You really have a production line set up for these Wild West buildings, haven't you?

I love the bison and your nightlights are excellent, but what about that rooftexture on your last model it seems to be a bit tiled?

I agree that it looks that way, but that is actually a texture made from the roof of the surviving building ... I was lucky enough to get a good aerial photo to work from, which is a rarity!

Edit: I have updated the roof textures so that it now looks like:

    day_v2.jpgnight_v2.jpg

And the production line continues to roll:

    Wild West Gallows

Round 'em up and hang 'em high. Now you can pass judgement on your unruly Sims in the courthouse, take them outside and deal with them summarily. This is a 1x1 Landmark Lot that has a slightly adverse mayoral and landmark effect, and doesn't do anything to lower crime. I did toy with the idea of making this a police station, but that's what the sheriff's office is for. This is pure scenery to further enhance your frontier towns. As usual a prop file is included for you to make your own lots. If you use this prop in your own releases please do not ... well I'm sure you know the rest by now.

You can find this file on the STEX ... here.

Wild West Sheriff Office and Jail

This is a reworked and rescaled version of the Wild West Sheriff Office and Jail I originally released some time ago, and which has now been locked on the STEX. This version matches the scale of the the other Wild West series, and is better textured and lit. It is found in your Civic > Police menu and acts like a small police station, having just one dispatch and a reduced radius over the normal police station. Stats are given below. Also included is a prop of this model. If you have the original version of this model you do not need to uninstal that first before installing this version, though you may want to in order to save confusion.

You can find this new and improved version on the STEX ... here.

    It now looks like:

    day.jpg night.jpg

I'm not going to repeat the stuff about using the prop in your own files ... I'm sure you know that by now!

    Wild West General Stores

This is a reworked and rescaled version of the building I released some time ago on the STEX, that model now having been locked. It is here presented as a 1x2 Landmark Lot, 1x2 CS$2 and CS$4 growables, and a prop file. Usual conditions with regard to the prop.

You can find this file ... here.

As you can all probably tell, I am currently going through all my earlier models, rescaling them, retexturing them, reworking them where necessary, and making sure that they are all at the same scale as each other!

    Wild West Water Tower

This is a rescaled and reworked version of the water tower I released some time ago on the STEX, that file having now been locked.

Your Sim Cowboys and Cowgirls need not go thirtsy anymore with this 1x1 water tower that will provide 2,000 cu m of water per month. Also included is a prop file for you to use this model in your own lots.

This version is available on the STEX ... here.

    It now looks like:

    p1.jpgp2.jpg

If you use the prop in any releases ... yada, yada, yada.

    Wild West Small Town Church

This is a rescaled and reworked version of the Wild West Small Town Church I uploaded to the STEX some time ago, that file now being locked. This church is presented here as a 1x1 Landmark Lot and a Prop for you to build your own lots using this model. You can find this on the STEX ... here.

For all your Sim Cowboys and Cowgirls to repent their sins, or for their family and friends to say farewell before they are lowered into the ground in Boot Hill. This model is based on a surviving church dating from c.1860, though today it is not in nearly as good a condition as portrayed in the lot!

    WIld West Engine House 21

This is a reworked and rescaled version of the Wild West Engine House 21 I uploaded to the STEX sometime ago, that file having now been locked. This version is available on the STEX ... here.

Modelled on a surviving engine house from (I think) Mississippi (might be Missouri), this small and rather unusual looking building can be found in your Civic > Fire menu where it provides the same coverage as a normal small fire station, though it only houses a single fire appliance. It sits on a small 1x1 Lot.

    day.jpgnight.jpg

The file also comes with a Prop for you to use this model in your own lots. Should you release any of these lots please do not include the prop file with your release but instead point your dependency to this file. Thank you.

    Wild West Feed and Grain

This is a rescaled, reworked and relit version of the Wild West Feed and Grain lot I uploaded to the STEX sometime ago, that file having now been locked. You can find the new one ... here.

Not content with running the local freight station, Ned Kelly has set up his Feed and Grain store in the heart of town. This model is supplied as a 1x2 Landmark Lot, 1x2 CS$2 and CS$4 growables, and a prop for you to use this model on your own lots.

    Wild West Longhorn Hotel

As the cattlemen came to town, so the prosperity grew and the hotel was built and named after the cattle that brought the new growth to the town. This hotel is presented as a 1x2 Landmark Lot, 1x2 CS$$2 and 2x1 CS$$4 corner Lots, and a prop of the building. You can find this building on the SETX ... here.

