Mr.freeze - SimCity 4 slow to respond!

How do I fix this problem, my game freezes for a second or two and starts moving for a second or two , stops again and goes on and on. When I start the game a windows notification come up say a program is tryin to start the runtime without a manifest. Help me please my sims are angry

What you describe sounds like lag to me. Even on a modern high-end system, at some point Lag is simply inevitable. I too have long pauses and jittery scrolling in a couple cities. If you want to improve performance, try switching off shadows and turning the details down. But if you've a large number of sims, beware that at some point, the sheer number of calculations needed by the traffic simulator will eat whatever system you have alive.

If your videocard is not properly setup/optimised for SC4, that can also exacerbate the problem. Ideally, you should be running with Hardware Rendering, software rendering performs much worse.

As for the error upon statup, are you using a launcher application or just double-clicking the normal SC4 icon? What version of Windows are you using also?

Yes it's a large city and on a windows 8.1 pro sim city from amazon, so from a icon. my video card is a g-force 1gbites

I don't think the error on startup is necessarily related to your performance issues. As such my previous advise still stands there.

I'd see if that takes care of your problems. I can't find any direct reference to that error message on Google. Best guess it's related to some sort of library that's being utilised by SC4, like a .dll. But the error message isn't familiar, so I wondered if another application is being used, such as SC4 Launcher to configure your game?

sorry I didn't get back to sooner, but yes the city had something to do with with. At start could be a launcher. Thanks for your advice and help I do appreciate that
