Can't get your budget off the red?
We need to borrow to expand, but too much could also lead to high taxes and sims escaping to our neighboring cities.
The safest rule of thumb is not to borrow beyond your annual budget. If your taxes earn you $10,000.00 net, you can safely borrow up to the same amount without fearing being over leveraged. Once you've borrowed, let your city run by itself for a few years until you've repaid about half of the original loan before considering borrowing again. How much do you re-borrow? Again, total debt should not exceed total revenues. So if you've $10,000 left from the original loan, but your taxes now earning you $30,000.00, you may borrow another $20,000.
