Game controllers/pads and SC4 RH

Does anyone know, or has anyone tried, using a game controller (pad or gaming keyboard) with SC4 RH?  I just got a Saitek Pro Gamer Command Unit and I want to use it to play the game.

Any thoughts?

BTW, the EA tech support forums are...useless.

I'll bet you're right. It's too bad, I find that playing with a standard keyboard (especially for extended sessions) can be frustrating. I find I have to hover my hand over the Home/End keys to place all those great NAM puzzle pieces, heh.

What happened when you tried it.  I thought those things pretended to be either keyboards, mice or some of each.

Well, I haven't tried it yet, because it's still being shipped.

As a follow-up to my original post, I'm curious if most SC4 players have the same gripe as I do. I have to constantly switch between mouse and keyboard and I find that during prolonged periods, that gets frustrating. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that the keys can be remapped, either.

Well, I use the keyboard more than the mouse because there are shortcuts for most common stuff.  Just a matter of learning, I suspect.

FYI, I received the new controller and it does work with SC4 RH. I had to remap some of the keys in it's "RTS" mode, but they work awesome.

BTW, I know all the keyboard shortcuts, I'm just more of a mouse+keyboard person (being used together).
