Sash of empty cities through middle of region

I've been having the strangest problem the last few times I've tried to render a region...

As illustrated above, there's a belt of empty cities running right through the middle of the region. This has happened using different jpegs and different bmps and different sizes. The only regions that I have been able to render successfully in recent weeks have been very small ones (like these )

Initially, I thought this might be related to one of those custom height plugins that people use for their maps, but I couldn't find any sitting around in the plugins folders. I'm kind of at a loss for insight into what might be causing this... any suggestions?

Do you have any background programs that are running as the map is rendering because if you do, the render might go wrong so my advice is close any background programs that are running and retry. Hope this helps. 5.gif

Right, and especially turn off any screen savers. Renders have to be uninterrupted. This is also true of BAT renders.

I have had the same problem with some of the maps on the STEX.  I am not sure but I think that the grayscale.jpg has been improperly resized.

I will render the region if you want to tell me which one it is.

Hmm... no, I think I figured it out. What confused me was that when the rendering has been interrupted by something else the computer is doing, the entire bottom-right corner of the region was empty... and this was different.

But it turns out I had two jpgs in the same folder - an original that I downloaded, and a modified copy that I resized to match the intended config.bmp. What tungston said makes me suspect that I just clicked on the wrong one in this case... and when I went to do it in the past.

    Oops. 12.gif

OK. Before you render again, after fixing up the maps, remove the Region.ini file.
