Introduction to the Capital City: Noorderstad

Noorderstad is the capital of Dutch Columbia and the second largest city after New Amsterdam. The city was founded in 1696 as a northern trading post and flourished due to its fertile farming land abundant water. Noorderstad was named the capital in 1731 of the flourishing Dutch Columbian Colony. When Dutch Columbia declared independence from Cascadia in 1875 the city was once again the capital but this time the capital of a nation. Noorderstad is situated in the District of Hollandia which is comparable to the District of Columbia in which the United States Capital is located. The city is home to over 1.2 million people and has one of the largest growth rates in the nation.
