Stumbling from one problem to another

This is half request for help, half getting all my SC4 related problems off my chest.

I'm interested to know if anyone else has experienced any of the problems I have and then maybe they can give me a few pointers as to how to sort them out for good.

I've always found the game slow, in fact once I get above 150,000 pop its irritatingly slow so I dipped my hand in my pocket and paid out for an upgrade to a 3G P4 processor and a new graphics card.

Instead of getting better, things got worse. The graphics became terrible..very grainy and out of focus. I tried adjusting the visual settings in game, but to no avail and so much for the better processor, as the game play actually got slower !!!! 

I suspected the graphics card, so I disabled it, but then the game wouldn't launch properly. I tested other games both with the new graphics card enabled and disabled and they worked fine. Maybe it is the graphics card, I don't know.

Maybe its a conflict in my plugins folder, I don't know that either....not being Bill Gates I'm not sure if a conflict would make such a difference. I've downloaded so much, I get depressed just thinking about removing my plugins file and then adding them back in one by one to find a conflict, unless one of you sharp cookies knows a different way.

If anyone knows ANYTHING that might help me pin point the problem and therefore solve it, I'd be very very grateful.

Try upgrading the drivers on your graphics card. What type of card is it?

Also, turn of the anti-aliasing feature.  It won't work with SC4.
