  1. Is there a way (a mod maybe?) to slow down traffic? It seems to me the cars go way too fast, especially on avenues. GLR goes even faster. It looks a bit silly to have a tram zooming around at what looks like 250 kph.
  2. Slowing down traffic

No, I'm running at the default (slowest) speed. On avenues it's particularly noticeable, they just go way too fast.
  3. Comparing Simcity and Cities XL

Well... last time I looked at CXL was a year or two ago, and it certainly seemed better then. I see some people say it's still in the early stages of development and more features will come. I will perhaps look at it again in a few years, and stay with SC4 when the citybuilder bug bites me in the meantime.
  4. Single Player

Multiplayer is something I perhaps would try, but no guarantees. If there is no region analogue in the single player, well, no. I don't want to go back to single cities with no connection after SC4, so I'd just keep playing that. What's up with the subscription thing? What are we paying for? The reason MMOs have subscriptions is because there's a huge cost involved in running servers for hundreds of thousands or millions of people and constantly developing content. With conventional games, however, it's usually the players hosting the games with dedicated servers. Why can't this be done in CXL?
  5. Simcity4 and Win Vista

I think the dual core problem only applies to AMD processors. SC4 doesn't have any problems with Vista as far as i know. It's either some of your drivers (try updating as Need4Camaro said) or possibly faulty plugins.
  6. Threads?

Everyone i've heard (including some game devs) has always said that multithreading is something that needs to be built into the game from the ground up and can't be just patched in. But i know little about the matter myself.
  7. The environment meter is silly. In a functional, mostly clean city it's usually still red all the way. So i just don't care about it. It doesn't really matter.
  8. What Do I Do!?

What do you need money for if not for construction and providing services to the people? You really don't need to have hundreds of thousands at all times, but i find i almost always do, anyways.
  9. Show us your airport!

Hmm... This thread has very much inspired me to make more realistic airports. Is it possible to make the game think it's a real, functional airport, as in, make it work like the default airports? Perhaps blank lots giving you the advantages of airports?
  10. Help with 1x1 $ growth

And that's region population. You could just build a small farming village somewhere. They are always nice, and also an easy way to get those 1x1 lots.
  11. The Ultimate Particle Accelerator

Santos16 - A black hole is caused by gravitational collapse, that is, the object's internal pressure isn't enough to resist it's own gravity. Theoretically, they could apparently be formed by high-energy collisions, but i know nothing about that really, except that it hasn't been observed. Not yet, anyways.
  12. Question about time between cities

Amount of jobs and residents do matter. Time doesn't. If you have a town with 10 000 people and the neighboring town has 10 000 jobs, it works. Yes, if you had 100 jobs for 10 000 people, they wouldn't have enough jobs.
  13. Are There regions in 'City Life'?

I think some way to make huge maps, be it regions a la SC4 or not, is a must. After SC4, i really doubt i could play a game where i am severely limited in terms of space.
  14. Springfield The Entire Simpsons City

    That map is unofficial, though.
  15. Well, i got my new computer and of course wanted to install SC4 on it... However, i can't. When i try to install using either autorun or just opening the exe, nothing happens. No process is opened. Nothing at all. I doubt there's anything wrong with the disc as it worked fine a while ago and hasn't been used since. Help would be appreciated. Specs: CPU: Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 GHz RAM: 3GB Kingston DDR2 667 MHz GPU: 8800 GTX 768 MB Windows Vista (probably the source of the problem but i've heard of people running SC4 on it)
  16. ... ... ...... No way. Just no way. I can't believe it. I had disc 2 in. :/ I search for new drivers and stuff, i search everywhere.. And it was down to this. This is hilarious.
  17. I've tried the compatibility modes, all of them. They didn't help. I am the administrator and there are no other user accounts.
  18. What Cobhris said. It doesn't look like a particularly busy area.
  19. Bye. Whether you like ST or not, moving stuff away from here certainly won't help to make it more popular.
  20. Everything British!

    Evil Weasel, try http://sc4devotion.com/.
  21. Monte Cristo is at it again...

This looks very promising. Even if this is just an eyecandy promo render, it probably still shows the direction the game is going. I eagerly await for more news and hope they will be good. You know you need 3dsMax to make new buildings for City Life. A program costing thousands of dollars to make custom content for a 30 dollar game seems odd to me. I hope if they make this thing, they at least let us import old .3ds or .obj models. If not, then there will be almost no custom content for this game. quote>If they want people to make content, the game will most probably support the free Gmax. Many games do that.
  22. That game from Monte Cristo... (City Life's developer) Looks pretty good. Even though it is too just a single screenshot from an unfinished game, it looks so much better. Both the graphical style (which is very important in a game like this) and the graphics (not that important to have the best graphics ever but it won't hurt) look better than SCS. Realistic looking buildings, real cars... It just looks so much more realistic than SCS. I don't mind the adverts either, i think they can add to a game like this when they are placed realistically, like on that bus stop/whatever. It might be just a render, but i think it shows the style they're going for.
  23. I don't get it what this has to do with The Sims. I'm not it's greatest fan, but i've played it. It's not a cartoony, simple game, which SimCity Societies seems like. I hope it's not, though, as we still don't know too much about it.
  24. Sim City 4 Sluggish

Try updating your display drivers. Or, if it's just the new drivers that cause problems, then reverting to older drivers might do the trick.
  25. Oh, the Simtropolis chat. Thanks.