So happy that you have scaled these all to fit nicely, OnlyPlace4!

I decided to wait and see what you would do, before i commited to DL them.

Kwakelaar is correct; this is not only a great series, it is a successful and ingenious venture, friend!

Keep on keepin' on, OnlyPlace. This could be a great series for the next STEX CD offer!

EDIT: Just noticed a small detail about the hotel, OP4. The hotel should have a balcony surrounding the entire second floor, correct?

I am an avid western movie and history fan(among my 1001 other hobbies).

The brothel and hotel always have that second floor porch all the way around front and wrapping around the side. A place for a quick leap onto my horse tied below, when the sherriff finds me hiding upstairs.

Second EDIT: western definitions: Tack and Harness, Livery, Dry goods, Sundries, Stirrups, posse, saloon, Brothel or cat house, millworks, Wire Office, Pony Express Office, etc. just some buzz words to get your mind popping. hehee. Oh, and what about gunsmiths? We cannot have a western sprawl, without a gun to end a brawl.

Depends on which hotel we are talking about. This new one is based on an original from around 1880, and had no balcony. Hotel Timbuctoo, which I released earlier and is yet to be rescaled and re-released, had the balcony to three sides only, and that model is based on a surviving brothel that is now used as a film set in Old Tuscon.

Gunsmiths etc., to follow. I have a huge list of models I want to make for this series - time, work (I got a new book contract to work on), and children allowing!

    Wild West Sundries Revised

This is a rescaled and reworked version of the model I released some time ago on the STEX, that file having now been locked. You can find this new version on the STEX ... here.

Based on a surviving building from Mescal, New Mexico, this stucco fronted shingle clad building served as a store selling just about anything you care to mention - hence it sold Sundries that could not be classified under a single heading. It is presented as a 1x2 Landmark Lot, 1x2 CS$2 and CS$4 Lots, and a Prop file of the building for use on your own lots.

    Wild West Hotel Timbuctoo Revised

This is a rescaled and reworked version of the model I released some time ago on the STEX.

Loosely based on a surviving building from the era I have made this a hotel rather than the ... er ... how shall I put it ... Gentleman's Entertainment Club that the original building was used as! Ok, soit was a cat house lol Seeing more use during the night than the day, make sure you have plenty of money to spend before you pay a visit to Madam Fifi and her girls!

Presented here as a 2x2 Landmark Lot, a 2x2 CS$$3 Lot and a Prop file of the building for use on your own lots. This new version is available on the STEX ... here.

    Wild West Kellys Freight Revised

This is a rescaled and reworked version of the model I released some time ago on the STEX. It is now available ... here.

Ned Kelly ... no, no relation to the Australian one ... has come to town and set up his freight station down by the railroad. This 3x2 Lot operates in exactly the same manner as the standard freight station and can be found in your railways menu. Even though this place is well lit at night I'm sure there's a dark enough spot for the more unruly element to lay in wait and hold up the train as it passes through! You will find this 2x1 lot, unsurprisingly, in your Railways menu.

    day.jpgnight.jpg

A Prop file of the building is included for use on your own lots. If you use the prop in any releases pelase do not include the prop file but instead point your dependency to the file on the STEX. Just in case you had forgotten 3.gif

Wild West Small Town Hotel Revised

This is a rescaled and reworked version of the model I released some time ago on the STEX. The new version is available ... here.

Offering you the warmest welcome this side of Tombstone, this typical small town hotel from the 1860s is presented here as a 1x1 Landmark Lot and a 1x1 CS$4 corner Lot.

    Wild West Jakes Saloon Revised

This is a rescaled and reworked version of the model I released some time ago on the STEX. The new version is availabe ... here.

Offering you a warm welcome, warm beer and even warmer whiskey, Jake opened his saloon to cater for the thirst of the town which had, until he opened up, been as dry as an Arizona desert. This sallon is presented here as a 1x1 Landmark Lot and a growable 1x1 CS$2 Lot.

Wild West Small Town Bank Revised

This is a rescaled and reworked version of the model I released some time ago on the STEX. The new version is available ... here.

This small stone built bank is representative of many small town banks from the 1840-1880 period, and was most often found, as portrayed here, ona corner. This sallon is presented here as a 101 Landmark Lot and a growable 1x1 CS$3 Corner Lot.

There's nothing more certain than when you come face to face with some of the lowlifes that frequent the local saloon you're going to end up here. This is a 3x3 Landmark Lot (I hope to make it a reward when I put together the Wild West Packs), and provides an essential last resting place for your Sim Cowboys and Cowgirls.

