This is the galaxy where this board war will be located; it is a spiral galaxy with two arms, as you can cleary notice on the picture. The Shakti is the name that the natives gave to the core, which is loaded with bigger stars and blackholes, making it an unnavigable area to faster-than-light travel due to the subspace interference.

The areas showed in red with green outlines are unavigable areas to the hyperspace*

systems, thus they are unreachable. The core is due to the blackholes and stars.

The other blotches are ship graveyards, random anomalies, nebulae and etc.

*See hyperspace

The blue area is the ship graveyard.

The stars mark the Capital Worlds; the Rings are the Hypergates (see hyperspace)

This map shows the current subdivisions on the galaxy, there are 3 major empires which formed trough the eras, here is a brief description of each one:

The Ilra Republic: The Ilra Republic is a mildly imperialistic empire, while under the Republic system, most atrocities made by the government have serious repercussions on the media and people, thus the empire

Yay for descriptions. J_O_ told me to change my original stat-based (As other boardwars are) description into this, a little intelligence report. Basically, try to follow the same structure (Useless your character isn't known by any agency! Then go nuts with another format) and don't make your character too powerful-famous. Ok? Ok! Here's my description and introduction.

Note: Not sure if J_O_ mentioned this...but keep Roleplaying in italics, ok?

Tamashii waited for the Micro-Freighter to come closer, it was moving far too hesitantly for his liking.

    CONTEXT INFORMATION

There are NO shields on this galaxy, all your ships have is their reliable hulls. On my ship's case, the gravition field around the core just compensates for having such an important component unarmoured.

At Mighty Tim: You gotta fill a profile information like this to join.

NOTE: You don't necessarially need to post a list of pros and cons as carpman did, but keep the structure. Just do it in that way, a small introduction, profile data and etc. You also don't necessarially need to do an intelligence report. Depending on your charachter, if he/she is more civilian, you can post a curriculum vitae-like thing. Here's my profile. Carpman's was approved by me, and mine was approved by him.

A tall, hooded person stayed on the bookstore shop of Freespace 5-1AR, waiting to be attended. When the Clerk asked what he wanted, a deep booming voice on his head named a couple of terran books, such as philosophy classics as Kafka and child tales as Christmas night.

The total was of around 20 books, after paying the dealer with some valuevable crystals, the hooded person walked out of the shop. Before the Clerk could call him because he forgot the books, the pile came out of the store flying, almost hitting head of the now-confused clerk.

A couple of minutes later, the being entered his ship, the loading process of around 50 tons of boron was complete. The creature walked into the ship.

A tall and thin alien walked trough a long and empty room full of lights and well illuminated. It moved towards a screen with a large command interface and a strange vat full of a green fluid. The books still were following it.

After sitting down in the chair and placing the books on a shelf nearby, the being placed one of his hands attached to the back on the green vat. The flesh softly dissolved until the frail bones, the blood vessels and nerves were exposed, some robotic tendrils attached themselves to the blood vessels and to the nerves. Although the process seemed to be painful, the creature seemed to be relieved when the bio-interface was connected. A couple of minutes later the ship entered hyperspace

A confrontation between psychic merchant and pirate. 10.gif
This is how battles should be set out...this was done in MSN.

    [The Inner Rim]
Tamashii had almost finished his most recent run on the rim...nothing much had come up, but he had a hold half-full of power converters. He sighed and starter to power up the ship, it was a day wasted again.

JO was busy reading one of the books he bought. It was a general relativity book from earth, although that knowledge was far behind the present, he liked to learn about different cultures

The ship dropped out of hyperspace, JO didn't even distract from the reading, and using another hand he pressed a couple of buttons to set his ship's route out of the gravity well of the red giant.

Tam saw something on sensors...the mother load! A capital ship...it would be a tricky one. He tried his usual tactics, Frigate to capital ship...frigate to capital ship

The Dreamsower's computer warned JO that he was being hailed. Entertained by the reading, and too arrogant to respond, he continued to calmly read his book

Tamashii began to get irritated, Frigate to capital ship! Damn! He pondered...the ship seemed to be lightly armed. And probably was full of cargo. He shrugged, and began to power weapons. He was in no rush, hopefully the pilot would not detect him.

The dreamsower's inertialess drives finally charged up, and the ship started to move very quickly outwards the gravity well

Too slow! Tam cackled, and opened fire with the missile launcher, hopefully opening a hole in the armour. He wanted to catch it by surprise.

Inside the Dreamsower's bridge, the computer warned JO that the ship was being attacked. JO quickly threw the book to the left and pressed some buttons. The ship's engines slowed down, but the point defence ion bursts charged up, and with a perfect aiming it hit the missle

JO activated the voice modulation and hailed the frigate Cease your attack to the self unless your puny parts intend to be damaged signficativelly

Tamashii muttered something, not in the hailing frequency, The self? Great...he's trying to be poetic in defeat. He opened the frequency again, My parts are fine as they are, weirdo!  He moved the Silver Shadow into a Beta 5 formation, fast but effective, and opened fire with the rail guns.

Seeing that hailing wouldn't help, JO launched the two pyramid-drones and started to turn his ship to face towards the hostile, yet, he also started to broadcast a powerful PSI brust trough the hail channels

Tam collapsed on the cockpit floor as the PSI burst came through, The hell?? The ship continues in the formation, however, as it is automatic. The side is hit by one of the drones, alarms blare. Heh...it'll take more than that to fall the shadow. Tam's fingers danced on the console. The rail guns aimed at the drones now, but the kinetic cannons fired all they had at the main ship.

