With the announcement of SCS/SC5, Simtropolis has actually gained a lot more in terms of posts and such. Nothing is going wrong, its just a phase. As for the STEX, there is plenty of quality coming out. Just the other day there were two or three uploads from NDEX. Don't underestimate the power of the dar....Simtropolis.

I agree with SR! That is looking damn good!

How exactly can I make this work for the BAT? I would like to experiment, but can't seem to figure this thing out. The readme is not a real big help either.

Great update! Reminds me of Montgomery, Alabama. It has the same basic sprawl pattern on its Eastern and Southern sides.

Frankie's Rural Industry and Other BATs
Frankie_Grove replied to Frankie_Grove's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
I attempted to merge it in to a new scene, however when I selected the file, nothing happened. Usually the "merge" window pops up. I tried to merge a different model, and it came up no problems. Also, I sent the model elsewhere to see if it could be opened, to no avail. -

I think I can incorporate some of my current projects. My focus is more on the facilities that handle agricultural products, as opposed to the fields themselves. Unfortuneatly, the only reference photos for them are ones I take myself, and I live at least 400 miles from the real ones..

Bad news.....The feed mill is gone forever. I got this message when I tried to open it: This loss has caused me to re-think the BAT. I really lost motivation due to this, and my morale is extremely low. Not only because this incident, but that I have yet to release a decent BAT. Things don't seem to be turning out right... However, I did manage to pull myself together and re-start a small portion of the mill. Of course, I don't know where things will go, I am very un-motivated and still rather disturbed at what the BAT did to my model. -
I offer my BATting services for your project. I especially like that portable feeder, and I hope to help with the BATting phase, I can BAT pretty much anything you throw at me, as long as I get plenty of reference photos.

6 in West Virginia charged with hate crime

Originally posted by: DOXXP29 I guess it's just some good ol' trailer-trash family fun on a slow week.quote> I find that rather offensive. I have a lot of friends who live in trailers, and even I have lived in one for many many years. There is nothing wrong with it at all, please don't assume that just because a person is trailer trash means they are poor, moral-less idiots. Originally posted by: coolotter88=/, I thought the sole reason west virginia broke away from virginia was because of slavery.quote> Not exactly, the reason was more so the regional and cultural differences of the two areas rather than slavery. West Virginia had been wanting to secede from Virginia for a very long time, long before slavery was the issue. A hate crime non-the-less but I wonder why these people aren't already in prison if they had really had that many prior arrests. -

This is just the model for an 55' ACF 4-Bay Covered hopper. These are commonly used for commodities such as grains or other agricultural products. This is only a model file, and must either be merged with a new scene, or opened in the GMAX. This model is scaled accurately for SimCity4 while maintaining prototypical proportions. Feel free to use these in your BAT scenes, or make your own textures for them, as none are included. Please notice that textures and couplers are not included. The 4 unloading bays normally associated with this type of hopper are also omitted. They were not included to save polys and because they won't appear in the game due to the angles. DISCLAIMER: You may use these for your own personal use, however DO NOT upload this to another site without my permission. Send me a PM if you wish to upload a set or something along those lines. -
New discovery turns salt water into fuel

It's only a matter of time before the oil companies hamper this research for their own personal benefits like they did for hydrogen cells and other "green" sources of energy... -
World Trade Center 911 Where were you???
Frankie_Grove replied to KingTitan's topic in Current Events
Hm..well I remember being in school in the Augusta, GA area. I was in 6th or 7th grade. It was a test day for some state issued standardized test or whatever. At about 9 or so, the intercom came on telling everyone to keep their TVs turned off followed by an enormous list of early dismissals. By the last period of the day, there were only a few still in class. I did know something had gone wrong by this point. When I got home at 4:00 p.m., to my surprise, both my parents were home and as soon as I came in the door hit me with something about planes crashing into New York, and the Pentagon had been hit too. At first I thought it was some kind of joke and that they were just making that stuff up. (come on I was only in the 6th or 7th grade you know..). Of course, I started watching the news and was quite shocked by what I saw. I still find it rather difficult to believe that 6 years have gone by so quickly.. -
I like it! Reminds me of some buildings in Charleston's historical district. I think it looks good with that palm tree in the picture too, intentionally put there or not

While I may not be able to offer hardcore BAT advice, I can provide moral support Great job so far! I really like that skyscraper you were working on, the factory is very impressive as well -

Originally posted by: ardecila Frankie, I can make one of those logpiles in 5 minutes tops. It shouldn't be hard at all. I'll post a picture-tutorial later, but it basically involves the Array tool and the Random Displacement tool in the Simtropolis Tools collection. quote> Woah! That looks amazing! I do look forward to seeing that picture-tutorial. (This picture is inspiration enough for me to finish the woodchip mills) I have also brought along a mini-update. I started making catwalks, which is the most complicated part. Maybe not as complicated as it is time-consuming. -

Originally posted by: Mr. Glamazon Oooh! I guess your BAT thread needs comments! I like that you're filling gaps in the game. These BATs are really worthwhile. However, on the subject of double or even triple posting, it's better to edit your old message. Every time you post again, someone's thread gets bumped down, you know? So in general, editing is the key. I'd love to see some kind of sprawling, disgusting, toxic to the eyes and air type factory, belching so much pollution, lol. It makes me sick, which is probably why the game needs it.quote> Thanks for being supportive! It's good to see a friendly face when i check my BAT thread I have started again at the Mills...this next one is a "feed mill". I started it earlier today, and have been doing a little bit of work. I'll show a lapse of what I've done. It all began with this simple hopper car loading/unloading overhanging building: Based on what I saw on in this picture, I decided to make the whole thing. (Notice the loading cover in the distance?) and (this picture..I took myself ) Eventually I BATted the large rusty looking silos. I merged my other grain elevators in to the scene and started making the superstructure: I detailed the super structure a bit: And I eventually got to where I am now: Let me know what you think -
BATs Currently in Progress
Frankie_Grove replied to outriderdriver's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
I call this the "Jigsaw Puzzle" because I have all the models down, I just have to put them together in the right way. In reality, it's a feed mil. Located in none other than Enterprise, Alabama. I have the RL photo that I took and am going by: This is not my picture, but it is still useful reference: -
That is amazing! It looks EXACTLY like Atlanta. Although I would remove a few of the buildings and add more trees, other than that, you got this down!
