This thread is for about the production of vintage GLR trams, I have already made one, a New York tram,

screenshotofnyctram8pm.jpg

I have also updated the tram (thanks to Vester_DK) with a pole instead of a pantograph

nyctramwithpole6go.jpg

I have also just released a New Orleans tram

Chicago scheme 1

Chicago scheme 2

San Fransisco Iron Monster tram

Vintage portland tram

Washington DC tram

a more-accurate NYC tram
Melbourne W2 (thanks to Fairlane500)

Memphis tram

Tampa tram

I will alow myself to add/remove trams as needed from this list.

I'm looking forward to these!

Here's a link to a bunch of pictures for the New Orleans street car that I posted in Vester's thread a while back (they're about half way down on the page.)

Actually, nevermind, I'll just paste them here!

Front view (sry for the bad quality, I'll see if I can find a better one)

Here's a much closer (though not a TON clearer) front view of a St. Charles streetcar

Hope these help!!

It just look like most of the streetcars has a pole an not a pantograph. I will take your NY streetcar and modife.

btw: Lightrail is a newer term, defining the modern streetcars, which are lighter than trams and have more than just one car.

*grabs slice of cake* thanks Vester, I just uploaded it and put the picture in the main post. I think that I'll now be using this model, instead of the one with the pantograph. *eats cake*

I can modife the Oslo Tram to have the same size as this one. Then you will have more room for the sides and the roof. I have moved everything around. There are 1 px between each side. From my point of view it will make it a lot easier to make good skins.

btw: Change that picture for the NYC streetcar on STEX. Show an in-game picture instead and in a close view.

An excellent job you are doing with the streetcars, I must say.

Personally I would like to see a streetcar similar to the ones used in downtown Seattle, which are a minor transit system along the waterfront. Perfect examples of old stylle cars in modern guise.

Those are Melbourne class W2 trams, I wanted to do these a while back, but they would require a special 3D model that I don't know how to make, currently, I am just doing re-skinings of trams, so the hunt begins for the 3D model.

Yes it looks a lot like the Melbourne W-Class. I have made a version with a pole to be released very soon:
    wclassirpole15gw.jpg

If Fairlane500 can live with the model, maybe S12 can change the color of the roof and the top of the sides.

I think that I could do this, also I have a solution for fixing the Pittsburgh tram, select and copy the good side, then paste your copy over the bad (shadowed) side. I'll do this for you if you want, I don't know if you can do this in photoshop, but certainly in paintbox.

It's not the skin. It's something else. Have no idea of what ?

Everythings looks fine in the reader. It's just in the game.

polycount, mabey? (but probably not, since you have been working with this for so long)

*edit* this is also what happens when you use a JPEG file for a skin (I know, I tried it, and scraped the final version because it was so messed up by then)

Actually, that would be exactly what the Seattle trolleys are, they are imprted old Melbourne streetcars.

I would like to see them in the game, the model looks fine for the job to me, and I wouldn't mind versions with and without the ads. That's what adds the more modern look.

quote>I use PNG for the job. I have for some of the first skins like 40 png for the color and 10-15 for the alpha. I save each version with a new version no.
The only thing I did with the model was moving the points around, no adding or removing points or triangles.

What program do you use for the job ?

PNG or BMP, as I learned, never JPEG (as you probably remember what happened when I did that) and I don't know how to modd DAT files yet

GIMP, but only sometimes, mostly I use Paintbox to do the majority of the work. All computers with some version of Microsoft Windows have it.

Have finished the W2 version one tram. I don't have any pictures of it yet, but I can assure you that it looks really weird!

*edit* I am also looking for a model close enough to what a PCC car is like, I know it can't be replicated exactly (well mabey) because the polycount is too high, so if anyone can make one or knows of one, please let me know. 1.gif