JO placed one of his hands on the helm control and passed the command of the behemoth ship to his hands. He started to turn the ship so it would be facing Tamashii's frigate, it wouldn't take too long. Armour reports showed that most of the kinetic fire was hitting the gravition field around the core, thus he had to rotate the ship before the power systems were damaged.

Tamashii had scanned the ship, and grinned. His ship was already moving to stay focused on the core...but the cannons had to recharge, sooner or later. He only hoped the ship had no major firepower.

Predicting that the enemy ship would of course target the core, JO made a small adjustment. The core would be on tamashii's range, but the phased cannon would be aiming to him

Tamashii began to fire; not noticing the new aiming cannon...if he could just cause enough damage for an explosion...his cannons MUST be doing some serious damage by now!

JO pressed a button which seemed to be slightly detached from the rest of the command board. When he pressed, the image on the main screen changed to the top phased cannon hard point. He placed the crosshair on tamashii's ship, adjusted some values and started to charge the cannon up. All the systems turned off. Engines, general shielding, just the gravitation sheath.

A beeping informed Tam a heavy weapon was charging, Hellfire! The codeword escaped his lips. Half of his cargo, power converters, highly explosive, jettisoned into the core of the enemy ship. It wouldn't destroy it, just give Tam time to get away...he began to power up, the power converters heading for the core.

JO sent the two pyramids to intercept some of the converters, yet some would hit the core. Just when he issued the orders to the pyramids the beam was charged. He pressed a button and seams trough all the outer armour started to glow in a yellow and orange mix. The hardpoint beam started to get illuminated. A few seconds later a yellow/orange ion beam fired off the top hardpoint.

Tamashii quickly dodged the clumsy ion beam, glad for his fast ship for once. He just had to leave the gravity pull...he was almost out
He muttered to himself, Ok, you've won! Let it go!
A portion of the beam hits the hold...and rips out the exterior airlock. Tamashii watched, aghast, as the remaining cargo dropped into the void of space.

JO laughed to himself as the ship disengaged. He aftermath hailed the ship saying Parts were warned by the self, now suffer! Yet he had taken some damage, and his boron shipment would be late around 10 hours.

    Name: Lauren, last name unknown
    Sex: Female
    Blood Type: Alien
    Height: 2.7 M
    Weight: 2300 Kg
    Tail length: 3 M
    Eye Color: Red
    Hair Color: Brown
Notable features: Big and green with a 10 cm scar on her right arm, but usually wears full body armor so only her head is visible. Like all Muphridians, she can survive without air for up to 1 and a half days.
    Education level: Very high (190)
    Species: Muphridian

Lauren was born and raised on the planet Karem, a small and peaceful planet in the Free Worlds Confederation. While she grew up like any other Muphridian child, at age 17 when she was going on a field trip to Karem's moon Odion, a pirate ship attacked the school ship and almost ripped it in to 2 pieces. The pirates tried to take everyone's money, but when they got to Lauren, she attacked and damaged one of the pirate's space suits. The pirates then attacked her, and managed to hit her arm, leaving a 10 cm scar that has lasted to this day. When the other Muphridians stated to look as they would attack also, retreated back to their ship knowing they would be defeated if they did attack. When the school ship was towed back to Karem, the other students told their teachers what Lauren had done, and she was an instant hero to the local population. As she grew up she began showing relatively powerful psychic abilities, as well as telekinetic skills. She used these skills to build her own spaceship and weapons, and soon began roaming the galaxy, searching for the base of the pirates that attacked her some 20 years ago looking for revenge.

The purple dot is the location of the planet Karem.

    Ship report:
    Name: The Pirate Hunter
    Class: Capital
    Mass: 1200 tons
    Crew: 80

    Information:

Lauren's ship is shaped like a catamaran, with 2 long engine drives with a flat main body above that connecting the 2 engine pods. It can hold nearly 100 tons of cargo, which is stored throughout the ship. There seems to be some sort of energy field around the ship, which is only detectable at close range, and there is no idea what it is for. The ship is able to turn almost effortlessly, but only when it is moving slowly. All along the engine pods are many small circles that light up when either it is getting ready to jump into hyperspace, or when it is getting ready to activate the cloaking system that renders allows light to go right though the ship like it wasn't even there. While it has many advanced features, like a higher power hyperdrive that allows it to go 550 ly instead of only 500 ly and with a recharge of 20 hours, it is easily detected with a plasma scanner as long as the ship has been moving within the last day or 2. After that period, it is basically invisible until you get close enough to see it on radar.

    Weapons:
There are at least 6 laser platforms, 1 on each side of the ship (top, bottom, left, right, front, and back) and a missile launcher in the front of each engine pod. There is also several large mass drivers and numerous small mass drivers found all over the ship. On the bottom of the ship, there are 3 pods, 2 of them holding a fighter-class ship, and the 3rd holding a corvette-class ship. Nothing is known about these ship's weapon systems, but they are believed to be similar to the weapons on the mains ship, only less powerful. There are some people who believe that there are other weapons on The Pirate Hunter that are hidden, and that the only person who knows about them or how to operated them is Lauren herself.

