SimAnt-Laser Spider?

I'm sure some of you remeber the Maxis classic SimAnt! 

My brother has been playing it, but something weird has been happening and I was wondering if there is a cheat code he is accidentally activating or something. What  happens is the spiders footsteps sound gets all crackly and this red line flashes in front of the spider making a laser shot sound and any ant that touches it dies! Very weird!

Anyone know anything about this?

Sounds like a mod to me... No cheat code should do that.

Yeah, SimAnt was a fun game... until my sister carelessly knocked the disc on the floor, failed to notice, and inadvertently ran it over with the office chair several times, thus horribly scratching it beyond any use.

I remember that one. It was quite fun for its day. Fun to go inside the house and build colonies there. I liked the sink map.

oh yeah i remember that game very fun! that darn spider does have lasers if youkill him enough he get lasers and fries everyoneyou can get rid of him by killing him again if you want. hope i helped
