#5 Welcome to Islandia. Financial center with airport.

Welcome to Islandia! This group of islands is an important commercial center for the region. The small portion that is the mainland area of this municipality has an airport, of which the runway extends on reclaimed land. Not too far from the airport you can find the Jackson Port (Remember from Jackson City?). Islandia City is made up from several bridge connected islands, one ferry connected island and a small portion of the mainland. The four bridge connected islands are, from north to south: Nisla, which is actually a peninsular, Minica, which has some commercial buildings and the cities trash boat facility, Buchery, a very expensive island to live on and finally Deslus, which has a booming economy right now. The island not connected by any bridges is Isle of Jackson, famous for where Jackson first landed when he came to settle in this area. On the mainland we find New Portville, a residential and commercial area next to the airport, the harbor and the old village Portville.
Here you can see the bridge connected islands. The first island to be inhabited was Nisla. Buchery was next: a few wealthy Islandiars got together and decided to build their dreamhouses on the island. After the airport was built, commercial demand skyrocketed, and because of that, residential demand did as well. Deslus was quickly connected by a bridge and the island was quickly inhabitated, which explaines the grid-like streets: it was the quickest way to build as many buildings as possible. After the island was finished, traffic on the bridges between the islands got busier and some smart entrepeneurs built some offices on the island connecting Nisla and Buchery.

Next stop: Isle of Jackson. This little island is believed to be the first piece of land in the area that Jackson set foot on. That's basically all the history it has, because he never built anything there. Nobody knows why the island is inhabited, as it is only accessible by ferry and really small. Some people claim the people that live there are part of a strange sect, because people rarely travel to and from the island.

Islandia and Jackson were steadily growing, so the small landingstrip in Jackson City wasn't big enough to answer to the rising demand. The Islandia Peninsular was chosen as the best location for a new airport, because of it's water-surrounded character. In the future, expansion is possible in the eastern direction by reclaming the land between the peninsular and the Hutchville municipality, seen on the right in the picture. The airport has three terminals: the large, international terminal, the national terminal further south and the southernmost terminal is the business terminal where people can board their private jets. New Portville is, just like Deslus, a commercial and residential area built as quickly as possible. It also houses the Portville University.

Thanks for your attention. Now let's go back to our hotel in downtown Nisla.
