Hello,

Recently, my SC4 has been freezing when it loads the region view at the start of the game. When I end the program, to end sc4 running, and I try to run sc4 again, it just show the bridge screen then goes black but then crashes back to the desktop. I have to restart my computer to get back to the region view, but it always freezes. I recently defragged my computer so there is enough space and memory. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice. My graphic card is up to date and everything. I made sure that no bat that i downloaded was causing this and removed the plugin folder, but no luck it just freezes again. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

We need more information to analyze what is happening to you. Please take a look in your exception reports folder, and post the first 20 lines of the minidump. It will open with notepad.

Also, we need to see what your machine is like. Please let us know your configuratons. See the sticky above on bug reporting.

Sounds like you either have too many plugins (not likely) or your game has been corrupted.

    I suggest a reinstall.

Unless I'm overlooking something (wouldn't be the first time) I would agree with N_O_Body on this.  You probably have corrupted game files and a clean re-install should take care of the problem.  At this point you have nothing to lose by trying that.  Let us know what happened. 10.gif

I have reinstalled the game three time, still happens, freezes at the default region tile. I have removed every plug in, every region I have made. Still, it freezes.

Well, how about anti-aliasing on your video board? If you have it turned on, turn it off. In fact, if you have anything turned on on the board, turn it all off. SC4 doesn't understand most (any?) hardware options on a graphics board.

Okay, that pretty much rules out the game itself as the cause of the problem.  So that leaves hardware.  Try N_O_Body's suggestion on the video card and if that doesn't help then I'm guessing a ram problem.  For that you'll need a program to stress your ram and see if it fails.  You can google for a free program to do that.

One question that hasn't been asked is are you playing SC4 or Rush Hour?  If your playing Rush Hour then reinstall SC4 one more time and play it without adding any patches, updates, etc.  We might be able to narrow it down some more.10.gif
