Totally unrelated, but why do three guys (I think there are actually more) have the transportation adviser as their avatar? I keep think you are the same person lol.

    Welcome, audubonervin! It must be a lot to absorb, especially after six years of custom content was created! Simgoober has made a variety of very good-looking and useful buildings for the game, so I suggest you check him out on the STEX Also, I'd head over to simpeg.com and create an account. Pegasus has whole sets of buildings to upgrade your shorelines, from seaports to marinas. There is also a multitude of articles in the omnibus to help you make the most out of features in the game.

  4. I've had the "transportation download" from the official ea site for a few years, but i've never figured out what it does, except that it gives me the air force base. But does it do anything else? It has some other boat in the picture, but I've never seen it in the game. Any insight into this would be great.     hmmmm... so I have seen all of those except the paddle steamer and the bi-plane. I'm guessing that they were unfortunately left out. Unless anyone has seen them in game?

    Well, i can't help you with the plugins manager, but if you want to download anything from the STEX, you need to unzip the files into MyDocs/Simcity4/plugins unless otherwise instructed. For some, you will then have to run an installer program that is included in the zip file. As a side note, look out for dependencies for various lots; you need to download these to ensure proper functionality.

  15. I have a city of 350K Sims with a main artery highway going through the central business district and reaching out into the suburbs, after it splits in several directions. But I also have a very large bus system and a slightly smaller subway system. I have also connected the subway to a suburb across the bay (which was only serviced by ferries), and now it gets heavy usage.

    Yes I've had this problem with the free edition, although it only happens the first time I start SC4. If I quit the game then run it again, it starts up faster. Thanks for the discovery! My AVG version is 8.5. For those without this problem, what's your version?
  18. I agree with Ntq$310, you should get PEG's seaport lots. They can add a lot of variety.
  19. In my largest city, about half of my industry uses railroads, otherwise the commuters and the truckers would be competing for valuable road space!

  22. haha yes, also Barthelet Stables and the Barthelet Corporation come from Luc Barthelet, who worked at EA and became the general manager at Maxis when EA bought it. He helped them out of debt and directed them to even greater success.

    I have never seen this before, but try reinstalling the game. If the same thing happens then you will know the problem is with the file and not with the game.

    Yea I have that same problem. It usually happens when I leave my computer for a while. Maybe the disc is showing its age?
