Medium Wealth Residential Demand Plummets Region-wide

Just to give you an overview of my region, I have over 100 medium sized cities developed out of a total of 205 medium sized cities. My total population is 1,050,000 and I am guessing that the majority of the inhabitants are medium wealth.

In the last week or so I've experienced a drop in all demand for R$$, in whatever city I open. When I load any given city, the R$$ demand will be positive, the bar will be around full to half full, and as soon as I start the simulator, the demand drops as far negative as possible. This happens in EVERY city I load. It doesn't matter if the city already has inhabitants or not.

On top of this, I noticed that whenever I start a city, my I-A. I-D, and I-HT is always up, and I-M is completely down. Which is crazy talk because I-HT should wait for a while before being willing to grow.

To give you some further information, I have not downloaded any mods in the last week or so, with the exception of the RHW and the NAM. On top of that, I moved all of my recent downloads, dating back to 12/01/05 out of my plugins folder, and still nothing happened (I noticed this phenomenon on the 12/08/05) I did have medium wealth development until that date. (I have a dated record with pictures) I still have R$ demand, and surprizingly, the R$$$ demand is still at a healthy level, and again, this is level wide.

I am wondering if there might be a region-wide demand cap for a certain wealth level, or if there's just a bug with the game that is causing this. I am completely bewildered, and my city development has haulted as a result of this drop in R$$ demand. Has anyone experienced the same thing, or is this an anomaly? Any suggestions as to what I might try to find out what the exact cause of this? This is pissing me off!!!!26.gif Thanks for taking the time to read my post, and I hope you can help!

Very strange indeed. I assume that your cities are not all the same Sim-age, so it is not a matter of aging out.

The only thing the NAM does that might have some effect is to fix-up the pathfinding algorithm and therefore commute time. Which one did you choose? You do know that you can only have one of them active, I trust.

Take a look at your population by age graphs. It almost sounds as if you have had World War I killing off your educated people. What is the average education level for these cities? Are they at all similar.

We have to start this by eliminating what we can think of, and when we are done, whatever is left, however obvious, will be the problem.

What is showing for your average commute times? Are they similar in each city?

I forgot to mention that I also have the Radical Ordinance Mod, but I've been using this for as long as I can remember. As for the NAM, I was using it prior to the October release, I deleted my old NAM files, and installed the new. However, I did change from the Perfect Pathfinding 2x10x10 to Better Pathfinding 2x10x10. I also changed from Radical 24 Automata to Standard 24.

I'm not exactly sure about equal education among the cities, but I am somewhat certain that the commute times are around equal. I am home from college for the time being, so I will be unable to play my SimCity, but when I get back I'll give more information. Thanks for taking the time to help.
