"Object reference" error prevents game loading and new game

I disabled most of the mods, leaving on the 81 tile mod and the loading screen mod at work. I disabled all assets too. The game still doesn't load right.

Either the loading doesn't finish and it turns into a blue sky, or i get into the game with the "object instance..." message many times and the game can't be played.

I also can't start a new game. Same error message.

I searched the web and the common answer is disable outdated mods, which I did. It doesn't work.

I haven't purchased the Parklife update yet. Could that be an issue? I don't think we have to do the update in order to play the game. There are other updates I didn't install and I could play the game nonetheless.

I wonder if anyone can help me here.

The log is riddled with errors because it seems that 81 Tiles cannot fire a function SimulationStepImpl. Based on this thread, it seems like a common problem, especially before the 1.9.1 patch.

I just downloaded 81 Tiles to test this and it worked fine with Loading Screen Mod alone, with another two mods that I have been developing (with debug-quality code), and all the vanilla mods. Here's a picture with all tiles unlocked with no errors:

I would suggest installing the Parklife update if you haven't done so already. (The DLC is not necessary; I'm not using it and my game runs fine with 81 Tiles and LSM.)

If the mod still does not work, try physically reinstalling it (unsubscribe/resubscribe or unsubscribe/delete from mod folder/resubscribe).

I installed Parklife. I can now start a new game, but only without the 81 tile mod. That mod still gives me the same error.

In addition, I cannot go into the existing city, with or without the 81 tile mod activated.

To me, the 81 tile mod seems to be broken, and some comments on stream say that too. Without that mod, going into the existing city would be pointless anyway.

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the mod? A fresh install of 81 Tiles and LSM is working as expected for me using the same mod setup as you.

If you're using a fresh install of 81 Tiles, I'd reckon that your save game itself is broken; you could try recovering it with a mod like SoS (although I can't guarantee that will work either). Sorry :\
