Ashland

Ashland is a city in Ashland and Bayfield counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It is the county seat of Ashland County. The city is a
port on Lake Superior, near the head of Chequamegon Bay. The unpopulated Bayfield County portion is in the city's southwest, bordered by
the easternmost part of the Town of Eileen.
Trivia:
During the last year of World War I, from March-October 1918, six recorded incidents of vigilantism took place in the Ashland area,
committed against men of German descent, who were suspected of pro-German sympathies.
Balsam

Brule

Brule is a town in Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. The town takes its name from the nearby Bois Brule River, which flows north
into Lake Superior.
Trivia:
In 1899, Professor Ulysses Sherman Grant, of Northwestern University, inspected the Brule, Wisconsin area for ancient copper deposits.
Cable

Cable is located 16 miles (26 km) northeast of the city of Hayward via U.S. Route 63. The Namekagon River, a tributary of the St. Croix
River and part of the Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway, passes through the town.
Trivia:
Cable is the starting point of the American Birkebeiner cross-country skiing race, which ends in nearby Hayward, and the end point of
the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival mountain bike race.
Clam Lake

Clam Lake is an unincorporated, census-designated place in the town of Gordon in Ashland County, Wisconsin, United States. It is located on
Wisconsin Highway 77 near County Highway GG. The entire area lies within the Chequamegon National Forest, an 860,000 acre area spread
across northern Wisconsin.
Trivia:
Clam Lake is well known as the site of the reintroduction of elk in Wisconsin with a herd of 25 in 1995 by the University of Wisconsin–
Stevens Point, which has grown to an estimated 180.
