Welcome to Yamnuska, An Island Nation on Simworld.

STORY: The first settlers moved here from Simnation. The settlers did not agree with numerous taxes and all things political in their nation and decided to start their own nation many kilometers away from the mainland.  The first settlers arrived in Strawberry Bay, and founded the small but now growing town of Harbourburg. The first settlers were not backwards and found that there were a number of Geothermal vents that could be used for power.

This is my first journal, i really enjoy reading the Digby and Edmonton journals. There are a lot more great ones out there but as they say so many cities to build and journals to read/ so little time!44.gif  Hope you enjoy this one. I modled it on my own and any resemblence to a real island is quite coincidental.
----
modds i've used:
NAM
Industry Quadrupler -2
Railset 1
richblu02 Water
RoadunderBridge
SimoleonRH modd
Numerous lots, bats and props from the STEX
I thought i used the farming quadrupler but i don't see it, i'm sure there could be more.

Good First Region, Although I Would Reccomend Using The City Border Match Up Tool [ That's Not The Right Name ]. I See Some Borders That Don't Match Up. After That, I'd Love To See Some Cities Fit In There

Hi everyone. To those that have been viewing this journal, my appologies for not updateing. I'm finding that the size of the region is possibly affecting the speed of my computer...that and the downloads9.gif

So the region of Yamnuska will be getting a bit of a makeover. If anyone knows how to delete this thread, i'll start over.  Or if it's not a problem i'll just continue on below this.

    thanks

Id recomend you to just continue, if you dont want the above post to show, just edit it, eather with new pictures and text, or just a text saying that you edited the post and that the information provided there is irrelevant with the rest ^^

    or whatever...

Ah, and Darkqinn Duck, long time no see ^^

    Cheers

Yeah, I think you should just sort out your map issues and carry on. (No-one will ever know....38.gif38.gif) Especially if you edit those early pics too.

A little tip: have a look for the Region Census program. It's a small thing that lets you look at your city outside of the actual game. It shows a full region view, and a traffic view, and RCI stats if you need them, but it gives you the whole region as one picture so after a bit of resizing you can post it on here. The link is posted in the Edmonton thread somewhere, but its on some other site, maybe Simcity Central.

If you want, I can email the program to you? 42.gif

    Will

EDIT: Can you tell me where I can get the farming quadrupaler and the 'roadunderbridge' mod. Never heard of that last one but it sounds useful... 31.gif

Ok seems like the best idea is just to fix the pictures above... and i'll be doing that in a moment. I'll post when the new landmass is up.

Will_silver: you should be able to find them in the modd files.  Unfortunetly the road underbridge isn't quite perfected yet it seems. The road exists but if you can't use the car, trucks, and buses. I suggest using a tunnel if you are into the missions. The road-under modd seems to be only for looks.

    Welcome To Harbourberg!

Harbourberg is going to be a small fishing and soon to be farming community on the Northern shores of Yamnuska. Here you will find a small graveyard with many famous settlers from the past includeing Frank Yamnuska for whom the Island chain is named.

To the South will be New Farmingworth with some of the bests land on the islands. Some settlers are already headed out that way!

Below is Harbourberg looking Northwest.  It's a small community and it's still in the black.

Ok, I'll go have a look there. That doesn't matter if its just for looks, cos I never play the missions anyway! Thanks!

Good to see you've recycled the thread. The new maps look really great, and all the best with your CJ! 29.gif

Cute little town and interesting use of the pine trails as an alley behind those houses. 1.gif

The Story: Slowly but surely farmers came with their large families wanting a chance at a fresh start.  While working for the lumber industry to get some Yamnuska Yennings (similar to dollars - symbol is not the $ but the Y ) The farmers and Harbourberg's mayor began the work needed to plan out Farmington. Ironicly a group of big city farmers decided they wanted their plot of land too and demanded the large house size ban lifted.  It didn't happen and thus Ardrossan was born!  The tow towns don't get along that well seeing as how county hall and the mayors house are in Farmington.

As you can see there is still lots of land to move in on; so if ur a farmer hitch up them horses to the wagon and hit the road for Yamnuska!  Farmington is directly south of Harbourberg on the main road while Ardrossan is off the beaten path just a bit in the southeastern corner of Farmington County.

Those are some nice farms you've got there! I like how you've mixed in the seasonal trees just a little to make it look realistic. I never think it looks good when people use them entirely...

Can I suggest you sort out the resolutions/sizing of your pics so they look a little clearer.

But well done! And keep up the good work!! 44.gif
