My current project of modeling Los Angeles buildings has been put on hold due to time issues. In the mean time I am working on a project for school which will become my first BAT, modeling the Lyon Station by Santiago Calatrava. I know it isnt very accurate but i think it will look pretty good considering that I have a limited time to complete it.

Wow ! Calatrava's creations are beautiful and from what we can see, you've got a great talent to reproduce them
I hope it will be released soon ! 9.gif

Wow! That looks amazing! So beautiful and unique! I would love to see that completed. Its looks a bit like the sydney opera house, except with glass! Have you considered making that?

Great work on this, it looks spectacular! 29.gif

Looking forward to see some more of this station, an interesting project, and so far it is looking excellent.

Thanks for all the support. I started adding the train platform area and played around with the materials a little bit, i know the materials arent quite right yet, but wanted to give an update.

Pretty impressive looking and no small project to say the least. Looks really clean and crisp. Very nice indeed. I hope you can give it the lighting it deserves (when you get to that part of the project). Something like eburess did on his windspear arena comes to mind. That has got to be the slickest and most artistic lighting I've seen to date. Good luck and keep us posted.
EDIT: I stand corrected. DT did the lighting on the windspear arena. (I should've guessed). When you get ready for that part of your project I would suggest a big bribe to get him to help you. Your project certainly deserves his skills.

Believe in only what you can prove.

Why do Calatrava's buildings all look like nose-diving birds?

And your design looks rather excellent compared to the original. I know you said you have limited time to complete it so it might not be exact, but dang is that good.

And just out of curiosity, what does the original look like in regards to night-lights? And do you plan on following those guidelines or going your own way?

The pictures that i have seen of this building at night really arent that spectacular, not sure how i will handle lighting. I may look into getting assistance in that area when i get there. I may also need help with modding as well.

That's amazing! I did a quick search and found a page in France with a couple of nite shots of the Lyon Airport Station. Here's the link and I hope it helps you out. A shot similar to one of these ended up in a Time Magazine collection on architecture and was very stunning. I have the book, but no scanner 7.gif Whenever I can get to one, I'll scan it if I make it in time...