They called it Rateger, unofficially. On galatic records, it still held the name that the original settlers had given it. But that name had been forgotten many years ago.

In a way, even Tamashii found it tragic. A group of settlers from the Djanza star empire had become outlaws, and were cast into the Beta uncharted region. Everybody expected them to die. But, stunning the forces that had cast them out, they had survived, landing on a small asteroid, stopping its motion through space, terraforming, and establishing an artificial heat and energy source.

Then the Midnight Shadow arrived. A temporary pact between a large group of pirates, looking for a place to sell their stolen goods. The asteroid was perfect...nobody but the highest echleons of the Star Empire intelligence agency had any idea it existed. It was virtually undetectable, being positioned inside a nebula. And it was already settled on...

Tamashii could still remember the day...he was in Strike Force 7. Objective: Seize life support systems for sectors 4 through 9. The attack was already underway by the time they arrived, residential blocks were burning, people were fleeing to their ships...and being shot out of the sky before they could power engines.

The life support systems were being guarded fiercely, with non-laser weapons. Ten men were cut down like dolls. One by one, every settler fell. In the control room...yes, there was the order. The squad leader, a rough man in his 40s, was given the order to shut off life support to Sector 8. No pirates had arrived there yet, and it was full of resistance.

The squad leader performed the order without a second thought. The sector was decompressed, and hundreds of settlers died without a whisper, at the hands of the Midnight Shadow.

It is on this planet Tamashii has landed. A shadow of its former beauty, one cannot move without being reminded of who runs the settlement. Repairing his hull would cost him...but he still had some stock left from his last job, which he could sell. That would cover new ammunition, and repairs.

Hey, Otomo! He flinched. It was a large man, from the planet Yerrack...not one of the original Midnight Shadows, but he had quickly risen to great status on Rateger.

Barton...to what do I owe the pleasure?

The man raised an eyebrow, I need to speak to you...you're getting unwanted attention. The guys up top are getting worried...just last week we had a police crusier from the FWF come here to take a look.

The raise their pay, they'll soon stop looking Tamashii started moving again, he didn't have time for this. He had never had much of a status on Rateger and never intended to.

Barton grabbed his arm, Listen to me...either start paying your debts quicker or start to disappear. For you, any attention is bad attention. Goodbye Otomo.

The man slapped him heartily on the back and left the dock. Tamashii was left to stand with his ship, as the automated repair technician began to work.

Leech10: It is ok, but reduce the hyperdrive bonus to just 550 extra light years with a charge rate of 20 hours. The data I posted above is absolute and I'm willing to do just minor concessions.
And wow, I didn't expect this thing to take off so quickly, but people, avoid overspamming since we don't want any admin pulling the plug18.gif
Also, isn't lauren a bit too heavy? 2300 KGs is a big thing, didn't you intend to make her weight 230kg?

It was an odd place for JO to be. Although he is a trader, his ship is well armed, and he could risk selling his goods to pirate stations, where many commodities such as food have a high value. He was on a weird place indeed. That meteor station didn

As Lauren started to leave the planet Karem, she decided to go to Odion, because she never had gone there because of the pirate attack. when she got there, she could easily tell why they had tried to go there, and that was because of the massive Svenson Canyon. While she had read about it and seen it though a telescope, it was so much better to see it in person.

Lauren put The Pirate Hunter into an orbit around Odion, and got in one of the fighters, the Karem 1. She descended down into the canyon, and started to explore the bottom of it, seeing what was to be found there. After nearly an hour, just she began to think that it was just a normal canyon, something got her attention.

There was an area where all the rocks were all cracked apart just a little farther down the canyon. As she approached it, she tried to break it apart using her telekinetic blast, but the rock wouldn't move. She then moved the Karem 1 into position and hit it with several shots from the front mounted small mass driver, and it began to crack apart. She finished it off with another telekinetic blast, and the rocks broke apart, making a hole just large enough for the Karem 1 to go though.

Lauren slipped the Karem 1 though the hole, and turned on the lights. Inside was a large supply of sorts of rocks, and some of them appeared to be valuable.

Lauren radioed back to The Pirate Hunter and told them to send down the other 2 ships, the Karem 2 and the Karem 3. The Karem 1 and 2 would collect rocks and bring them to the Karem 3, which would bring them back to The Pirate Hunter.

This continued for about 3 more hours, when most of the rocks were either collected, or were known to be worthless, and tossed out into the bottom of the canyon.

When all 3 ships were attached to The Pirate Hunter again, the rocks that were collected were scanned to see if they were of any use to them. While 80% of the rocks turned out to be just rocks, out of the remaining 20%, half were discovered to contain lots of iron ore, some were discovered to contain aluminum, and the rest seemed to be just regular rocks, only they were very dense.

The rocks that were useless were dropped into a crater, and the dense ones where put into one of the ammo storages, to be used later as bullets for the large mass drivers.

The ore rocks were put into the on-board smelter and they began to make steal beams and plates, as well as aluminum sheets for repairs or building projects.

Lauren believed that since ore rocks were found, there might be larger supply underneath the moon nearby. One of the mining probes was launched, and when it began to dig, some more ore was found.

A small mine was then set up using some of the new stuff they had made, as well as the materials that Lauren had brought with her. The mine couldn't get much stuff at a time, and Lauren decided to also build an underground storage area to store the ore that was mined so she could search the nearby area for clues on where those pirates had come from 20 years ago.

