Okay, a really weird idea popped up inside my head. I wanted a region that would follow a river (and a highway), so it must be very long. But not too big, because that would bog down my computer. So I created a region with 4x64 dimensions to start with. I create a config.bmp file that's completely blue and 4x64 pixels. Creating a greyscale image isn't required for this region as I shall be having no or little problems with the tool that realigns city borders. After this simcity 4 is launched, and the region loaded. My view starts at the top north of the region and I think it succeded. But then I encounter a problem: I am not able to scroll the region view in any way. So I may be able to edit the top 3 cities, but not any more of them. This practically screws up the whole idea.

This scrolling problem only happens in regions of this shape.

I use simcity 4 deluxe, no updates, nor mods (shame on me 43.gif)
Nor would it be adviseable to me, because of the next paragraph (mods do take more memory and CPU than the normal game, am I right?)

My system specs are as following: 500 MHZ athlon CPU, somewhere between 200 and 300 MB of RAM, a 16 MB video card, windows XP professional (don't know the service pack), although I think this problem has little to do with my computer, because it only arrives in certain circumstances and the difference in circumstances does not have an obvious (or less obvious) direct connection to the hardware and software of my computer. There is little difference in RAM use, graphics card use, etc. in a normal region compared to mine (4x as tall, 1/4x as wide, no difference in the amount of square kilometers).

So for a bit of a conclusion: the thing doesn't scroll, only in the region view, and only in case of a region of a certain size/shape.

Why won't it scroll? According to many knowledge trees and similar things there's no difference between a 4x64 config.bmp and a 64x64 config.bmp of which 60x64 has been colored black. Or is there? This dazzles me. 46.gif

Anyone a solution to my problem???

AFAIK, you should load another region, and reload this region. it worked for me.
