Hello everyone. I've been browsing this forum for a few days and i must say it absolutely packed with valuable info.. it's a great source... however, i was hoping that someone will be able to help me with the following questions. 1. How do you create custom regions? Custom meaning in size overall and size of city tiles. 2. do you have to open every city tile and terraform, or are there some tools that make it easier and faster? 3. I understand that in custom regions the city tiles can be all large or any combination of large medium and small. Are there any advantages/disadvantages to it as far as functionality of the cities is concerned? would you reccomend only large tiles, or, combinations, as in planning the region i'd like tohave some industrial tiles only or residential and so on.... Thanks for all the help in advance

a mixture of cities can boost demand caps...more city connected to a city...the higher the available road connection to new cities, there are some rewards you can only get on med or even large city maps (without mods)

after that...most ppl set the cities up for more personel reasons....some like med cities...other like only large...some are restricted by computer specs to small cites and regions...other it just depends on the region they are playing...the terrian...building a little hobbit town or megatropolis ?

basicly depend on how you play...and how you wanna have fun

config map creation....just use windowpaint...quick and easy...but there are other ways...search the boards under "config map creation"...4.gif

as for making your own region...you can use a existing greyscale JPEG ...there are programs you can download to make custom region (landscaper design is one such program) or you could use the in game's Godtools.. this way you would have to open each city to change the terrian individually...very time consuming but if your willing and able too..4.gif

thank you very much tolomar for your tips. being pretty much unrestricted as far as comp specs are concerned (finally for the first time!) i'd like to do a big project :-) and after many hours of careful planning i dont wanna find out that i shouldnt have built a city on a small o medium tile or carved that river through a wrong sized tile. :-) so yeah, i'm gonna dive deeper into the many threads of this forum and study :-)
