Welcome to Simtropolis! I've only been here for a year so I don't represent this site in any way, but it's a great place and people are generally very friendly here.

 

I like the planning and the map you've got! I see you joined just a week ago, so I'll go ahead and give you a few tips just to get you going. When I started my first attempt at a CJ last summer, I know all the suggestions I got really made me a much better player.

 

So let's talk about custom content.

 

1) I see you are using the default terrain and trees. Those are fine, its a matter of taste, but most people here prefer custom terrain and trees. To start, I would suggest looking up Cycledoggs terrain mods and tree controllers.

 

2) You are really going to want to download the Network Addon Mod. It is basically a necessity and once you begin using it you'll wonder how you played without it. This is really going to be great for you since you are doing an interstate project. Part of the NAM is a highway mod that gives you a more realistic highway in addition to the Maxis highways. Grab that here

 

3) Well other than that all there really is custom buildings, which you've probably noticed there are a lot of here on the STEX. There's no rush to download these, but they will make the game much better looking and the more you have they will really cut down on repetitiveness in your cities. Here's my CJ incase you want to see what all this put together looks like.

Thanks for comments guys! Very encouraging, especially so soon after my region launch. As far as NAM and custom lots/buildings, I have all the updated necessities. I also have custom trees.....the current setup right now is more for functionality then anything; once the transpo network is established, i'll be able to touch it up with better looking RHW roads. Once again, thanks again for the comments and keep reading, better production values to come!

Just finished a two-day plugin re-organizing marathon....will be using lowkee33's appalachian terrain with northwest trees and some neat seasonal mods, along with a slew of other essentials (NAM, RHW, etc.). What this means is now I can focus on my region and not so much tech stuff. Back to construction!

I am following this project and Journal since Peyton lies to the west and this could someday become the Interstate - 10 West that we've been hearing about that will link ole Peyton to other cities in the future

Perhaps an I-10 connection into St. Matthew, which is the transportation and business hub of my region.
