State of SimCity: Offline Being Discussed; Bigger Maps Not Coming
McGilligan commented on SilentMage's article in News
Wow.. Well I'm glad that they at least made a very clear statement about the city size before the release of the expansion and I'm also very glad that my investment in this game went no further than the base game. What a disappointment -
New Expansion Pack in November - Cities of Tomorrow
McGilligan replied to macscfan's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I'll join the rest of the crowd: No bigger maps, no more $. I love the idea of building futuristic cities but the map size became a major roadblock as I played more. For example I really wanted to try out the game with patch 7, but then I thought of the city borders, and didn't start up the game. It's been sitting idle for too long! The maps are just too small -
Show of hands - Pre-ordered and still around?
McGilligan replied to leptooners's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I've preordered it for $40 on Amazon and also got the ME3 freebie so overall not a horrible deal, but I put down the game after a week. Tried it for a couple days after the 3rd patch and it's been again offline ever since. Didn't purchase any DLC's, not that I'm tightfisted.. for example I already shelled out $300 for Star Citizen - a game that doesn't even exist Simcity is too much of a let down for me to spend any extra dime. I'm not part of the Simcity 4ever! crowd, but the state the current game is in doesn't deserve my $ support. It's a shame because I've been playing Simcity games for over 20 years now. I literally grew up with Simcity and Civilization, henceI want to throw money at these series so that my kids grow up with them too. Civ 5 has really pulled it together with patches and expansions, if Simcity does the same I'll resume my support. -
If you could go back and doit again,,,would you still buy SimCity 5?
McGilligan replied to parenzo's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I played the game for a week after release and haven't fired it up ever since. All bugs, issues aside it just doesn't seem to be as fun; and games by definition should be first and foremost fun! At least I got the $40 Amazon preorder deal so I don't feel too bad. Anyway I would not purchase it again. In fact I managed to convince 3 people so far to not buy the game. EA/Maxis, never underestimate the power of word-of-mouth :kitty: -
Ran it with GTX460 at max everything with no frame drops. That GPU goes for less than $100 on ebay. It's amazing how long this card has lasted me. Games really are not pushing it these days...6670 should be OK too, maybe not ultra everything.

Upgrading roads section by section is tedious and I've noticed that most of the time I end up missing one tiny 20 yard road because of all the surrounding clutter. Are they thinking of "painting" road upgrades? Or even better highlight an area and let all the roads to get upgraded to the desired level.

Civil engineering at its best: I like the way traffic backs up:

Did you guys notice the way the city borders are defined in that image? Zoom in and if yellow is the boundary as it was in the Beta then we will have non-square regions! Look how it curves around the forest, river, etc.
