Elevated Highway/Road/Rail underpasses

Building off of what was started by buddybud in his Under Bridge Scenery thread; I've made some progress with my own rendetion of elevated transit underbellies. They're not pretty, they are meant to be a bit dingy; kindof a place you wouldn't want your kids to hang out.

The basic gist is this: these are overhanging props -- a 1x1 piece of littered cement, a 1x2 piece of littered cement and 2 versions of a chain link fence -- one offset by 1grid, the other by 2 grids. They are used in formations to give me multiple depth pieces that when placed along side elevated rail, highway, road, et al it would show the props underneath the elevated transit like such:

Currently, I only have 5 lots created. I still need to work on some transition pieces which would help build these pieces around curved segments of elevated transit as well as on-ramps and off-ramps. I also intend on making a set without the alley-way but instead transparent woods a la Pegasus' transparent woods pieces currently (kindof) on the STEX.

There are also some minor bugs I may need to work out as well. It seems with the elevated road-way pieces from the NAM my pieces cause some distortion due to the overlapping of the props as seen circled in red in the picture below:

Some minor tweaks to the fence are needed to in order to alleviate the overlapping of posts.

This is my very first attempt at a BAT so any opinions good are bad are appreciated. Please share with me any of your ideas, hopes, dreams, aspirations ...

Bear in mind, I don't have an amazing amount of time to set aside for this project but I'm currently feeling pretty good about getting this done in the near future. Once all is set I'd be looking for a few brave hens & chicks to test these out. So if your not of the squeamish sort let me know and i'll be glad to add you to the list for a beta test.

Looking good, i like the concept. You mention being able to put props under there, we ll how about cars, so it looks like you have parking under you motorway (sorry freeway!) like the do in some American cities and in teh uk as well, also parks for kids (in my city there i a park under the dual carridgeway Pelham bridge, though i wouldn't send any kids there!) , rubish bins (garbage) etc would realy make for some interesting "real world" eye candy.

thanks for all your kind thoughts! 43.gif

organicsabre: it'd be hard to put actual props under the bridges/overpasses. you'd have to have access to the original gmax file or already have an offset prop. from there you'd be dealing with overlapping the supports which seem to be spaced out differently depending on which type of transit.

what do you all think of the parking/alleyway idea. should that be kept or should i try it with unmarked pavement?!? i've been contemplating spicing it up with more props / variety of items to break the monotony. i haven't found any random garbage prop families yet - that i think would make the lot really sweet!
