Help with downloading New buildings...

Hey, Im new to the forums and know Simcity 4 well, but Caould someone explain how I can add new buildings to the game(not ploppable ones, either) prefferably skyscrapers, and places to find these. thanks.

download the building zip....unzip it with winzip or wirar and place the buildings in your  my/document/simcity 4 / plugins folder

i sugget using subfolders to keep the plugins folder orginized...helps if you run into problems later on, to find things

 

ps always read the readme file (if there is one) it will be the instruction from the maker on how to install it correctly in your game...listing any depenant file you may also require for the building to work correctly

 

I suggest the SC$tool program...it's an outside program from the game allows you to view and edit buildings  (latest version found on the home page in the middle, just scroll down)

 

 

I also suggest you alway test new buildings in a sandbox region before using in your favorite region, just to make sure they work correctly and they are what your looking for in your game

 

 i use the following mod to test growables in my sandbopx region...helps save time instead of waiting for random chance of them growing

You extract the download using Winzip,WinRAR etc. into your MyDocuments/SimCity4/Plugins folder OR Program Files/Maxis/SimCity4/Plugins folder and they should appear in game. If this doesn't work, the building you are trying to download must be a growable which means you have to zone some Residential, Commercial or Industrial zones and get to the required stage to make it grow OR it could be a reward which means you have to meet some requirements before you can use it in your city. If the building you downloaded comes with a ReadMe always read it as it contains useful information on how to get the building into the game. Hope this helps.  Welcome to Simtropolis!