     ==================================================

Greetings citizens of the free worlds, the Star Empire, the Republic, and the uncharted territories. It is my pleasure to announce this, the first intergalatic issue of the Free World Tribune. For months we have attempted to boost our transmitter to include every last territory reachable. One day, we may even be able to transmit into black holes and into other universes!

Today this galaxy truly enters a new age. The age of Centro-Log. Centro-Log enables any citizen of the galaxy to log their exploits right here. There lives, loves, hardships, and successes. So that in the future, we may see these lives and smile upon them.

The Centro-Log system has been criticized for its complete confidentiality. That is, even a criminal can log about their activities and no law enforcement officer can look into it.

Being one of the people responsible for setting up the Centro-Log system, we are encouraged to contact me or the second editor or information on how to Log Good.

    May the stars guide us,
    Raphael Carpa

The Ilra Republic government has declared it Will continue its Djanza blockade for as long as the unfair invasion of the Fist continues. This annoucement comes after months of accusations that the Republic is developing a large military force for invasion of the Star Empire. The Star Empire in turn responded with the standard claim that they were simply securing colonies in the Fist, but the lack of resources from trade with the Republic is causing there to be ever-large convoys coming from the FWF. These large convoys are travelling at great cost and risk to great empires, and are under heavy security.

The Games of Shakti corperation has been fined ~30M for failing to add sufficient safety precautions on their new range of recreational projectiles. The Vector-Based corperation reported gross profits of ~36B last year, and its share price has been steadying rising since that profit report. This fine has caused a ripple in stock market activity, but the corperation assures its shareholders this will not last.

A large-scale pirate raid at Adagio was thwarted recently, ending with the capture of several pirates and the deaths of many others. Authorities reported that a recently docking ship helped to apprehend the pirates, but would prefer is citizens did not take such vigilante tactics in future.

Police have been informed that an illegal mining operation is underway on Odion. Police say for citizens to be on their guard, as the people responsible may be armed and dangerous. An investigation will continue shortly.

As Lauren started to fly away form Odion and off in the direction of the planet Myon (A large planet covered in junk and wrecked spaceships from the battle of Karem in the Great Ilra War around 500 years ago), she activated the Odion mine's defensive systems, which caused the mine to lower into the ground so it looks just like the surrounding area, and also activated 4 pulse beam cannons, and a missile launcher to be used only if the mine is discovered.

As she flew near Myon, a ship was located that appeared to be of frigate class was seen, and it seemed to be in relatively good condition. Lauren hit the ship with a tractor beam and pulled it up close to the Pirate Hunter.

Lauren went outside with some high strength chain that was found in one of the cargo compartments, and tied the ship on top of the Pirate Hunter so it would stay in place until she was able to find a place to work on it at.

She began to wonder what area would be good for checking out the ship she found, and soon she had a perfect idea. She would go into the Uncharted Alpha region and look for a suitable place there.

As the hyperdrive powered up, she noticed several ships on radar around 4 AU out, going in the direction of Karem and Odion. She got out her telescope and pointed it at the ships.

When she got a better look at them, they appeared to be police ships. While she wondered why they were going there, she didn't stay long to find out, as a light had lit up one the control console telling Lauren that the hyperdive was ready to go. Hoping the mine's defense system wouldn't activate and attack the police on accident, she pulled the handle activating the hyperdrive.

It was like looking though a kaleidoscope with all of the lights and shapes zooming by outside the ship. As the ship began slowing down, she pulled another handle to drop the ship back out of hyperspace.

When she looked at the Galactic map, it told her that she was now around 480 LY away from her home solar system, and she was definitely inside the Uncharted Alpha region. Looking outside, she saw that she had stopped near a star, but there seemed to be nothing around.

Suddenly, the ship's alarm went off, and the intercom shouted Incoming Asteroid over and over again. Lauren turned the ship and turned the engines on full blast to get out of the way.

Just when she thought they were out of the asteroid's path, there was a loud cluck, followed by a grinding noise that shook the ship. A look at the control console told her that engine number 1 had been heavily damaged, and wouldn't last much longer before dieing completely.

When she looked back out the window, she saw a planet right in front of the ship. She decided to go land there, and when she got closer to the planet, she could tell that it seemed to be some sort of interstellar rest stop.

She landed the ship at a large SpaceZone, and upon entering the store, found that there was stuff there to fix almost anything. She bought the parts needed to fix the Pirate Hunter's engine, and also bought some stuff that she thought would come in handy when repairing the newly found frigate.

She moved the ship to an open area, and started to fix the engine. When she looked inside it, she saw that the asteroid had only crumpled the wall in, which had blocked an exhaust port and made it seem like there was a lot more damage than there actually was.

Soon, the ship was fixed, and Lauren and the 2 other members of the crew that were helping her, Michael and Logan, went inside and washed off all the oil from the engine. They decided to go and sleep at the local Alien Hotel instead of in the Pirate Hunter, and when they got to the front desk at the Alien Hotel, they were thrilled because Lauren and her crew booked 40 rooms, and they were usually lucky to have around 35 rooms total booked for a night.

Until someone else posts here, all updates will go here.

As Lauren went to sleep, she thought she heard fighting outside, but quickly forgot about it as a fighter squadron passed overhead. The next day, she went down to get some breakfast, and from the conversations others were having, she learned that the planet she was on was named Norio.

