I think those system specs look fine except for two things. Mabye free up a bit of system memory as SC4 takes up quite a bit and see if you can get the latest version (if it has a latest version) of your video driver as SC4 might play better with the latest version.

Looks fine. An additional 512MB would help as you become more advanced. The game is a CPU and memory hog.

P.S. I fixed your title. Welcome to our community.

I ran SC4 with an AMD Athlon 1.4 Thunderbird and 512Mb PC2100 and FX5200 without a problem.. my only suggestion for you is getting even a basic video card, around $100-150.

I wouldn't bother with the video card just for SC4. Regardless of the card, with 64MB video memory it will run fine. The problem will be RAM. You've got enough for the basic game, but as you start downloading from this site and your plugins folder expands, or if you want to play large city tiles or reach huge city populations, you'll need to add more RAM.

For the time being, stick to medium and small cities and be selective about what you download and you'll be fine. Enjoy the game and the site!

Well really it depends on your level of gaming. If you play the game just to make farms and/or suburbs with graphics settings down, you should be alright where you are (just update your graphics driver). If you want to go all out and get best detail and especially see more cars on the roads and people, etc, 64mbs of video memory is just not going to cut it. the GeForce fx is your best value for playing SC4 because they are usually 128mbs/256mbs and with updated drivers they are not a problem. Furthermore, they are relatively inexpensive. The problem with using onboard video is that it is usually not as stable or efficient as a card and because it is only 64mbs, whenever it needs more memory, it will borrow it from your ram...this is bad. As far as ram, like the video, 512 is sufficient for low end gaming. However, with a processor like yours (quite sufficient), a switch from 512mb to 1gb of ram will yield the largest performace boost and may be sufficient in itself. Lucky for you, a memory upgrade would probably be the cheapest upgrade to increase performace of simcity. You will have to figure out exactly what kind of memory you would need. An additional 512 stick would bring you up to 1gb and depending on the speed of the ram that your computer can handle, it will cost anywhere between 40-70 USD.

Well he has ONBOARD video which is why I said a video card, it will do wonders. Even a $30-40 Ti4200 will make a large difference but dont go too new, the new hardware tends to have problems...

...and a new motherboard if he's going to do that because chances are he has no video card expansion slot.
