I know there are combined subway/bus stops, but I was wondering if it might be possible to create a facility to transfer between GLR, passenger rail, bus, and subway? If something like this is in the STEX, I haven't seen it. You'd obviously put something like this in your CBD so people could get downtown from their neighborhood using a GLR, or passenger rail if they're coming from a different city. They could then switch to a subway or bus, depending on where they need to go.

First of what does the abbreviation CBD stands for ? (Please don't use to many of them, not all of us has english as 1st language).

Sound like a great idea.

Sorry, 'CBD' just stands for Central Business District (or downtown). I got to thinking that a facility like this would probably work best if it "converted" the traffic, much like those rail-to-subway transitions and stuff. Unfortunately, I'm not very knowlegable with this type of thing and am not really sure, but a lot can probably only convert one type of traffic. What could be done to fix this is to make two separate lots that are designed to be plopped adjacently, so the sims could just walk between them if need be. I know that would be effectly the same thing as putting a roadtop bus/subway stop right next to a GLR station or whatever, but I'm thinking about realism more than making the commute more efficient. I'd also like to see some suburban "park n' ride" type stations...low density parking lots that people can use to take the bus or GLR into the central city. I've tried developing neighborhoods where people have to pass the Maxis parking garage next to a subway to get to work, but they never, ever use it. They'll use a passenger rail station used in the same way, though. I sure wish I knew how to make BATs and stuff myself, but it's been very hard to find the time to get started.

Wait, I think I know what you're asking. Does it have to convert between all 4 on the same lot?

The reason that I'm asking, is that Nob has some GLR/Elevated Rail Stations that convert to Bus and some Passenger rail that converts to GLR and Bus? Let me check, but maybe you can also...his site is here:

    Nob's Website

    edit: Yup, it's there,

    Hiroshima Station + expansion pack

    ?Train Station ?transfer to Bus?

    Yokogawa Station

?Train Station ?transfer to LightRailCar and Bus?

Also here's another site for a really cool transfer between rail and elevated rail:

    Bripizza's Site

Hm. Well, as an ignorant American who knows only one language, I'm not exactly sure what those are...haha. But from looking at them, I don't think they are what I'm talking about. It doesn't have to convert between all four on the same lot. I don't know but I'm pretty sure you can't do such a thing. But what you can do is create four lots that are designed to be plopped next to one another. They could each be 3x3 or whatever, but when you plopped them it would take up a 6x6 area and would appear to be just one lot with four structures or whatever on it. Think about Grand Central in DC, where you can get there by bus or Metro rail, and leave town on the MARC commuter. Although I doubt you could make it look like one single building. In a lot of cities there are what look like huge bus/light rail stations. That's what I think it should look like, but with a subway entrance and a commuter rail station, too. I've attached a drawing that looks like some little kid made. The squiggly lines just indicate that that's where the lots separate, but if their base textures wer alike, it would look like a single lot on a 6x6 tile area. 6x6 might not be a big enough area...but hopefully you guys get the idea. The whole thing should look like a transit enabled plaza or something, and maybe even have some park props as well as newspaper stands, benches, and things like that.

It's not that hard to do the modding of such a station with SC4Tool's Transit Enabling Editor. I suggest to get a basic understanding of the Transit Switch properties (there might be some tutorials out there), but with some logical thinking you should get this sorted very soon.

Basically, Transit Switch properties are pairs, one for incoming traffic (of a specific kind), and one for outgoing traffic. A bus station converts pedestrians in bus passengers and bus passengers in pedestrians. A multi-transit-switch station would need such properties for all types of transportation.

No worries, I don't speak Japanese either, I just download the stuff and take it apart to see how it works. But those above mentioned lot do convert or transfer between the different transit systems.

According to your drawing/sketch, it seems that you are describing something based on a modular type of station or complex? Starting from the upper left of your drawing and moving clockwise, 1= a ground light rail station, 2= a bus station, 3= a passenger rail station, 4= a subway station. These can be constructed as one Lot or 4 separate 3x3 lots that fit together within a 6x6 tile area. This Lot or Lots should also be constructed in such a way as to appear to be a single mass transit station complex or building.

    To clear up some confusion:

"...Grand Central in DC, where you can get there by bus or Metro rail, and leave town on the MARC commuter. Although I doubt you could make it look like one single building..."

The Yokogawa Station does that. It is a single building that converts/transfers between three transit types. The Hiroshima Station transfers Passenger Rail to Bus traffic. So, evidently this is possible. If these stations don't have the look you want, well that's different, other models can be used instead.

Without creating new BAT models, it is possible to create a package of modular lots that when placed next to each other, has the appearance of being a single mass transit building or complex.

If you want I can place this project into my list of upcoming projects, but I cannot garrantee a time. I'm currently involved in several projects of my own. I'm also waiting on feedback from a major project so that I can package and post it.

If someone else doesn't pick this project up, I can begin work in a couple of weeks and have a prototype ready in about a week or so after that, but I can't make any promises.

Also, I myself, do not make BATs, I just 'kit-bash' them. If you see anything that you want out there, let me know and I will try to include the suggested models.

Okay, I looked at it up close, kicked it again and it fell apart, it seems to be some sort of Mine? Rail access thingy. A definite loser.

That would be cool. I'd try to do it myself, but I don't know the first thing about it. Maybe I'll try to learn, but I'm sure you or someone else would do a much better job. Believe it or not, I can actually draw a little. I'll come up with something better over the weekend that should be a little more clear. This one would be better as a modular thing, I think, so a person would have a little flexibility. If you don't have time don't worry about it, though. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.

Go to www.google.com and right beside the search box, last option in the list is Language Tools.  You can translate an entire web page.  When translated, this is what the description says:

It was made for moving between the fixed star,
It is the device for railroad type taking off and landing.
But regrettable, presently it has become the waste line.
It is added with the park.

= Railroad type taking off and landing device =

    Hope that helps...

As for the multi-transit switching it is possible...just look at stuff on the STEX like Raphael's stations that are rail, bus, subway enabled...