Once everyone was ready, they got back on the Pirate Hunter and started to take off. Suddenly, a small missile hit the ship, but while it didn't cause any damage to the hull, it did get her attention. Turning the ship in the direction the missile came from, she saw a massive riot heading in their direction.

She quickly got her ship out of the way, and then got into the Karem 1 to see what was going on. The riot was attacking the local police force, which wasn't doing very well, and seemed like they would soon be defeated. As the police were about ready to give up, Lauren flew the Karem 1 directly over the rioting crowd, distracting them enough to let the police capture some of them. She did this several times until the rioters were so distracted and confused that they were easily captured.

As she flew back to the Pirate Hunter, the police followed her to her ship to give her a reward of $1000 for helping them stop the riot. Lauren didn't need the money, but she still took it, and split it up and gave it as a bonus to the crew of the Pirate Hunter.

Lauren took the Pirate Hunter out of Norio's atmosphere, and began looking for a place to look at the frigate in peace. After searching the Norio system for such a place but not finding any, she activated the hyperdrive again, and took off farther into the uncharted alpha region.

The Leesti Space Station high-security prison looked like the backdrop of a low-budget sci-fi movie and the inmates behaved like cliches come alive. The guy with the crowbar obviously wanted to play the role of the bad-ass sadistic psychopath.

And he played his role pretty good.

Jameson would have agreed to this, but he was too busy spitting blood and teeth on the concrete floor of his prison cell. The next blow hit him on the chest and suddenly breathing became impossible.

I never accept a 'no' for an answer, get it?, the psychopath yelled.

Jameson barely noticed the next blow, the world was already fading away and pain seemed to be the only thing left.

As a small voice in his mind whispered to him: I love you, daddy. Memory flashes of better days. His wife, his daughter. And suddenly even hell wasn

Please post updates of your people, this is the first really good game and I don't want it to die out.

When the Pirate Hunter came out of hyperspace, a look at the map told Lauren that she had actually left the main part of the galaxy, and wasn't in any known region of it at all. As Lauren looks out the window, she sees a planet in the distance.

She gets into the Karem 1 and starts to fly down to the surface, not knowing what is down there. She starts searching around, and after finding nothing but rocks, she decides to go back up to land the Pirate Hunter to work on the frigate. However, just as she starts to leave a big green monster jumps out of a hole in the side of the cliff.

Lauren gets the Karem 1 up to a higher speed and begins to lift up high into the air, when she sees that thing is still following her, and it is flying at nearly the speed of sound. As she the Karem 1 goes up to about 10 KM into the air, the thing is stiff following her, and seems to be getting closer.

Lauren radios ahead to the Pirate Hunter to get the lasers ready, and she starts weaving back and forth to try to get that thing confused, but all that thing does is attempt to claw a hole in the ship.

Soon, Lauren is about ready to get to the Pirate Hunter, and she goes off to the side, allowing the lasers to attack the monster. While the lasers seem to cause no damage, the thing decides that Lauren isn't worth dealing with the Pirate Hunter and flies back to the planet.

As soon as Lauren was back on the Pirate Hunter, she flies the ship off to a nearby planet well away from the planet of the monsters and then waits for the hyperdrive to recharge.

While she won't be here long, she uses some of the time to take a look at the frigate that she had found. While the outside of it look somewhat ok, the inside was a mess. There was wires everywhere, missing wall panels, and several holes in the crew compartment.

Lauren gets some of the crew to help and goes into the frigate again, this time fixing the hull of the ship so it can be at least be pressurized and heated, making future work easier. Soon, the ship was once again sealed, and some of the wires were pushed back into the wall to get them out of the way. While they were there, the outside of the ship was also fixed to make it appear like it was good as new.

After the crew had gotten some well needed rest, Lauren warmed up the hyperdrive, activated it, and soon they had zoomed back into the main part of the galaxy.  When Lauren looked outside, there was nothing at all to see except the distant stars. A look at the scanners told her that they were in the middle of nowhere. Thinking that nothing would happen outside, Lauren put the ship on autopilot and went back with the rest of the crew to play some games.

Admiral, here is the data you requested on Lawrence Hall.  There are several items not mentioned in his public record that must be brought to your attention if you are considering him as Captain of the Constant.  His civilian life still seems to affect him, especially the murder of his brother in the insurgent blowup four years ago.  Take caution with him.  He is a formidable opponent in battle, but he still has a blood lust for his brother's murders.  On his last voyage on the Merriweather Lewis, he nearly attempted to inspire a mutiny for blind revenge.  He was not court-martialed due to his heroism latter in the flight.

On the other hand, he is incredibly brave.  This may prove to be his downfall if the insurgents rise up again.  Keep a tight leash on him to prevent any insubordination.

Aside from these attitudes, he is possibly your best candidate for the
Constant.  His bridge crew is exceptional, and they respect him greatly.  He has a talent for leadership, and ONI supports your decsion to the end.

After playing several games of poker, Lauren and her crew got ready to go to bed. At around 3:00 AM, the Pirate Hunter suddenly shook, and the ship's alarm system went off again. Lauren almost fell out of bead wondering what was happening, and as she made her way to the control room, everything seemed to be okay. However, when she look at the ship sensors, it told her that a small piece of space junk had crashed into the side of the ship, triggering the alarm. As there was no damage, Lauren turned the alarm off, and started to go back to her room.

