Heath Ledger Found Dead in Manhattan Apartment
purpledaddy replied to confused04's topic in Current Events
Originally posted by: GingerBlokey Very sad of course but it does pay to remember that he was just one of thousands who died today and just because he is famous doesn't make his life worth more than an old woman in Tibet, a child in Rwanda or a middle-aged man in Blackburn. This is how I always feel when I read about celebrities dying.quote> I bet this website would a tribute thread for you if they thought you passed away! ------ I haven't seen all of his roles but Heath Ledger had a natural intensity in what I saw him play. If we want to see Batman as credible in terms of human emotion I bet he will make an awesome Joker! -
I'd be surprised if most members had seen The Birds either. I didn't think of her as "glamorous" but she had a laid back authoritative presence to her and she played in roles that lended credibility to the movies and shows she was in. I also think she had a cute name too!

Hey! Maybe we can all do the Schulmania Avatar!

I think arguably the most distinguishing feature of SC4 came from The Sims: regional play. It looks very much based on the concept of individual playable lots on a neighborhood with action in a lot impacting play on another lot. I wished Maxis would have developed this idea much further and made cities more distinct and contributive to the overall region.

STEX Discussion Thread - Appropriate behaviour on the STEX
purpledaddy replied to Sam's topic in Simtropolis Related
Well I'm gathering materials right now so I can play the game again. Some of the comments have been helping me to determine what's quality or perhaps what could be plagiarism. Some of them are also teaching me what to aim should I ever start to BAT. But I would hope, by the same token, that if I ever did BAT, that people would be polite and encouraging, even if others might perceive the comments as "inane compliments". If were running a race and I was lagging toward the end, I wouldn't want spectators telling me "you're a lot slower than those people way ahead of you!" Again, as a spectator, as long no one is plagiarizing I am appreciative of their contributions! (in my own silly-remarked way of course! ) -

The Current State of the American Health Care System
purpledaddy replied to Psycho_Teddy's topic in Current Events
Originally posted by: SkiGeek Originally posted by: krbe On the issue: Why are so few noting the fact that the US government spends a lot more than most government on health care, and Americans (the citizens) often spending more than Europeans)? I know it might be rude to ask, but how much do your mother make and pay in taxes (so that it could be compared)? quote> Surveys have shown that Americans would rather discuss details of their sex life than details of their finances. My British friends claim this is because some of us are trying to cheat on our taxes. I tried to explain that it was considered rude and just "wasn't done". They didn't buy it. quote> Ahhhhh, there was a Madonna movie, way back when she probably had body parts including blonde hair -and some people actually cared, where she was making everything public she possibly could about her private life. Nothing appeared out of bounds! But when the camera followed her to her office, she went "nuhn huh! This is business!" -

Yeah, but the slogan "Virtual Cities, Real People" makes me wonder if the game is being created by Judge Judy!

Even though I known here mostly for The Sims which I play w/ my children, sometimes after a hard day at work I just want to let some bad guys have it! I know there are some good first person shooters out there. I want a good fun stressful rollercoaster ride full of cool graphics, a story of sorts, easily responsive or intuitive controls while the game itself is potentially challenging. My children (and wife) will be in bed! And I'm definitely okay w/ mixing genres since I'm basically asking about games that get rid of bad guys in a thrilling engaging way, whatever they're labeled. What are your thoughts about Call of Duty IV, World of Conflict, Crysis, Gears of War, Bioshock, Witcher, Age of Empires II, or others? Which should be my next?

I don't know how many times my children have seen "A Charlie Brown Christmas" in July!
