    Here are some of the first pictures of the development on Fisher Island.  The island is the financial center and downtown of Edwards.  These pictures are of the Edwards Transit System on Fisher Island.

    This continues to be stunning. I missed everything since the Seaport Village, but that particular district was really nice, and clearly very well planned with much detail. The raised roadways lined with walls and the tunnels through them are really quite remarkable.

    Your city looks great. Reminds me I need to use more space between the buildings in my own (big) cities. Sofar I was never happy with the way they looked.

    What I would like to know is how you are able to plant some trees in that park. I use Jeronji's parks as well but never able to plant anything on those grass lots.

    jacqulina & sloppet:  Thank you both for you're continued support.  It's always great to see you in Patoka Bay.

    oroen:  It's good to see you again.  Thank you for the flattering comments.  I'm pretty happy with the development of Seaport Village, but I may make some changes in the near future.  I just think that something is missing or out of place.

    raindog:  Thank you and welcome to Patoka Bay!  You are right about Jeronij's Diagonal Trail Parks .  You can't plant trees on them.  I have a blank grass lot that is the exact same texture as his trail parks and you can plant trees.  I think it came with the Cemetary Creation Pack by davidhogan, but I'm not sure.  I'll try and get a definate answer for you soon.

    aleking:  Good to see you again and thank you.  As for the Cubs, don't get me started.  Injuries are killing them.  At least the season is still young.

    I'll try and have an update in the next day or two.44.gif

    A few more pictures from the development of Fisher Island.

    Fisher Island could only be accessed by the Blue Line or Grant and Fisher Bridge.  To help out with traffic a tunnel was added.

    Looks good, but the over-usage of walls make the city look very blocky. Nonetheless, very original.

    thanks for your quick reply, Creilmann.
    I like that night shot above.

    Just downloaded that cemetery pack but it does not include a blank grass lot. Also it doesn't match the color of the park made by jeronji. It does match the color of the standard grass lot included in the game.

    edited: had an idea and just found the empty grass lot in the Golf Pack, yes!

    Cypherus21:  Welcome!  Thank you for your opinions and compliments.  I look forward to seeing you again.

    raindog:  I think I found the grass lot you are looking for.  It may come with the  Cement Parking and CementGrass Parking 2lots by the jerseydevil73.  If that's not it then I have no idea.  I'm not the best at keeping my downloads in order.  It's a great lot anyway.  I hope that helps.

    EDIT---- Try the  Edmonton Trail Pack   by jerseydevil73 as well.

    The financial district and downtown are coming along nicely, although it takes a while to develop.  I hope to have new pictures real soon.

    Just a quick update for now boys and girls.  Fisher Island is coming along great.  I am, however, being very selective as to what kind of towers are developing there.  My patience is really being tested.  Anyway, here's what I've got so far.

    Creilmann, I can't believe this is my first visit to your CJ. I saw a photo you posted on a tunnel thread, and thought it showed some promise. Promise, indeed - WOW! This is fantastic work - and I love how you plan the districts and give them a unique look.

    Any tips on how to get more uniform residential? I've tried bulldozing what I don't want, but the lots tend to go back to lower-density buildings. Maybe there is no solution except more patience than I probably have.

    I'll be back here soon. Looking forward to more updates!

    aleking:  Thanks aleking.  I didn't plan on putting the city government complex on Fisher Island, but I needed something to break up all of the skyscrapers.  I think it worked out well.

    dsands:  Thank you dsands.  It's good to see you back in Patoka Bay!

    ScottFTL:  Welcome to Patoka Bay and thank you for your kind comments!  As for your question, I think the key is, as you mentioned, patience.  What I do is let the whole neighborhood develop and then I start to bulldoze what I don't like.  I find it works better than just bulldozing anything from the start because it gives the area a chance to become what it will be.  The value will go up a bit, people will move in, and your transit system will get some use.  Then you can bulldoze what you don't like and most likely, you'll get a higher income building to develop.  I also am careful with zoning.  When I download something off of the STEX, I try to remeber what kind of lot It will grow on and then I will zone specifically for that.  You can control the size of your zone by simply pressing CTRL while you are making it.  That will eliminate any automatic streets and also the lines that go down when you zone.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

    On to the update......

