When I am playing the game and I go to the landmarks or parks, the game totally freezes up and I have to unplug my computer and restart. HELP please!!!

I did have to redo my game I started over and put the files in the way I was told here, but never had a problem until now. I am running Windows XP and have done all my updates. Can't figure out if it's a plugin mod, plugin or the game itself.

OK, your machine is just fine, so it must be something in the game.

Move all your plugins to another folder and try the game. If the problem is gone it is one of the plugins.

Start putting them back in the plugins structure one at a time. when the problem recurs, delete the one you just moved in.

SuzyAngel:  I see you don't really have enough physical memory for the game.  I would suggest not using any extra lots, or mods, until you can get more memory.

Well...your total physical memory is plenty, but perhaps you need to do something about the amount of available physical memory you have. Tungston's correct, it's not really enough to run the game with very many plug-ins. See if you can't free up some physical memory by shutting down some background programs (Quicktime, your graphics card's taskbar icon, AIM, etc.).

That being said, if it were really a memory problem, then you would probably get a crash back to the desktop. Most likely you have some plugin loading in a bad order. That, or you have a corrupted file somewhere. Try N_O_Body's suggestion and then get back to us.

Total physical memory is fine, available physical memory is not.  Probably (Notice I said probably, there are no guarantees) you problem is a combination of two things.  A plugin conflict and not enough physical memory.  N_O_Body gave you a great suggestion to work through the plugins and solve that part of the problem.  SC4 is a memory hog and 220MBs is not enough to run it successfully.  Try tchaos713's suggestion of shutting down everthing you can to free up more physical memory and if that doesn't help then try Tungston's suggestion of buying more RAM.  Remember to save often and then when it happens you won't have lost so much.10.gif

It all depends on the motherboard, and the chipset.  But your owners manual should tell you what kind of memory it uses.  Tell us that and I will quote you some prices.

Would not know why my computer does not show up, but I found the problem. It's the Rpatch. I though it would be useful, but found out that it does conflict with some lots. I read the  Read Me file and it says to NOT use patches with the lot. I think there should be a diagnostic tool made that will over look at all the plugins and tell you which ones don't have lots and any conflicts with Modds. What do ya think? Or is there one out there already. Also the file lot that I downloaded, the readme is not displayed until after it is installed, and I could not find the file because it put itself in the plugins and changed the name from the zip file name. Everything is still working great since reloading even better in fact. But I will not put any patches in the game again.

I dont recall if there is anything that can change that, but generally speaking, whenever there's a problem, the best thing you can do, is remove all plugins, load up an empty city and see if everything works, then put back half, see if everything works, put back half of what's remaining, see if everything works and so forth.

I've found that's actually faster than using the primitive tools that do exist in the Reader