    Wild West Corral Revised

This is a rescaled and reworked version of the file I upload to the STEX some time ago. The new version is available ... here.

After a hard day riding across the prairie, rounding up stray steers, or forming part of the posse with Sheriff Troy McClure, your horse is going to need to be able to unwind in the company of ... no wait, that's you in the Saloon 2.gif Anyway, this is a 2x2 Landmark Lot that provides essential accomodation for the horses of your Sim Cowboys and Cowgirls.

Well that's all the revisions done ... AT LAST!!!! All I have left to do now is create some ploppable versions of the houses, and then I can get back to modelling you NEW stuff. Sorry for all these revisions, but I thought it best to make sure that ALL the models were at the SAME scale, and that the ploppables were the same scale as the growables.

I am going to have all the old files removed from the STEX to save SimTrop space and bandwidth, so after today they will most likely be gone .. forever! However, if you want the bigger models after this has been done, drop me a PM and I'll see what I can do for you.

Wild West Ploppable Houses Vol 1

Each of the houses in this pack has been released on the STEX in growable versions. However, for those of you who do not want to trust to luck and let these houses grow, I have put them all on individual Landmark Lots so that you can build your Wild West town just the way you want it. You can find this pack on the STEX ... here.

The four house types in the pack are:

Wild West House Type 1 - a middle of the income range home for the slightly more affluent Cow Sims

Wild West Shingle Clad House - a low to middle income range home

Wild West Shotgun House - a low income house that is typical of the type of home that still exists in the soutgern states. There are six variants of this house included.

Wild West Cabin - the most humble of all homes.

    day.jpgnight.jpg

Each of the houses has the same stats as shown below:

    Plop Cost: 100

    Budget Cost: 10

    Bulldoze Cost: 10

    Landmark Effect: 0,0

    Mayor Rating Effect: 0,0

Pollution: 1,1,2,0 (air, water, garbage, radiation)

    Pollution radii: 1,2,0,0

    Power consumed: 2

    Water consumed: 2

    Wealth: None

    Dependencies: none

And that's me finished with all the updating, rescaling, etc ... time for some new models.

    Wild West House Type 2

Continuing the Wild West series we have this generic house that could equally well double up on the main street as any type of store imagineable. Based on a surviving building that is used as part of a film set, this house comes as a 1x1 Landmark Lot, 1x1 CS$4 growable, 1x1 R$2 growable, and a prop to be used on your own lots. If you use the prop in any lots you release, please do not include the prop with your release but instead point your dependency to the file on the STEX. Thank you.

    Wild West Cattleman's Association

As the town grew the ranchers grew in wealth and influence and so they formed the Cattleman's Association where they could meet, swap stories and carry out their business in peace and comfort. This model is representative of a surviving building in Texas that was built about 1870. It is presented as a 2x1 Landmark Lot, a 2x1 CO$$3 growable and a prop for you to use this building on your own lots.

You can find the Cattleman's Association ... here.

On a personal note, I'm not going to be around for a little while as I have to go into hospital for a short stay tomorrow. However, I will be taking my laptop with me and will continue to model (when they let me). I will pass any finished files to my son to upload. Hopefully I should be back in about a week or so.

Wild West Boot Repair, Drugstore and Laundry

A group of three small stores around a small courtyard where you will find the local Drugstore, Boot Repair shop and the Laundry. This grouping, the buildings of which are based on a generic style, is presented here as a 2x2 Landmark Lot, a 2x2 CS$2 growable Lot, and a prop of the group. Whilst I am in hospital I am going to be working on a few more small buildings (I might even get one finished tonight before I have to go). I am also going to be working on a mission which will be based on the Rancho de Taos Mission as shown below:

    RANCHO-DE-TAOS-62.JPG

No promises about how long this will take as whilst I am 'resting' (yeah right, like that's going to happen) I will also be working on the motel I promies pat for his Miranda Cross Files CJ.

Hope to see you all real soon.

    Mike

As a parting gift before I go into hospital in a few hours time heres a little something I knocked up for you 2.gif

    Space Invader Amusement Arcade

Young Sims have always had a hankering for playing video games, so games entrepreneur Gill Bates decided to open the very first amusement arcade downtown, a place where all the young Sims could hang out and play Death Squad 3 (one of Gill Bates' games), and Hyper Mega Ninja Fighter 4 (also a Gill Bates production).

This BAT is presented as a 2x3 Landmark Lot and a 2x3 CS$$5 growable, and can be found ... here.