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Fisherislandbanner.jpg align=baseline>

    Well, Fisher Island is still developing and while it looks finished, I am still not completely satisfied.  Since this may take a while, I'll show a few pictures of where it is now and then move on to something else in the next update.  We'll keep coming back to Fisher Island as it progresses.  On with the show.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//fishi2.JPG align=baseline border=4>

    I've decided that the mid-rise on the right is where I would want to live.  Perfect location and a great looking building.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//fishi3.JPG align=baseline border=4>

    Well there you go.  Life in the big city can be hard, but at least you're never board.  We'll come back to Fisher Island again soon, but I'll be back with something new in the next update.

    Enjoy!

    Fisher Island is really starting to come together now. It is looking awesome. I think I agree that the mid-rise apartment building on Fisher Island is perfect - but I imagine rents are quite expensive!

    Thanks for your tips on residential development. I am learning that patience is the only way to get results with SC4. I have been struggling with terraforming since I desperately wanted to use the Marrast Embankment Set, but I think I'm finally getting a handle on it.

    I do have a few more questions, if you don't mind:

    1. What did you cover the Fisher Island Tunnel with in your earlier update? It looks great.

    2. For the large skyscrapers on Fisher Island, did you grow or plop these? I'm partially to plopping where possible since I usually want a certain building in a certain spot, but maybe there is some disadvantage that I don't know about?

    3. Lastly, what is that mid-rise apartment building? Is is a STEX lot? I haven't seen it before, but the architectire is gorgeous.

    Well, as usual, you have given lots of ideas for my own region. Better fire up SC4 and get to work.

    Looking forward to the next update.

    parrothead:  Good to see you again.  I'm glad you like the urban part of my CJ but rest assured, we will get back to the rural areas soon.

    ScottFTL:  Thanks for stopping by again.  The stone lots that you see on the tunnel are from a Japanese website.  You can find the link on the Massively Gigantic Japanese BAT Gallery .  I'm sorry, but I don't remember the exact page.  Don't worry though, the whole thread is amazing.
          I did plop probably five or six towers on Fisher Island.  Not to mention the Ritz Carlton, City Hall, The Basilica, and the Transit Terminal.  I think it can help to boost development but you can't plop residential (it just won't work), so I try and leave plenty of space for natural development.
          The mid-rise may actually be a MAXIS building.  It did grow on it's own.  I'll click on it next time I'm playing and see if the query gives me a clue

    By the way, since both of you loved Fisher Island so much, I'm happy to give you the keys to your new condos.  They are both 3-story, corner condos with two full baths, three bedrooms and a beautiful view of Patoka Bay.  Oh, and your getting a great deal on these condos, trust me!  Enjoy em, just don't party like a rock star too much.

    Creilmann, you are right - that is an in-game building. Bilyk Towers, a stage 7 R$$$ to be exact.

    I just got a copy of the SC4 Building Database that Andreas Roth and Simrolle are working on, so I looked it up. This is a very cool tool.

    Glad you got Parrothead and me a nice place. Nothing but the best for us. 19.gif

    Mdz1001:  Thank you for those wonderful words.  There's plenty of available property in Edwards if you have a preference.

    ScottFTL:  Good to see you again.  Hope you like your new place.  I'm glad you found the walls and if you need anymore insight or advice just ask.  By the way, where did you find that building database?

    I will try for an update in the next couple of days.  The snow is gone and spring is here in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.  The mountain bike is tuned up and the golf clubs are dug out of the closet so it's time to get back outdoors.  I will still do my best to keep this CJ updated on a regular basis, but if you don't hear from for a few days here and there, just think of me up on the mountain.44.gif

    I also wanted to give a nod to some other CJ's that have helped inspire the creation of The Patoka Bay Region.  Thank you to the authors.  Your creativity has been invaluable to my own.

    The SC4 Building Database is available on Peg's site. Just search for the SimCity building database thread in the forums. You can download a beta copy from the second page of the thread.