Just when she got to the door to her room, the alarm went off again, this time announcing enemy ship approaching. Lauren ran back to the control room, called the crew to their weapon stations, and got ready to fight. The enemy ship seemed to be shaped like a hamburger, with 2 big guns on the top and bottom and many more around the sides.

The burger-ship attacked first, firing several of its large mass drivers, 2 of which hit the Pirate Hunter causing the ship to shudder violently. The Pirate Hunter soon returned fire with 2 laser shots, causing 2 explosions on the burger-ship. However, the burger-ship seemed unaffected by the explosions, and began to turn so 1 of the big guns began to turn towards the Pirate Hunter. Lauren quickly activated the cloaking system, but it wasn't enough to stop the attack.

The burger-ship estimated the position of the Pirate Hunter and fired its main gun, a powerful ion beam that at first seemed to miss, but suddenly hit the ship, damaging the control system of the right side engine (#2), depressurizing cargo holds R1, R2, R3, and heavily damaging the wall of cargo hold R4. Lauren retuned fire with several missiles, and started to move the ship to try to keep the burger-ship from hitting the Pirate Hunter again. Most of the missiles were blasted by the burger ship before they hit it, but 1 managed to get though, hitting the burger-ship's main gun.

The burger-ship fired off several more pulse beams, missing this time, before flipping over, and using the second ion cannon. The blast went over the top of the ship, hitting the salvaged frigate before blasting out the right front staircase and hitting a power line. The lights on the ship suddenly went out and the ship de-cloaked, then came back on about 2 seconds later as the power was re-routed though the left side line, however, the ship failed to re-cloak. Lauren decided to test out the rocks that she had collected on Odion, and loaded some of the worthless dense ones into the large mass drivers, and flung it at the burger-ship as the burger-ship was powering its ion beam for another attack. The rocks hit the ion cannon, but seemed to cause no damage at all.

The ion beam started to fire, but suddenly, a large explosion took place on the burger-ship, totally destroying the middle so that it looked like a doughnut, and the burger ship somehow activated its hyperdive and flew off to an unknown area.

Lauren decided to look at the debris it left behind and found several containers full of high-strength steel, and what appeared to be a plate showing the ship's name and use. While the plate was warped and burnt from the explosion, Lauren could see that it had the name Big-Whop, and the ship seemed to be a pirate ship, but Lauren wasn't sure, because some of the letters on the plate were unreadable.

Lauren and her crew then went to work fixing the holes in the cargo storages, and replacing the dead wiring. At around 8:00 AM the ship was fully repaired, and the crew got some well needed rest.

Lauren got up at around 2:00 PM, got the hyperdrive ready, and set off farther into the galaxy. Upon exiting hyperspace, Lauren, saw another blue-green planet in the distance, but after the monster incident at the last planet, Lauren went to the planet, but landed on the far side of one of its moons in a large cave exposed by a crater.

While in the cave, Lauren and several crew members went back out to the frigate, fixed the hole from the ion beam, and began getting all the wiring and control systems online. Soon, the frigate is controllable and all the control and sensor systems are working, but until everything else is working and the engines are installed, it won't be able to fly.

After the work on the frigate was done, Lauren scanned the nearby planet, and the scan results were:

    Name: Magitario

    Inhabitants: Humanoids

    Disposition of inhabitants: peaceful, nice

    Average temperature: 24 degrees C.

    Average weather: Sunny

Lauren decided that it was safe to go to the planet, and after landing, she found a tourist guide building, and inside she found all sorts of stuff that she could do, so after parking the Pirate Hunter in a spaceship garage, she set out with her crew, looking around the city at which she had landed at. Around a hour later she found a hotel to spend the night at, and after renting 40 rooms, went off to bed. Just before she went to sleep, she thought about all the stuff that had happened that day, and hoped that she wouldn't have to do it again anytime soon.

Unidentified object approaching at 500mph and climbing!
As guinea Quickly jumped into his seat , half asleep he analysed the data of the alert , something large seemed to be heading his way , slowly , but surely ,
Unidentified object approaching from 0.11,0.56 degrees at a speed of 700Mph and rising !
It seemed to be getting faster , Guinea didn't like this , at this rate it would cause him a great deal of damage
Unidentified object approaching at a rising speed of 1100Mph!
Guinea acted quickly , despite being half asleep still , he quickly pushed the large leaver in front of him , a loud noise was heard as the Highwind launched to the side and soon after a shaking feeling as the object at a still faster speed shot past him
Pfew ..... that was close guinea mumbled to himself in a sleepy voice
It was still early but as this whole experience had woken him up guinea decided to set out towards the Quadritical fist market

As The Highwind pulled into the large docking bay , guinea saw that it was going to be a good day , the market seemed to be very busy
    Great he muttered to himself
This was indeed great , the items he had looted from the destroyed capital should sell well on a busy day like this ,
As he walked down the crowded hall towards an empty stall at the bottom he could hear a variety of different voices and languages
    nun..Gouk...nok..Bleug!
    Makacham, zog bleebel?
None of this he would understand , He approached the empty stall and watched as 2 of his crew members unloaded the goods and displayed them around in a orderly way
Guinea had not yet inspected one of the boxes, and watched it closely as the shorter fatter member of his crew unpacked it , the revealed a large , pristine object that looked to be a very compact yet distinguishable Hyperspace thruster , he could tell by the large pipes coming from a very compact internal combustion core ...This was incredible , this would have earn him millions , heck tens of millions of credits at a market like today

Lauren woke up the next day still somewhat tired from the early-morning fight the day before, but decided to go and get breakfast anyway. After she ate, she looked at the guides to the nearby area and found some interesting things to do for the day. After getting the rest of her crew, she rented a bus and set out to the local stadium to watch a game of what the locals called Quidditch. While she had never heard of it before, from what it said on the guide it sounded interesting.

