This stinks..

Ive had simcity 4 for years now, pretty much since deluxe was released. Up until recently I never bothered with mods or additions, outside of user created maps. Well I registered years ago, and cant remember the login/pword to my master account, nor am I sure which email address I used when I originally registered my master account.

I reregistered for the site online, but when I try registering my actual game it tells me my key is already in use, I had hoped its allowing for five accounts per master account would let me circumvent this.

I've pretty much mastered this game(I'm currently playing a city with 200K+ population and operating on a treasury of about 13 million with 10k income...) and want to start working on making asthetically pleasing regions with more than what the base game provides.. unfortunately I can't get neccessary files from simcity.ea.com as a result of my problems stated above.

Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

Sadly, that product may be already registered. I cannot give you my username and password for the official SimCity site, because that is an act of piracy.

lol, I didn't ask for a username or a password. I asked for helpful suggestions.

I don't really appreciate the assumption that I was looking for someones account info, as I specifically asked otherwise.

As for product registration, this is a direct copy/paste from the site..
Product registration gives you the ability to:

* Create 5 additional screen names
* Upload your own fun creations to the Exchange for others to download
* Download cool objects from the Exchange and downloads area
* Participate in message board chat and discussions
* Receive access to technical support
* Get cheat codes and/help guides from our Tips and Tricks section
* Receive The Sims Insider email newsletter

See the first bullet point, Constantina? That is why I had hoped I could register a second account.

Nexis, you aint kiddin about sensitivity. From the responses you guys must get it alot. Every single response to my original post has pointed out that they cant give out account info, which I never asked for.

Frankly it feels sorta xenophobic and I'm wondering if I should feel insulted by it. It's as if I came into your house, said Hey, nice picture you got there! and then I was curtly told Yes it is, now don't steal it!

Contact Maxis and they should be a able to sort out this problem for you althougth they are slow. That is the only legal way to solve the problem unfortunatley.

Instead of using dozens of usernames, passwords and e-mail addresses that we forget after a certain time, one should be contempted with one of each only and therefor avoid a lot of problems, such as yours.

Let that be a lesson to all of you.

There is nothing much that you can do other than try to find your password and e-mail address that you used on the site. Anything else is considered as Piracy, and we are pretty sensitive to this on Simtropolis.

The exchange is the whole reason I bothered registering on this site! I'm currently playing a user map I downloaded here a week or so back. According to another thread on these forums theres a few mods I should get, but theres neccessary files which I can only get through sims.ea.com.. which leads back to my problem with my account, lol.

I emailed tech support and from reading elsewhere, apparently I can get my info if I send them a fax of the cover of my cd or something., hopefully they offer a different solution as I have no fax machine and I'm afraid I'd be forced to go on an annoying quest into the outside world in search of one.

But, if it works out and I can download certain mods I'd like to try(specifically the traffic pathfinding fixes! I've got some strange commuters, shame there isnt a bus route map ordinance..) it'll be worth it.

when i couldnt register my disk all i had to do was ring ea games and give them my old number which i think is on the disk and they gave me a new number /the reason for this is because you can buy second hand games from any game shop and ebay i hope this helps

If you don't want to contact Maxis you could also punch in all your e-mail addresses one after the other, rather than trying to remember which one you used. I know it can be done as when I installed Sim City on my new computer, I couldn't remember the username I originally gave myself on the Sim City site and I didn't know which e-mail I had registered. With trial and error though I found out which of the four e-mails I use was it.

Unfortuntaly I already tried that, spa. Assuming i have the right username.. I can't figure out my password. And the email account I think it was has been taken by another person(french apparently, going by the question you answer for the lost password feature(I tried this to make sure it wasnt still active for some freak reason..).

To add insult to injury, the email addy for registration problems I found in another thread in this forum is bouncing.. does anyone know the current one?

Yes unfortunatley losing e-mail's, password's etc is a commen problem so don't feel ashamed about it. Just keep trying with trial and error and with Maxis tech support. It does get annoying quickley, I feel your pain.

Welcome to Simtropolis. 

EA support is the only one who can help you.  Be patient and you'll eventually get through to them.  An encrypted file on your computer with all your addresses, usernames and passwords would be a good thing.

Please forgive me if this post sounds a bit of off-topic.

You can find lots of trail parks in the STEX, and I find those great ones created my Jeronij and Pegasus... you can find the lots here ( https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?mode=files&filetype=all&category=default&sortby=DatePosted&show=12&Str=trail%20park ), download them, plop them in your city to make it asthetically pleasing.

I had a similar incident also;

 Knowing that I write everything down, I tore the house apart looking for it. never did, but stumbled on a scrap of paper with scrawled out in pen, a year after the fact!

 

Now I write all passwords in a specially assigned notebook. I have 87 passwords now and counting. I have nearly 700 e-mail addresses too. I send community mail to all of them at once on occasion.

yeah, i had to re-buy TWO copies of simcity 4 just to get a valid cd-key, sucks dosnt it? ah well at least i do it now


send some pictures taken from your camera/phone/webcam of the serial number printed of the back of your manual, and send that to EA. claim that you have forgotten yoour serial key and would like it retracted, then when done create a new account with that fresh cd-key,

I would check your user level, member label, post count and STEX and Omnibus production count and compare them to others before making such statements.

Yup, downloaded the suggested mods in greyveils threads last night, probably going to wipe my region clean and start from scratch. To top it off I got two friends who I used to play an online region game with(we got the required stuff from sc4ever) wanting to play again, so Im tryin to get them to grab the same mods.

Our games got pretty cutthroat, we didnt have any rules outside of making agreements for neighbor connections, so competition got pretty cutthroat for things like hightech industry. Near the end I think all of us had it set to 0% tax rates.
