Old Building.

My mom recived recently some  old  family  pictures and stuff from my uncle.
 
This is a scan of an envelope that contained a letter and photo from my Great great grand mother to her Brother and  his wife.
Look as though the envelope one contained an insureance policy of some kind, but it the picture on the enveploe that  i though would intrest  you all.

The caption reads
Main Office of the Metropolitian Life Insurance Co.
           Madision Square, New York
 
The date on the letter was aug 23 1917.
the back of the envelope said 1912.
 
 Interestiong some of the things you run across.

    We have a postcard with an aerial view of downtown Manhattan, before the WTC. Good clear shot of the Singer building. I think's from the late 60s when my grandparents went to New York.

    Cool pic. That building is surrounded by things now. In 1912 that was the tallest building in the world, and the Woolworth building was probably under construction.

    That was quite a discovery. I also like finding things from the past as they tend to be very intresting althougth I have never really found anything from my family that old.

    That's cool. Even at my age I love collecting history. A while back ago I bought a Atlas that was dated 1944 during WW2. It is truly cool to look at all I found. From the country of Manchuko (sp?) to all the European empires in Africa...and in the back of the atlas is a Gazeteer (sp?) that says, the Empire State Building is the tallest building in the world.