After arriving at the stadium, her crew got seats near the middle of the field, and about halfway up. A look at the scoreboard told her that the 2 teams that would be playing were the Hermington Hunters and the Riverton Rammers. Since the town they were in was Riverton, that is who they would cheer for. After a half hour the match was about to begin, and the 14 players flew in riding broomsticks, much to the amazement to the tourists at the match, including Lauren. Then the referee walked out onto the field with a box in one hand and a broomstick in the other.

The referee set the box down and opened it up, reveling 4 balls, one of them a reddish color, 2 of them blackish-gray, and the last one was very small, and golden. The referee released the straps holding the 2 black balls in place, and they suddenly flew into the air, as did the golden one, before the referee took the red one, and tossed it up to the waiting players before hopping on his own broom.

The Rammers managed to get the ball first, and they flew down the field passing to each other, but just as they reached the goal hoops, one of the black balls collided with one of the Rammers, and the Hunters caught it. From the announcement the commentator made, Lauren learned that the 3 players passing the ball to each other were chasers, the red ball is called the quaffle, and the 2 black ones were called bludgers. As they made their way to the other side of the field, one of the Rammer's chasers managed to intercept the quaffle and take off to the other side of the field. This time, they managed to score, getting 10 points, causing the crowd to cheer loudly.

After a few minutes, the score was Rammers: 30, Hunters: 20. The bludgers were flying around the chasers as they went up and down the field, occasionally hit by 2 players on each team known as beaters. Just as the Rammers were about to score, the one of the Hunters came from around the goal hoop and caught the quaffle. This person was known as a keeper, and the Haunter's keeper then threw the quaffle to one of his teammates, who flew down to the Rammer's goal. Just as they were about to score, a large spaceship flew overhead, distracting everyone, so the Hunter's chaser dropped the quaffle.

Lauren didn't know that the spaceship that flew overhead was dangerous in any way, but unknown to everyone, it was carrying a feared pirate leader. After around another 20 minutes, the score was now Rammers: 70, Hunters: 90. Just as the Hunter's chaser was about to score again, the 2 remaining players that before Lauren had only see fly around basically doing nothing suddenly had dived towards the ground, chasing after something that looked very much like a gold blur, which Lauren recognized as the 4th ball. Lauren quickly found out that those 2 players were called seekers, and the gold ball was the snitch. They flew all around the field, and just as the Hunter's seeker was about to catch it, he was hit by a bludger, leaving the Rammer's seeker a clear shot at it. He stood up on his broom, and reaching out, he caught it as it tried to turn.

The crowd was screaming and cheering so loud, it seemed like it would be heard on any planet within several light years. The scoreboard was flashing: Rammers: 210, Hunters: 100, and the Rammer's were taking a victory lap around the field. As Lauren and the rest of her crew were leaving, they where talking about the saves that the Rammer's keeper had made, or how the Rammer's seeker had caught the snitch.

After getting back on their bus, they went to a nearby beach to relax and do some swimming. Around 6:00 PM, they had supper, and after that, Lauren and several of her crewmates went back to working on the frigate. The work seemed to go quicker because the were talking about the Quidditch match, and soon the frigate's engines were operational, and the smaller weapons systems were ready to go.

As Lauren went to her hotel room and got ready for bed, the pirate that had flown in earlier that day was causing all sorts of destruction in the industrial areas of Riverton. While the police had been called in to stop him, nothing seemed to work, as he just blew up their best cruisers with the lasers on his ship. Lauren went off to sleep not knowing of what was happening only 15 miles away.

silence .... Thats all guinea could hear as the silent highwind drifted through space , all the crew where sleeping in their qualters .
But guinea couldnt sleep , he had been having nightmares, not scary nightmares , just worrying ones .

They where of his homeworld , He had never seen it , and he knew nothing about it apart from that fact that it was lost  in the deepest regions of uncharted space , he imagined the homeworld as a peaceful place with fresh water and hot sunny days , Guinea didnt beleive this , the planet was probobly totaly different , but eveyone pictures something they dont know as something they want it to be , not what it actualy is .
the worrying part was what became of the homworld , first he would dream of the peaceful  planet , thriving with his kind .But then all would fall silent and a darkess would cover the land , out of the cloudy dark sky would come thousands up on thousands of battleships  all firing towards the ground, it was horrible , watching his dream world get torn apart . Ususaly at this point guinea woke up , even if he didnt want to

    He rubbed his forehead ,
uhh.. not another headache he said gruffly
Guinea un-steadily rolled out from his bed and staggerd towards the bathroom almost tripping over his feet numerous times , he took a small handfull of cheap paracetomal and washed it down with a mothful of water from the tap .  It was very early even though there was no day or night in space most people kept to a normal sleep pattern,

