of passengers. The other two have 0 passengers. (I've waited enough time to see if they'll be used.) What's the key?

Good news, folks! I installed the Super Demand mod. Now my city is over 200,000 sims! Hoo boy, that demand has now become a beast whose hunger is never satisfied! Once I turned on the ordinance, everything moved into high gear. So thanks again for the advice. I think I'm back on track now.

I guess I just can't get the hang of this game. I just can't seem to get my city to grow past 150 to 160,000 population. I'm barely making any money now and frequently start losing money. I've developed two neighboring towns. I thought that would make my main city grow. The effect has been negligible. I've got very little undeveloped terrain to develop. It's a bleak picture. I wish I knew what I was doing wrong. At one time I had 200,000 population. Just can't seem to get the hang of it.

Thanks for the quick replies. This is good advice.

I have a city of about 160,000 sims. There's precious little unzoned terrain left to develop. Someone suggested I rezone some areas for higher density. But when I click on the RCI indicator to see what's in demand, it usually indicates R$ as the highest column. When you zone new property, do you go by that column of R$, even though you want R$$ or R$$$?

Spacing between the streets in a new city
lorenzo48 replied to ShadowVFX's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
These are some good ideas, thanks. I have a city of 160,000. The downtown is pretty much on the grid layout, and I get lots of messages about overloaded streets. I do have some highways, some bus stations, and some subway. I still get those messages, though. How can I relieve the pressure on those streets? -
the streets in your residential zones maybe should be turned to roadsquote> Why's that? Not enough traffic on them? Also, mass transit should be added to coax people back into your city. Start with elevated rail so you don't waste too much money. How many tiles does the elevated rail take in width? Jason: Ill try to upload a pic of the region and cities if yall wanna check thrm out.quote> Yeah, do that, Jason. One thing I've found out: I don't have enough memory. One time I even got kicked out to the desktop. I've got to get some more memory.

Census Repository Facility, Version 2

Good work, Ripplejet. I was referred to your thread here by a guy who posted on one of my threads. It seems my first and main city has pretty well capped at around 80,000 Sims. I'll get your MOD now. -

Is that any better, gridlock? I sized it to 800x600. What plugins am I missing? I'm not aware of any. I got the NAM update already. Bravo, my zones are not growing very much. But I'm up to 83000 Sims now. Hardly making any money, though. I've got most of my taxes at 10%, lots of complaints about that. Like I said, the city has capped. I got rid of a landmark, the subway, and the airport. Trying to get by instead of losing money. Would you guys have more separation between the zones? The water is still an issue, pumps and water towers are all pretty much at 100% capacity. Fires breaking out. I'm so tired of it, I've begun bulldozing the buildings that have no water.

Here's an image I uploaded from Photobucket. A bird's eye view of the city.
