INDIANAPOLIS, IN was founded in 1821 as the state capital. Its location in the middle of Indiana's rich farmland bore terrific commercial advantages, but the absence of a navigable river prohibited the transportation of bulky materials such as coal and iron to sustain heavy industry. Nevertheless, it has become one of the biggest cities in the world not accessible by water, attracting food, paper and pharmaceutical industries, including the giant Eli Lilly Corporation. Today the city has shaken off such nicknames as Naptown, India-no-place and Brickhouse in the Cornfield in favor of its chosen designation as the country's unofficial amateur sports capital

Indianapolis has sweet high-res, and I zoomed in on the Speedway, where you can make out cars. Keep up the good work. quote> Thanks riffsyphon! i will definitely check it out -

adambrown14ADAM14: Thanks for the comments! I've been looking at your Chicago CJ too, and i must say, i am very impressed. here is the progress i made over the weekend. I didn't really have much time to work on it because of Grand Prix week. If no one knows what Grand Prix week at Purdue is, I will try to sum it up in one paragraph: Welcome to the greatest college week of all time... where a campus of 40,000 students celebrate a seemingly ordinary go kart race by engaging in a week of mind blowing, wasted beyond your wildest dreams, non stop parties ...where class shuts down & drunken students stumble from bar to bar, frat to frat, street to street, drinking everything in sight & no amount of alcohol poisoning can stop them ... where it 's more than acceptable to start drinking the moment you awake, & slipNslides, mud wrestling, beer pong, live bands, & power hours are a daily occurence...welcome to the greatest college week in America as rated by Sports Illustrated, PlayBoy & The Princeton Review. sorry about the rambling, here is the pic: -

Date: 4/24/2005 1:04:39 PM Author: uncrazycooper13 looks cool. I thought you said that Indianapolis was one of the largest cities not located on water? But I see a river whats up with that? lol -uncrazycooperquote> I said it was not accesible by water. The white river runs through downtown, however, it is too shallow for traffic. -

Date: 4/23/2005 7:10:54 PM Author: atpayne Excelent. My home town. I have seen the Bank One building in exchange before but not any other Indy buildings. Do you have any skilled bat'ers working on buildings from Indianapolis? One that I think would be very cool to have in your city would be the Pyramids. I need some skilled bat'ers to do a couple of main buildings (I understand if no one wants to take the time). I myself am not a batter nor do I really have the time to start right now, but maybe someday! Here is an initial list of buildings that I need: AUL Building (now One America) 533 ft. One Indiana Square 504 ft. Market Tower 421 ft. 300 North Meridian 408 ft. First Indiana Plaza 401 ft. City County Building 372 ft. edit: here is a really good website with pictures. however, you have to register to save the pictures http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/ci/bu/?id=101039 -

Keep em coming! when i get back into the game tomorrow i will take a look at the spacing. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//INDY.jpg align=baseline> -

FRO: Thanks for your help. If you know anything about the northside, I would appreciate it. I live on the southside, so I don't venture up there much. I have a couple more pics. I only made a little progress from yesterday. It is Grand Prix week at Purdue, so I will be making somewhat slow progress the rest of the week. I am using Mallow's map. I made some minor touch-ups though. I am also using a slew of BATS and Modds and i also use cheats. So thanks to all who made these wonderful creations. Date:1/10/2005 8:34:09 PM Author:forestpark Date: 1/10/2005 2:54:48 AM Author: Pilot3033 EGLL: London Hethrow is claims that title, KATL Atlanta Hartsfeild (or Harts Feild) Claims that title for the U.S. Only And besides, the most importan airfeild that should be included in a Chicago region is (teh airport formely knonw as) Merril C. Meigs Field. Daley took a buldozer to it 2 years back, but it owould be great to itt it in the CJ (use a Municipla or small airfeild ont he island). -Matt I know, I'm picky quote> I just checked it out and you are correct. That airport in Atlanta is the busiest in the US. It handles over 77M passengers while Chicago's O'hare International handles over 72M. L.A.X. came in third. No wonder, I went to Jacksonville Florida in December of '04. On the way to and from Jacksonville, our plane stopped in Atlanta and both times it seemed to take forever to be cleared for take-off. Anyway, I understand Mayor Daley's decision to bulldoze the runways of Meigs Field. We all remember what happened in 2001. For those of you not from Chicago, Meigs Field was a tiny airport right off Chicago's Downtown coast. At first, the mayor asked Downtown Chicago to be a no fly zone, too much of a terrorist risk to allow planes to land close to building's like the Sears Tower, Hancock Center, Aon Center, etc... not to mention all the students and staff at Universities in the area such as UIC, Columbia, Roosevelt, De Paul etc... Also, the airport was right next to the then 66,000 seat Soldier Field (home of the Chicago Bears) and also next to McCormick place, a huge convention center. Mayor Daley decided to bulldoze Meigs in the middle of the night, as to not have anyone stop him from doing it. The next morning the mayor expressed his anger at the government for not granting his request that downtown Chicago be a no fly zone, while Disneyworld was a no fly zone. I hope to see it in the city journal as well. why not? sure would look good There's Meigs. You can see it's proximity to downtown. You only get to see HALF of McCormick Place to the left, while the red and blue seats of the old Soldier Field can be seen below the Sears Tower. quote> That sneaky Daley As a pilot it was always my dream to fly into Meigs Field. Almost everyone I know in the Aviation community signed petition after petition to open it back up, but to no avail The region looks awesome, keep it up!

Date:1/18/2005 4:21:38 PM Author:dragondude65 Krillin: Your city looks good. But , isnt the Eli Lilly International Headquarters ALOT bigger building then what you have ? What did you use for Union Station. Also , what year is it in your city it looks as if you dont have the Bank 1 or any of the newer buildings. Dragon: Yea the Eli Lilly HQ is a whol lot bigger than that. I just don't have a building that looks anything like it. I just used the 2 research centers provided in the game as they provide the closest function to the Eli Lilly Center. For union station, I used a passenger station that i picked up on the STEX(can't remember who made it- sorry to whomever made- I give them credit). The real Union Station is actually on top of meridian st. just north of south street. The year of the city is around 90 or so. I havent put in any modern buildings yet because my region can't support them yet. I am also having a hard time putting in the Bank One Tower because it seems too tall for the scale of region i am using. If you or anyone else can find an accurate scale map, that would be awesome! Edit: I would also like to point out that I pretty much just eyeballed the whole thing. so in general it is similar, but no where near exact.

Below is where Washington St. Splits into Maryland St. One way east (Blue) and Washington One Way west(Red). You can also see Victory Field and the RCA dome Just south. Here we have part of the canal downtown with West St.(pink) and Indiana Ave.(Yellow). Ohio St. is just north of Military Park(bottom left) Next we have the south downtown area. You can see West St.(Pink). the next st. over is Capitol Ave. (Lt. Blue) Next st. is Illinois St.(Pastel Orange). The Next one is Meridian(Burgundy)which runs through the circle. Madison Ave. is in Red(near the bottom) and you can see it splits into two one ways. Delaware is a One-way north(Blue) and Pennsylvania is a One way south(green). I-70 is in yellow. And finally you can see the Eli Lilly International Headquarters, just north of I-70. I hope this can help!