Thank you for you kind thoughts frndofyaweh and Kwakelaar. As you can probably tell .. I'm back!! lol  Still have to rest though, but I find BATting very relaxing, so expet a good few BATs from me over the next few days/weeks/months/years 9.gif

I haven't had time to make a start on the mission yet. but as you have seen from the STEX, I did get around to completing 3 BATs whilst I was away, which are:

    Wild West Gunsmith and Lawyer

You can't have a Wild West town without somewhere to buy your trusty Colt 45 or have your Winchester rifle repaired. And of course, when you've bought your gun, and then been involved in a gunfight outside Jakes Saloon you are going to need the services of the lawyer who set up shop right next door to the gun shop! Now that's almost as bad as ambulance chasing!! This building is presented here as a 2x1 Landmark Lot and a 2x1 C$$3 growable lot. You can find this on the STEX here.

    day.jpgnight.jpg

    Small Town Motel

Representative of a small roadside motel, this building is presented as a 5x2 Landmark Lot and a 5x2 C$$4 growable. This building was specifically created at the request of patfirefghtr for use in his CJ - The Meranda Cross Files: A Northwoods Tragedy. You can find this on the STEX here.

    day.jpgnight.jpg

    Wild West Vertical Mine

Sims in the Wild West certanly caught gold fever when one of them found a nugget of Iron Pyrites, ran into town, shouted gold, then headed for Jakes slaoon and laughed himself silly over two fingers of Red Eye.

This typical vertical mine is presented as a 2x3 Landmark Lot and a 3x2 Dirty Industrial Stage 2 Lot. You can find this on the STEX here.

Wow man you're too fast! And you find batting relaxing? I always get frustrated when I try batting lol.

However that vertical mine looks awesome. great for a rural setting. And speaking of that, would you consider making some farms in wild west ranch style? Or have you done something like that already? Sorry but you just make too many uploads for me to remember them all. 14.gif 18.gif

    Great work!

Thanks for the comments Bongoswimp. Not made any plans for a ranch yet, but it is on my 'to do' list, so I will deifinitely be gettng around to it in the course of time. I just tend to model what my mood determines. I guess my relaxation comes from the fact that BATting employs my mind which is always active, never resting! As to being fast ... I have been around 3D modelling for about 5 years now (my eldest son is a 3D artist and animator), and I know 3DS Max inside out. I'm not perfect, a long way from it in fact, but I know what the tools do, and how to use them. And I always apply the simply rule ... K.I.S.S ... Keep It Simple Stupid ... each and every building can be broken down into a number of key elements, so work on each in turn. Unusually, I tend to place doors and windows first, then form my walls from splines around them, then the roof, then the details, and last the lighting.

    So here's todays offering:

    Wild West School House

A typical frontier town single rom school house where young CowSims go to learn the three Rs ... reading, riting and rithmetic! And they say we are the uneducated ones 3.gif This BAT is presented as a 1x2 Landmark Lot and a 1x2 Elementary School which you will find, not surprisingly, in your Civic > Education menu. You can find this on the STEX here.

    day.jpgnight.jpg

A prop of the BAT is also included for you to use in your own lots. If you release any lots using this building please do not include the prop with your release, but rather point your dependency to the file on the STEX. Thank you.

    Hi !

Absoulutly awesome work. All the wild west buildings are so cute. 35.gif

I am have a special area in each of my cities in my curren region with some special buildings in it. One of them i am busy right now to get all the gascooker brown brick buildinds in. And next for sure will be city with an old western center in the middle. 29.gif

Cant wait to download all your buildings.

Others are cool. Especially the space invaders 9.gif .

Question : Did anyone build a city (or like i want to do a part of the city) with your wild west bats ? I would love to see that.

    So far so good.

    Keep up the good work44.gif

Ah, yes, the city walls.  Below is an attempt I made at using them.  I like them a lot, but it's hard to find stuff they match up with.  As they are like one of my early girlfriends (simple, short, and square), I thought they had something of a pre-medieval look.

See what you think (one thing I would change in the future is the observation towers.  They seem rather out of place on these turrets).

Good you are getting and feeling better.

KISS is an excellent method for almost anything and something I try to keep in mind when using gmax aswell.

Must say I very much liked your new motel and the mine.

Again my attention is drawn to your roofs which IMO are still sometimes showing signs of tiling. The last BAT Wild West School House I can count that you have tiled your texture 4 times in the length of the roof. You might consider making one big texture for each roof that you are making.
