Problem with imported Maps

Hello,

I have a serious problem with the imported maps (Venice and Hamburg for exampe).

The import of the maps works so far, but when the maps are rendered, all water is missing. Where water should be, I do have deep canyons. I am using Sim City 4 Deluxe. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Are you using the config that comes with the map file?

Well, I do use the correspondent config.bmp files. They are in the same folder as the greyscale jpeg. However, the rendering and the city zoning works, but in the areas that are supposed to be water are just very deep canyons without water in them.

I am also having the same problem.

I believe I am adding my regions correctly (ie: create file, add the config.bmp file, render the greyscale *.jpeg via Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R).  But when my computer is finished rendering, the elevation scale is very wrong.  There is no water as the elevation values are almost maxed.
    Can anyone help me out.

This is weird.....Is it with every map or only with the ones you've downloaded and then imported to the game?....There is also the possibility that it's because of a mod you are using...

do you have either of these mods installed?

Terrain and climate Mods Pack by mayspacy

    Cycledogg's terrain mod by Cycledogg

if so, they have a tendancy to cause map render issues, I suggest you remove the mod, render the map, then put the mod back, there are several other terrain mods that might also have this affect, when in doubt, remove any potentially conflicting mods from your plugin directory, do the render, then put them back.

Perhaps the creator of the maps had one of these mods installed? That may have affected the grey values they chose when making the map.

I have Cycledogg's mod installed and I find I have to raise the greyscale by 15 to 20 points at sea level in order to get the water where I want it, compared to the same map rendered without the mod.

if you press ctrl-alt-shift-r (at the same time) and nothing at all happens, recheck the keys you are pressing or have the keyboard checked out.

if however a browse box appears and lets you choose the jpg file, then nothing happens, I would check to make sure the jpg file is 8 bit grayscale

what map is this btw? one in perticular or diff ones? which one/ones?
