Dutch Columbia - Discover something new..
edmonton_stinks replied to sEAhAwk fAn121's topic in SC4 City Journals
Wow, the industries are great! Very urban, though New Amsterdam doesn't look as depressed as some of the grittier CJ's I've seen. I was somewhat surprised to see tennis courts on top of such gritty looking apartment buildings. Maybe that area is more expensive than it looks. -
The airport is looking cool! I like the freeway leading towards it.
-
Good choice with the locations! I'm anxious to see how the development goes.
-
Great work on the business district, the panorama is particularly impressive!
-
That is some spectacular scenery! Fantastic work.

Another great small town, but I'm really not crazy about the neon font. -

Wow, I got here just in time! The plot is thickening and I don't want to miss a minute! -
Great airport! The surrounding area seems to be surprisingly wealthy considering its proximity to the airport.

That's quite a Simlympic complex you've got. I'd vote for it! -
gn_leugim: Thanks! I really appreciate the help. I spent a few hours working on colour variation #1, and came up with this. The house is green, but with a brown rock texture on the front. Paint kind of skewered the image quality, but it still looks fairly close to the real thing. I also plan on doing brick, half-brick-half-white, a red with brick, possibly blue, and whatever else I think looks good. In the real-life neighbourhoods a large majority of these houses are white and variations on white, so I'm trying to make the SC4 versions a bit less boring and dull.

It is a lot of surface area! That one building is extremely long! I wonder if it could be released as individual W2W's? Looks great so far!

Okay, so a lot of people don't seem to like the roof. I don't wish to change the colour, however, because the roof is that same golden colour on the real-life house. I tried to perfect the colour so that it was yellow, but not bright yellow. It's kind of an earth tone. Now, I have a question. I want to make a lot of colour variations on this house and future houses that I'll be making. How do I go about: -Exporting houses that all have the same name, even though they were made and exported at different times? -Condensing all those houses into a single .dat file for the purposes of uploading? If anyone can answer these questions, that would be great.

Great highways, as always. I can't wait to see what you do with the airport!

Those custom houses definitely need windows on the sides, I don't really like the blank walls. If you were to do that I think you could post them on the STEX and do quite well! Don't get the wrong idea, though, I like the houses and everything else about them, as well as the great skyscraper mosaics! -
Excellent work! That huge train station is a great addition to the area, and there's great building variation among the offices. Seems like a great place to live and work, as long as you don't mind the crowds!
-
You really are a stickler for details, Jason. I don't know how you could look at a building like that and see anything but perfection.
-
Bit of a shame about the forest being extinct, but the new complex looks great!

Are any of those rowhouses not bought yet? I'm liking the small town atmosphere. -
Another great update. Portsmouth certainly grew fast!
-
Unfortunate, though real life always takes priority over SC4. I look forward to seeing you again!

Punch me, for not having commented on your spectacular CJ sooner! That town is absolutely fantastic. I don't know how many plugins you have but clearly there are a lot of them! If you're worried about some buildings superseding others, you could always make them historical, though it does take a whole lot of effort and time.

Wow, great town! The shopping centres look great, and the suburbs are really green.
-
Well, that still leaves a lot of downtown unseen... Those two pictures are great, though! Spectacular river.
-
That store definitely looks brand new! Stores tend to renovate a lot, a Safeway about 10 minutes from me has renovated 3 times in the past 10 years, I think.

Wow, a contest! Shame I don't have Photoshop. Beautiful hotels, though.
