I'm trying to design a nice rural/country/mountain town with some farms, and spread out houses, and a small central town, but my problem is transportation for the citizens to work. Things abandon too easily, and that was when I was placing tons of bus-stops and providing a railroad for commute. I want to make things look realistic, but I also want it to be functional. Any suggestions for building an aesthetically pleasing, yet functional rural area?

Thanks for the welcome and the tips, I'll be sure to check those out. As I work with the game more, I find my cities becoming a bit more realistic, but I still have a long way to go until I can get anywhere near those masterpieces in the city journals!

First off, I'm glad to be at this site, from what I've have seen it seems to be the definitive SimCity4 community! I purchased the Deluxe edition with Rush Hour a few days ago, so suffice to say I'm rather new to the game! lol. I have done my best to read through the rules & FAQ sections of the site, so if these are repetitive and/or extremely stupid questions, please excuse me lol. 1) I am aware that there are 2 regions for download of the official SimCity4 site, but I was wondering if there are others available elsewhere? (perhaps I missed them here...I know there are custom buildings here, but didn't see regions...) Basically I'm looking for some really pretty, nicely designed cities with nice suburbs, etc, because I have discovered I am not so go good at desigining those! *EDIT* I realized I should say that I'm talking about downloads with roads and parks and transit systems already placed, not the ones where lakes and mountains and such are placed, I know those are available lol 2) Are there "floor plans" so to speak, of regions that I could follow to build a nice city? The same applies above, my cities tend to look awful (probably doesn't help that I'm a bit of a perfectionist and love to have perfectly laid out cities lol). I'm hoping if there was something like this I could follow, I could learn to better design my own in the future. I have read the Tips & Tricks section on the official site as well, it gave me some ideas, but my cities still look like a giant mess! lol.
