  1. The Great Debate- "Merry Christmas" vs. "Happy Holidays"

Sooooo... today, December 31, around my job at the Real Life Bureau of Bureaucracies, there were a couple of times where I wished people "Happy Holidays" instead of " Happy New Years" without thinking about it. So this time around did I unwittingly fall into the evil clutches of Politically Correct speak this time as well???
  2. SCS a Disappointment?

It's no surprise it's not going anywhere, but it's hardly their fault. Had they rebutted to EA with all the same thoughts much of the SimCity faithful had, it's very doubtful they'd have gotten the job to begin with. Better to just suck it up, build the square wheel, and get paid for it, no? Now that the exercise-in-futility that is SCS is over with... maybe with luck EA will realize that, despite the increasing difficulty, SimCity classic through SimCity 4 worked. Will TM be involved in the next incarnation, if there is one? I wouldn't be upset if so. I have tried out SCS. Ignoring the "it ain't what I like" feelings (not easy, but I tried), the game feels fairly well-written. Graphics are decent, not exactly 5-star, but good for the type of game it is. Everything seems smooth, the interfaces take a little getting used to but are more-or-less intuitive, most of what I've seen "works as designed"... from a QA perspective, I'd give them an A. I still hate the game, but it's by no means due in any way to TM's development efforts. If someone cooks the most scrumptious chicken livers in the history of the world, I'll still hate them quite passionately. Part of me sincerely hopes Tilted Mills is involved with the next SimCity. I believe they could do a great job with it, if they're given the original formula to work with, instead of blueprints for another misshapen wheel.quote> After my experiences with Caesar IV this summer to see if I would want SCS, I think this is being a little generous to Tilted Mill. Ceasar IV had beautiful graphics, especially aerially, and the sims looked credible. But the controls were highly counterintuitive. They weren't where you would they think they should be and they nonresponsive when you clicked on them. I hold TM's software responsible for that.

  12. Call of Duty 4

I played the first Call of Duty way back in the day and it felt like an absolute rollercoaster! There are a couple of FPS's that I'm thinking of getting, perhaps either this one, World of Conflict, Crysis, Gears of War, or Bioshock. I need a good rollercoaster ride and feel my pulse again!
  13. Mystery of ur nickname

Recent experiences in chat have made me realize the need to revive this so I can have something on record. Although... I had no idea this thread was so old! blows off dust. The name "purpledaddy" came from one of my children. That child didn't speak until late in life and only began to identify people by colors. The child first called me, ehem, "purpledaddy". He also called my wife "brown mommy". And then there was green sister, orange brother, brown neighbor, white neighbor, orange grandma, yellow grandpa, pink cousin, etc. It was many years ago and to this day I have no idea what any of that was about. The child speaks regularly now, but I keep the name for sentimental reasons. (I'm just old softie I guess! ) However, I'm also very amused that others associate the name to something odd or kinky. And now I have something real and down-to-Earth to show them!
  14. The New Staff Member Welcome Thread

Hey I get to revive this again! Am I wrong or did Abcdedfgh (or whatever his name is ) become a chat op?
  15. Cool Holiday Logo Dirk!

I couldn't make it out at my silent yet deadly computer at the Real Life Bureau of Bureaucracies. But now at home, your 'spacebar'/'enter' played a old-school yet quite hip holiday tune. Cool! (literally !)

    A day off work!
  20. Gascooker Suburban Houses revisited

Well I tried to go to the sites you linked to for the dependencies, but they didn't go straight to where I could download. So looks like I gotta go to SC4D to dig. Oh well I probably need them anyway.
  21. Gascooker Suburban Houses revisited

Well since I starting back up, I probably will be needing these dependencies anyway so I'll give it a go. It does resemble a lot of CC for Sims houses that I thought have been pretty cool.
  22. Knopf Tower

    Looks great!
  23. Steerforth Tower

Wow there is a a gothic look to it. I'm looking forward to using it!
  24. Jason's BATs & Tutorials

I really enjoyed the three you uploaded yesterday. One of these days I'll have to go back and review your BAT lessons. Your Trixies were really well deserved!
  25. question

May have to check w/ IMDB.com or Simtropolis's own SpecialEddie for confirmation. There may or may not be a "The" in front of the name, but I'm pretty sure of the villian and actor. Even though Batman was campy and bordered on self-parody, it featured a lot classic actors and actresses of the '60's playing guest villians, including Ceasar Romero, Frank Gorshin, Vincent Price, Anne Bancroft, Otto Preminger, Julie Newmar, Cliff Robertson, Milton Berle, Eartha Kitt, Burgess Meredith, Van Williams (w/ Bruce Lee), and the asaid Roddy McDowell. The show was extremely silly but I loved coming home to it from school.
