History of Saturnia (Part 1)
Part 1, (1686-1800)
MAP OF SOUTHEASTERN SIMERI
Being rich and large, a city must have history to add to its vibe. Saturnia's history is long and dated. In August of 1686, several people boarded the Revolutionary off from Longfellow, Simeri, to find the long spoken of other side of the ocean. Many were merchants, thinking a new land would open business opprotunities for them. Many other sought it as a place of religious freedom, or to find a different place for peace of mind.

Captain Victor Lee led the ship on its voyage, arrived finally in October, 1686. The day in which they arrived on the spot near the Concord River and stepped foot in this new land is observed as Founder's Day on October 17. A small space was established, and simple homes and shops were built out of wood. The site has since been destroyed, but the port was rebuilt to closest accuracy in 1986, on the 300th Anneversary.

Saturnia grew by quite a bit in the early 1700's. The area around it had grown, and in 1701 neighboring Kerrytown was established, being the site of people trying to escape busy Saturnia for a new town. Around Saturnia, farming towns grew, making Saturnia the dense area home to the shops and factories. Trouble grew when in 1715, the old nation had decided to attempt to conquer Sim Nation to take the profits of the flourishing nation. With a national government established in Ocean City, north of Saturnia, the government decided to deny the proposed merge. In the southwest of the Pearson Bay, the city of Lobera, in the Province of Lobera, had citizens in favor of becoming part of the more powerful nation. In 1717, the old nation's army decided to attack Ocean City and Saturnia. As the ships sailed into the bay, Saturnia was prepared. Many people fled to the nearby farmland, others stood to fight. Little attention was paid to Saturnia, making it the easiest to defend. Saturnia lasted, making it capable of withstanding these attacks.

One of the darkest days in Simerian History, on November 3, 1721, Loberan troops pillaged the Kerrytown Market in Kerrytown, the city south of Saturnia. They stole all the foods and products in side, and threatened with arms all who opposed them. Outraged, Kerrytown citizens set out to find answers on the event, with Saturnia obligated to follow. After learning that Lobera governer James Sanders allowed the army to attack Kerrytown, Simeri declared war.

Saturnia itself played a major role as the border between regions, but Lobera was burned to the ground within 5 weeks of the attack. Little was Saturnia's role in the next few years, but Simeri had proven itself a powerful nation. In the end, Simeri had defeated the Simerian army, and Lobera had been reduced, a new era had been born.

In 1738 the Saturnia State House was completed, and Saturnia was established as a major city and a hub port. The city's original boundaries were disbanded, and Saturnia grew outside of the small piece of land it once was. Expert city planner Melvin Byrd laid out a plan for Saturnia, giving plenty of land for further development. This included one major avenue heading north, with 3 heading east and west. In 1754 the Saturnian Stock Market was established, which led to many people purchasing stock. Economic crisis soon followed. Fights over stock broke out. Saturnia had entered a state of crisis, with many people still flooding into the city for the benefits it had to offer. By 1760 the population had reached 50,000. making it the largest city in Simeri. The crisis was eased in 1769, when industries started. With factories opening up, the majority had factory jobs building a strong middle class. In 1776, while Saturnia was flourishing in Industry, Kerrytown suffered. Saturnia absorbed Kerrytown, making it part of the city.
