    Hello again,

I am designing banknotes and coins for my NationState. I was thinking of commissioning a series of notes for the simoleon.

I know the denominations needs to reflect on inflation. In The Sims, a meal would cost 10 simoleons and a snack costing 5 simoleons. In SimCity 4 a square of road costs 10 simoleons and costs 0.10 simoleons to maintain, so the currency has decimals. An elevated motorway segment costs 600 simoleans, and a clinic costs 400 simoleons.

Is the simoleon currency different between The Sims and SimCity 4?

What banknote denominations would you suggest? And what designs would you like it shown?

    Thanks.

I think that they are either different currencies with the same name, or SC4 is in ,000's or more (like how people like to do on graphs) and the game just never says so.

But they could be the same currency. Simcity is one of those charming artificial video game places, like the sims, where things are horribly unrealistic, but instead of hiding it they expand on it, giving the game some character. Is modeling a meal any harder than making a road texture? So why shouldn't they cost the same?

I'd go with the first one. I'm not sure how much real things cost, but once you find out you can make some decisions on how much normal items would cost in simoleans. If a real clinic costs 4,000,000 dollars, then each simolean in the game is actually 10,000 simoleans. I suggest doing something like that, but make the bills and coins like normal bills and coins today.

I think the designs should have the same colors and fonts as the menus and stuff, since that's the closest thing we have to official sim city government documents we have. But you could also design it any way you wanted for the purpose of some bills. I personally like the elaborate, traditional looking money, but unless you're an amazing artist you won't be able to make any origonal currency like that.

You might also have a hard time getting CJers to use the new money, which has historically been a problem in all places when people try to make a standardized currency. In the US, there where hundreds or thousands of different currencies being exchanged. Some where accepted by different banks and different places, and alot of currencies weren't recognized anywhere once you left the region.

Interestingly, the same thing could happen on Simtropolis. You could try to make a standardized design, and then a few other people would do the same and they'd compete with eachother with acceptance untill or unless Dirk made one of them the official currency, although I don't think he'd dictate something like that.

The plan to introduce currency into City Journals was actually not my idea. I am quite good at designing currency banknotes, as well as collecting foreign bsanknotes.

So I think the simoleon has a pretty unrealistic value against the the pound. I wonder... If the simoleon was real, how many simoleons the would
