Kitimat-The capital city of the Northern Province I
To start an old newspaper I found in my files.
The city Hall of Kitimat was built in 1921, replacing the old city council building. It was renovated in 1982 but kept its charm.
Main Avenue as it enters the city core. One the oldest building can be found at this intersection. It houses the Imperial Bank branch since 1911. It is known locally as the Olde Building.

The Entertainment District spans 3 blocks of the city centre. Regal Theatre, Imperial Theatre, and The Orpheum Theatre are found here.

The University of Kitimat (UofK) is the second oldest in the country. It was charted by Royal decree in 1885, the first classes were held in huts next to the railway station. The construction of the campus started in 1908, stopped in 1912 because of the war, and resumed in 1915. The campus opened officially in 1917. Set in Yellowhead Point, it is considered one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. The university is well known for its engineering degree; more than half of the countries are UofK graduates.