Slightly more woken up, guinea sipped at his hot cup of coffee , he was so tired he could actualy feel himslelf waking up as his drank, Biggs the lead crew member walked in , looking very tidy in a freshly ironed dark red shirt and black trousers
mornin cap'in he said in his usual cheery voice
Guinea grunted back , it was obvious he was in that early morning mood
whats planned for today then cap'in? biggs asked
gonna try and get that hyper drive installed guinea replyed
oh , more work then.. biggs semmed dissapointed , he had been hoping for a day off soom so he could spend some of the credits he had saved up over the last few months

The day went on and work started on the new thruster that had been looted the week before, it was quite suprising in how easy it was to fit , the highwind had to lose one small cargo hold to house it but it was well worth it most of the compnants where made and joined with some simple welding and moving around of the in-line thrust pipes , the job went by quite fast and easy despite the face that guinea almost lost a leg attempting to kick a high pressur pipe into place , the pipe ruptured and sent guinea flying a good 15 feet out the room and into the neighbouring hallway

Biggs aproched guinea in a cautious way , he knew this was a realy bad time to ask the captin for the remainder of the day off , but it was either now  or never,
    s..s...sir?
Guinea looked up from nursing the large cut on his shin and glared at Biggs
    What !? he growled
    u..umm . w...w..would it be ok if..Biggs hesitated
Guineas face was now relaxing and he was cooling off
if you want the day off , go ahead i know you have been wanting to ask for a while
Biggs's face lit up and he rushed off , forgeting to say his thanks , but he was too happy
heh..guinea laughed to himself , and he sank back into his large chair and returned to tending to his wounded leg.....

When Lauren woke up, it was almost 10:00AM, so she got ready and went to meet the rest of her crew. Today, they were going to drive around town looking for something interesting to do. They drove around downtown that morning, going to several museums and they then went to the Thor Tower. The Thor Tower was about 850 meters high, the tallest building on the planet. The elevator ride took about 2 minutes, and when they got to the top, Lauren was amazed at how nice the view was from up there. Looking around se saw way out into the ocean that the city was built next to, and in the other direction was a peaceful view of farms once you got past the suburbs, and they stretched as far as you could see.

Just then, something got Lauren's attention. There was a smoke cloud rising from the industrial areas to the west of the city. Looking closer, Lauren saw several spaceships attacking the factories and warehouses. Lauren got her crew ready to go back to the Pirate Hunter. When they got to it, Lauren cloaked the ship again, and flew it closer to the battle. When she got there, the remains of several police frigates were easily seen, as well as several piles of unidentified scrap metal.

The biggest ship that was attacking the factories looked like a big paper airplane, and it was shooting off many laser shots into the chemical tanks in the area. There were also 2 other, smaller ships that looked just like the burger-ship that attacked her yesterday, but these were smaller, and lacked the 2 ion cannons the other one had. Lauren told the crew to get the Karem 1, 2, and 3 ready to go, and when they were ready, Lauren de-cloaked the ship and released the 3 protector ships.

The 2 burger-ships ignored her, but the leader then flew at Lauren, firing some railgun rounds at the Pirate Hunter. Some of the rounds missed, but 1 hit right on the front of one of the engine pods, knocking out missile bay 1. The 2 fighters, the Karem 1 and the Karem 2, began shooting off the lasers along the leader's wings, but they weren't able to do it fast enough. The leader ship attacked the Karem 3, causing it to crash to the ground, but not before it fired a shot that went though the wing of the leader ship, putting a large hole in it.

The leader ship began to fly at an angle, still trying to hit the other ships with its lasers, and then Lauren hit it with a few missiles. the missiles blew several more holes in the wing of the leader ship, which soon crashed into the rubble of a factory and crumple into a heap before exploding.

The 2 burger-ships then attacked, and Lauren quickly hit them with several missiles, but the missiles seemed to have no effect. The pilot of the Karem 1 then began flying though small the rubble and turning all over the place, with 1 of the burger-ships following him. After a few minutes, the burger-ship hit a smokestack, causing the smokestack to fall over, and the burger-ship to be split in 2 and crash into a nearby warehouse.

The remaining burger-ship, seeing that it was now alone, decided to be a kamikaze, and it flew into the side of the Pirate Hunter and exploded. On the Pirate Hunter, the newly repaired right side cargo holds were again destroyed, and several fires broke out in the hallways. The sprinkler systems got most of the fires put out, but one of them in cargo hold R1 soon was an massive fireball.

After quickly landing, the crew put out the fire after about 5 minutes when the fire ran out of stuff to burn. The damage now was much more severe than the last attack, and Lauren decided that it would take several days to fix. After getting the Karem 3 back onto its pod, and the other 2 ships docked, the crew got to work sealing the holes in the wall of the ship so it could go into space.

While the crew were working on sealing the Pirate Hunter's walls, Lauren got to work on fixing the Karem 3. The Karem 3 seemed relatively undamaged, except for where it had hit the ground, but then Lauren found a small hole in the side, which had cut the wires leading to the engine control. Lauren soon had the wires reattached, and went and helped the rest of the crew.

About 2 hours later, the Pirate Hunter's wall was fixed, and they decided to fix the rest of the ship sometime in space. Soon, Lauren and her crew were back at the hotel, and they stayed there the rest of the day. Just after having the evening card games, Lauren decided the they would continue going to the center of the galaxy and they would visit Freespace 56-A-3, which Lauren knew had a database of all the known ships in the galaxy.
