  1. Five injured in Cleveland school shooting

Ah... America: The land of opportunity (targets). It might be just me but it seem these kind of things are becoming the "norm" or maybe even cliché. I mean kids dressed in black shooting at random in schools. “He’s crazy. He threatened to blow up our school. He threatened to stab everybody,” Doneisha LeVert said. “We didn’t think nothing of it.” quote> See? Now that is tragic. The whole: "Did you hear about the shooting yesterday?" "Yeah! Tragic, isn't it?" "Yeah... What's for dinner?" My hat down to those behind the media networks and their desensitizing campaigns.[Content] Marc It's tragic that AMERICA needs metal detectors in schools. It's tragic that AMERICANS don't mind needing metal detectors in schools. It's tragic that AMERICANS do not know the meaning of the word "freedom" anymore.
  2. Get your Maxis files here!

Thank you for posting the update for BAT but could you perhaps help me with installing it? I have the Deluxe multi language version installed and tried to install the SC4Update4BAT.exe patch. It didn't work as it said I needed a previous update. I downloaded one from simcity.ea (the filename was UPDATE_SKU1_TO_P1_B638.EXE and it said it was for north america, the others didn't work anyway) and installed it just fine. Afterwards the BAT patch installed smoothly. but when I entered the game the lights still didn't work. Did I do something wrong or do I need another patch or something? Please help if possible.
  3. Berliner Reichstag

Really great bat but somehow I can't get the lights to work and some of the props don't show. Like the flags.
  4. Hello. I wanted to install the WTC Landmark and Reward and to plop it in one of my cities but found out I need the dependency "BSC SimGoober FloraPack Vol 01" which is locked because: "This file has been locked as it is obsolete." Could someone please tell me where to find the dependency needed for this landmark?
  5. Avenues to Highways

One other thing you might try is to place RTMT (Road-Top Mass Transit) stations on the avenue itself and build an extensive subway network to connect the areas needed. The RTMT doesn't take any zoning space as the stations are placed on the road itself and has great capacity. I did this and it relieved the traffic and also the commute time a little.
  6. Hello. I love playing in diverse regions with all sorts of terrain, especially hills and mountains. I love the challenge and the possibilities presented by such a terrain (maybe because I live in a beautiful wooded town between and on several hills.) But there's one very annoying pain that comes when trying to develop a hillside: ROADS AND LEVELING. I was wondering if maybe some of you more experienced players have developed any tricks (perhaps even mods) that can tackle this side of the game. Perhaps even landscaping ideas and zoning strategies for hill sides. (by the way, could any of you guys please tell me if there are any "strategy guides" or such that give pointers, tips, advice, on zoning such as lot size and effect on development, etc). My currently preferred zoning choice is carving plateaus into the hillside (like Mayas did for agriculture) and connecting them with sloping roads. My main problem with this is the unbelievable and unrealistic slopes the game allows for roads and other transportation means. I wish to use gentle slopes and if necessary serpentine climbs to connect different levels but this is very hard to achieve using the tools I currently have at hand in the game. I have already learned a few tricks such as using single street blocks to level terrain and create beautiful, almost vertical cliffs, instead of the more expensive leveling tool the game supplies. But I am wondering if there might be a more precise way or tool that would soften a slope. The soften tool in the God mode panel is just too large and effects the entire hillside instead of just the small 3x5 space the sloping road usually needs. In the picture below is an area I have just begun developing in a neighboring town. I like to use 2x4, 3x4 or 4x4 lots because I noticed the later high rise buildings (stage 3-4 I think, with 1000-3000 occupants) use this lot size, and any larger lots do not develop. This is why the slope is usually only 5 tiles long, four for the building and another one for the actual cliff face.
  7. Try using an avenue to switch at the end of the highway to normal roads. Just drag the avenue straight into the end of the highway, it's easy access and much more appealing. As for the airport... A international airport take a few months to be built so have patience. Use the fastest speed if you don't have anything else to do.
  8. Dark Airport.

When the Major Landing Strip became obsolete with the Cities population reaching over 200k I decided to build a larger airport. Keeping in mind my plans to make this "little town" into a thriving metropolis I reserved some space on a plateau at the edge of town for a International Airport but since it wasn't yet required I built a Municipal Airport in it's place thinking of building over it when it also became obsolete. Soon enough though I noticed something strange about this airport. A few months after it had been placed it turned a dark grey, like abandoned building do, and the crime level in the airport was almost off the scale, with the police helicopters constantly buzzing around there. Also every time I begin the game the airport statistics show 0 usage even though when I saved last time it was used normally.
  9. I have SimCity 4 Deluxe and are developing the first region quite nicely but there's just one problem: The highways I have built aren't shown on the region view map. They only show on the transportation map. This is weird as there seem to be bridges over rivers connecting to nothing and large gaps in my cities. Not even the huge cloverleafs aren't shown. Is this a bug?
  10. Environment bar always red

The Environmental bar is just a generalization of the environmental situation in your city. After a certain size it will almost never be completely green even if most of your city is green, as log as some of it si yellow or red. But I have managed to create a town with 10k population, commercial and industry (each) and with the environmental bar 2/3 green by placing only IHT (high-tech industry, courtesy of the large metropolis next tile away) and allowing only R$$ and R$$$ to live on a island. Also placed as much public transportation as I could to reduce traffic and linked most of my industrial zones with rail to reduce the trucks on the road. Plus tried to make the island into a paradise by planting relatively many parks and gardens and trees where I had the spare room such as on slopes. I also only used Windmills to power the island and imported electricity for the industry (as industry really gobbles up electricity), and exported all the trash to a neighbor that had the garbage incinerators, coal power plants, dirty and manufacturing industries that pollute a lot (and keep get the message that city skyline is missing. Basically the worst level pollution ever. The entire map is RED. But pollution doesn't spill over in neighboring cities so I don't care much.)
