Good luck doing this. We tried this a year ago or something, and no one got around. Plus, the map takes 5 minutes to load starting point, its huge (25km x 50km or something). Downtown is especially hard to create. I remember doing so, and you won't want to do it. Downtown is simply too hard/impossible, and you don't want to waste your first 5 minutes just loading maps, do you?

  8. City of EDMONTON

I have a suggestion for you, TJD. I noticed that the avenue below the cliffs are a little edgy. Perhaps you could level it and repave the road so that it would look flatter and neater. Just a little thing like that could cause a ton of perfectionist's problems. Hope you don't work your ass off trying to do all of that!

Date:10/22/2004 7:43:04 PM Author:Isaac_Newtown Date:10/22/2004 5:04:44 PM Author:Mistro atually there not floating. There supported like bridges all the way from the bottom. As for power line bridges... what do they look like? quote> Nope, they don't seem to be supported all the way down at all. So they must be floating. And how would such a bridge look? Well usually, like a suspension bridge but without the vehicle deck. It's called the catenary wire method, and the power cable is hung from the suspension cable. With this way of doing it, great distances can be spanned. Hope that helps. Cheers. quote> Those are some pretty steep beaches you have there... It would be funny, but I'm not funny.

so... I was thinking that Community On-Goings, City Journal, or General Discussions (or even Mod General Discussions) would be a great place to start sign-ups. I'll need either a vote or approval of a high command (ae: the7trumpets... if he ever gets back here). Yep. cheers

Ooooh. Which building will make it as your new city council building? Your photo taking skills are also amazing. That shot with the coal mine makes it not out of place. Keep it up!

  22. Realism Project / Mod Development

Page 7... What we've done so far: 1. Established the map we're going to recreate. VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA. 2. Motina has made a map that is online on the Map EXchange. All large city tiles (4 x 4km) 3. Now let's plan this thing and develop some mods! What we need to do: 1. Find a central mapping source and cut it out into squares for modellers to use. 2. Decide who will build where (I'll have an enlarged config file later). 3. Download the map and build that assigned area ACCURATELY AND EXACTLY. 4. One central upload person who will import all modelled maps onto their map. We'll need to figure this one out: Should we build on the modelled maps or just submit streets and zones only? Actions to be taken now: 1. Make a sign-up thread in the appropriate forum (one that will get attention though...). 2. Take a config sign-up thingy and post it in that thread (I got it, very fun!) 3. Get started on city building! 4. And the importer should have THE realistic mod and let the cities grow. That's it! Any comments?
  23. City of EDMONTON

I'm impatient... It's a good thing other projects like Myst Valley keep you sane. Otherwise this will overtop your head!
