It paved the way for every American's phone to be wired and listened into, their mail to be read by the government, and a secret camp for 'detainees' with no due process of the law. Osama has failed to be captured, and there is a reason -- Afghanistan is a violent region, and he would be impossible to find in the mountains. But, even if the Amercians did capture him, there could be no trial because there is no evidence and no one has charged him with anything. If the USA was to be turned into a fascist or totalitarian state by the Bush administration, they did a miserable job of it. That all said, this is truly a day to remember, regardless of ideology or beliefs. MS Office "classes" are pretty much a waste of time -- Office is very prevalent and a person can teach themselves easily. NCLB is a failure in concept and execution. Politicians are under two delusions: 1. Standardized tests will make people smarter and will improve the schools. 2. To quote Nancy Pelosi, "Innovation begins in the classroom". The quote mentioned above has no evidence to support it. Thomas Edison, John Dalton, Ben Franklin, Socrates, Gottfried Liebniz, Michael Farraday, Mark Twain, et. al. were all self-educated and had limited or no formal schooling, yet they are considered some of the most smart and innovative people. The reason -- people who really want to learn something will learn it, with or without schools, tutors, and teachers. Self-educated people, from my experience, are more "outside the mainstream" in ideology and intelligence, because they were not "mainstreamed" and moderated with others and had little interference in their activities. Most of the information I have did not come from schools or teachers, and I consider myself more fortunate than the other, mainstream people. I am also for the decompulsorization of schools and "education". I am not for or against government-sponsored schools, but I do believe that people should not be forced to go to an insttution if they do not wish to do so. I support an end to "child labor" laws which discriminate against youth and herd them into schools. A simple solution the governments overlooked in the end of the 19th century is simply give full labor rights to children, including minimum wages and the right to form unions. But, no one will listen or examine these arguments without bias. But, it will happen. Just as Civil Rights for blacks happened. Hmm... wandering off-topic here. I have built a connecting avenue on the southern edges of Adamsburg. It connects the avenues that intersect CR-25 with East Adamsburg, in a more direct way. Here's a regional view of it's route: And here is where it enters Adamsburg proper, and turns into an RHW expressway: Note the at-grade GLR crossing, only permitted on expressways, not freeways. And below is a showcasing of the curve: To the west is the end of the RHW portion, and an intersection utilizing the previous roundabout variation: I have exprimented with the design in other places, and it turns out to be very efficient. Lastly, here is a diamond variation that entails the splitting of the secondary road. The thing about this is that there are no traffic lights on the intersections, which has the strange effect of improving traffic flow: I believe Haljackey did something similar in the GTR, and I have found the pic showcasing it: Interesting, isn't it? A new residential development has been built in Hanging Cliff, east of the ring road: It is designed to connect the two areas of Hanging Cliff with a contiguous development.
