Until I use the Task Manager to close it. Is this a memory bug that came with the update from the SimCity website.?

thos specs look ok. try running a virus scan and spyware scan. go google Spybot S&D if you don't have a spyware scanner. it's the best free one around.

I've noticed on my father's computer (which is a Celeron 2.6Ghz) that occasionally SC4 will stay in residence for up to 15 minutes while it finishes calculating whatever it was calculating. My computer (a much faster Athlon64 3200+) doesn't have the same problem.

There appear to be occasional delays, especially if you have been working on an especially dense city, usually in a large tile, for a long time.  If this bothers you, before you close your city do a manual save, then when the game holds up your machine, just kill it.

The last resort is to press CTRL+ALT+DEL, go to the process tab, select SimCity.exe or the equivalent, and click on 'End Process'.

I take it you don't have much running on your machine.  It takes my machine about 10 to 15 minutes to do a restart, so I avoid this like the plague.  There are up to five instances of SQL server running, plus a full suite of AV stuff, plus some maintenance stuff and some fast start things.  I sure can't do that.

Yeah. I run practically nothing except for one or two program (I don't even have an antivirus running). If at one time I need to made a system like N_O_Body, I hope I can afford a second PC because I'm one hell of an impatient person. 4.gif

I only reboot when absolutely necessary.  I Hibernate it when I want to power down.

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and I see some do. Occasionally (actually alot) when I shut down Simcity4 and get back to my desktop, I notice in my task manager that it is still running, hogging up my cpu.

This never happens when I save the city, then exit straight out without saving. If I save and quit at the same time or exit to region and then quit the game, it usually shows as still running in my task manager. It will run indefinitely. Is this just because windows is a non-operational system?

    603 MHz PIII

    448 MB Ram

    winXP pro 2002

and yes, the case does lay flat like a desktop computer should

Oh and any ideas on what exactly it is calculating? If I end the process could it corrupt the saved files?

I'm thinking it's doing a regional pic generation, because i think i notice things i previously built won't show up 'till after I restart the city then go back into regional view. I blame bill gates for EVERYTHING!

im like NObody only instead of SQL stuff its several different Instant Messanger Programs, antivirus, open office, spysweeper, limewire,KBTX news 3 weather alerter, etc. Even though i can get firefox to open right off, its slow and if you try to open up BAT it wont be able to load plugins and corrupt whatever files you open.

Back when i used WindowBlinds and Stardock it was even slower, but i deleted that crap, all it does is bog down your system.
